If anyone remembers where Microsoft was in the mid 1990's and how the public perceived Bill Gates, Bill's stage presence here reminded a lot of people of Apple's 1984 commercial. Actually, Apple didn't so much as steal, since they paid $100,000 for Xerox to showcase their technology to them. Xerox probably weeps everytime they read an article about Apple, since the introduction of Macintosh. That GUI was useless in the hands of Xerox, and they had no idea what to do with it.

In terms of desktops Apple is pretty crappy and their ads are deceptive. and THAT is why they had to go to music players! To target naive teens, to earn money so that their next hop could be phones. Get it? Then all they added with a touch phone. And that made more. And iphone is their nicest product, yes, but it's over rated and over priced. But their desktops suck, yet are touted as the cornerstone of technology which they aren't.
