  • Allies opened a second front only when the outcome of the war has already been decided.

  • Viva RSI!!

    Death to traitors and Poland!!!

  • @HeiligesReich2 Fuck you Japan scum

  • "Our aim is not merely to fight the Nazis - our aim is to fight the whole German people".

Lord Robert Vansittart to British foreign Minister Lord Halifax in March 1941.

  • the destruction of this glorious Abbay was a crime against humanity. Allied forces new very well that they were no german forces in Montecassine. Their last for pure distruction is also a testimony to their stupidy.

  • the destruction of this glorious Abbay was a crime against humanity. Allied forces new very well that they were no german forces in Montecassione. Their last for pure distruction was just unsurmontable, as an excuse to submit the enemy.

  • Now, now, don't knock the Brits or anyone else for their contribution to the war effort. Remember, the Brit Commonwealth forces took out ~300,000 Italian (including colonilas) troops in 1939 to early 1940 in East & North Africa, while at that time Stalin & Shitler were allies.

I am from the USA, & can't stand demeaning the efforts of ALL the Allies.

  • My gradfather fought here on the side of alies..:)

  • Where are the green devils?

  • Chwała na wieki bohaterom!

  • bellissimo video...anche io sono di cassino...sono rimasto impressionato da come era la nostra città...

  • dude shut up about clark. hes not that great of a general. he didnt do betetr than any if those people you listed BY FAR. do you know hwat caesar achieved? Alexander? you have no idea. shut up you american freak.

  • Strongman. I do know what Caesar and Alexander achieved. What Clark did was so much more. He stormed the enemy's capital city and took it. Grateful Romans poured on the street to great their "American Caesar". The Pope blessed Clark saying he was the "Saviour of the Church" and "Liberator of the City". The American people needed Victory, and Clark was the man to give it to them.

  • Clark didn't exactly storm Rome... it was open

  • bill. It was left open when the Germans knew that mighty Clark was "on his way". They said "Er kommt!". Never in history has there been a greater general than mighty Clark.

  • The truth is about Cassino that nearly everyone lost, except the Poles and their magnificent leader Mark Clark, the Supreme Military Commander in Italy from the United States Army. The Poles stormed the abbey, took it and planted the Polish National Emblem high over the structure. The Poles did what no others could do. The Americans tried hard. The colonials then went in, but did not have the training and skill of the Polish fighters. The Germans knew they were beaten when Poland arrived.

  • You are a stranger to the truth as well as to reason I see. Yet further examples of over simplified Kindergareden logic bereft of merit and serious consideration.

  • War is about victory. The Poles stormed the castle and planted the flag. Clark took Rome, one of the three major Axis cities. Clark is probably the greatest general in history. in this victory, he achieved more than Alexander, Peter the Great, Caesar, Hannibal or even George Washington. What more do you want?

  • You need to go back kindergarden to spell, buddy.

  • If thats the extent of your "stinging retort", you'll forgive me if I dismiss you out of hand.

  • Just pointing out the obvious...

  • not quite.. if they germans would have been sure to loose the war against the poles the campaign against poland would probably had another ending...

  • I hate the people who made this ...

  • actually if you guys got your facts straight, the germans did their best to save the artwork & precious pieces in the monastery.

and excuse me but wtf kind of glory is there in bombing an ancient monastery and killing hundreds of civilians?

  • Are You talking abaut Americans?

  • I hope the 54000 bastards died hard!!

  • Good vid and Good music (Enemy at the gates? xD)... Have respect for all soldiers who fight there =)

  • The German commander-in-chief stationed at the German Gustav Line wrote to his Führer Hitler; The impossible has been donne, the Moroccan Goums have crushed and conquerd our line of defences

  • In spite of the stiffening enemy resistance, the 2nd Moroccan-Goumier Division penetrated the Gustave Line in less than two day's fighting.

  • My father was at Monte Cassino, I still have his medals and I'm very proud of him and the Poles he fought alongside! I found this video quite emotional and wish my Father was still alive to see it! I wonder if he was in any of the pictures!

  • Did your father die during war?

  • Can I request that everyone get off their nationalistic soapboxes and go away and read up on the subject - I recommend Matthew Parker's 'Monte Cassino' (Headline Books)...at least then you can argue from an informed position rather than all this childish squabbling!

  • thats the trouble mate i do know what happend at cassino , obviously the poles think they took it alone ,i appreciate they got to the top first,to them there was no one else there, just got my back up

  • Fair enough mate...It just pisses me off that people are trying to hijack the deaths of many brave men (on both sides) for their own personal ends...in the end does it really fucking matter who got where first?

  • your a 100% right mate ,you would think the people here were enemys not allies,we did this and we did that, you betrayed us i hear off the poles,i aways admired them but they seem to have a pretty dim view of britain, anyway you are right though

  • who said that we took it alone? there were killed many people from many countries. But Poles fight in last thrust and they broke up the Gustaw line. I remember about Americans who were killed at ANZIO (and about British, Newzelands, Hinduis) What is the matter that we were firs, you won in other battles (in whom take part many nations) and we don't negate these facts. We should be proud that we in Alliance won over fasci germany and overthrow totalitarianism wasn't It the main idea of Alliance?

  • Music:

    Craig Armstrong - Escape

  • what is the music?? please answer me :)

  • Glory For Greatest Poland

  • POLAND FIRST TO FIGHT...

  • Also first to loose lol

  • USA war gut for juden nacis militarist ekonomic;

SS war gut for Europa und for World.

  • maxtenga - have you seen pics from Warsaw after the 2. war?

you and your brothers from germany are stupid.

  • Yes, N3W, I visited Warsaw and I know its destruction by SS armies and I know the heroic resistance of Armja Krajowa.

To the arrogant englishman Merseyside, I'm telling only that Anglo-Americans could be more careful and to save the monastery!!!

I thank the allied troops to have freed us from Nazism and Fascism in Europe. But bombing the monastery was a big fault, that German paratroops took advantage!!!

  • stupid italia - you collaborate with hitler... "stahlpakt".. haha. fuck Berlin-Rom.

it was your decision to start war with germany together... so it was your decision to start destruction...including monte cassino.

  • Stupid and dumb anglo-americans bombed a medieval jewel/monument, without checking before if german defenders were just there!

As italian I can consider myself offended by the big ignorance of allied troops!!

  • As an American, I am offended that you don't use soap

or deoderant on yourself before you enter my country,

    you worthless cunt.

  • Muahahahahah,

what does that relate to Monte Cassino's destruction?

Your answer proves once more your dumbness and stupidity!

  • To Vigo 894,

    Muahahahahah,

what does that relate to Monte Cassino's destruction?

Your answer proves once more your dumbness and stupidity!

  • hey maxtenga, the people in the monument were warned that it was going to be bombed, dumb hey we liberated you from the facist mussolini and the german nazi jackboot, you moron, when the italians changed sides the nazis committed atrocities on italian troops, the pope stood by and let the nazis take italian jews from rome amd didnt do a thing, tens of thousands of allies died liberating italy, and your upset over a pile of bricks and motar

  • get your damn facts straight

  • lol a 15 year old talkig to me, come back when youve grown some balls

  • maxtenga ,you say stupid and dumb anglo americans, hello, there was a world war going on, dont go wageing war against other countries and we dont bomb your monuments.most british cities were bombed and many important buidings destroyed, italy souldnt play at being the big i am if they dont want to get hurt,we got rid of mussolini and the fascists for you

  • merseyside: yeah the british no how to start wars but we dont know how to finish it thank god America and Russia saved our bacon.Like always we needed american help in the first and second world war...

  • finally a brit recognizes the help america gave in ww2, usually you guys are like "we didnt need american help!!!". im not saying we deserve all the the credit, but thank for not being ignorant

  • one we didnt start it ww2,, america did hardly anything in the 1st world war , on the field , another year tthey would of , and the 2nd ,oh yes they sent supplies etc , but were more than payed back , once the battle of britain was won ,germany had no chance of invadeing mate , ok we couldnt invade europe ,the americans wouldnt of been able to either ,every campaign in europe was a joint effort after the yanks came in

  • america supplied us,at a cost , a few ww1 destroyers ,useless ,for the use of priceless bases world wide . the yanks were useless, when they joined in the atlantic campaign , admiral king ,an anti brit, would not take advice from the royal navy ,he was sending single ships out ,insted of convoys and the yanks lost hundreds of ships thanks to him, patton was like custer, overated ,and never came up against the germans when they were strong, mark clark ,glory hunter , let the germans escape in italy

  • the british gave the americans the equipmen to brake the german code, and radar for use in the pacific to find japanese ships, without america we would of fallen yes ,, bet they didnt get repayments for all the equipment they gave to the soviets after ww2 , yet they did off us ,and them some ,finished paying repayments in 2006 , without britains and americas aid and help and efforts , the soviet union would of fallen , none of us would of won without each other

  • @merseyside Yes you did start WW II. The Germans were defending themselves against Polish terror since 1919, and who is actually to blame for cutting off the German city of Danzig from Germany? YOU british people. And who placed 2.1 Millino German families under the rule of the Polish terror-state? That was you again in Versailles 1919. Over 1 Million German families fled their own homes from Polish-occupied Germany, did you know that? No, you did not, because your country covers up their guilt.

  • @Elberiver11

Prussiaphobia isn't polnische invention. It was created Prussians. By theirs own conceit. Side effect of self-importance. What the right invoked the citizens of Gdansk 1919? The right, which does not exist. Coat of arms of the Free City contained the crown. If they so refused to respect the past 800 years, they should used the coat of arms without the crown. What a hypocrisy.

  • @AZsaturn Danzig was part of Polish crown for hundreds of years. This is true. But it was only ruled by Poland - German city under protection of Polis crown. But it was German city.

In 1919, when German Empire was occupied by Alien forces and Poland wantde to cut off city from Germany, Danzigers decided to remain German. Democratic decision. Polish crown was long time before that. You cannot judge people by standards that do not exist. In 1919, Polish crown had been gone centuries ago.

  • @Elberiver11

    No no!!!

When I said "crown" did not think the nickname of the country. But the subject matter of the coat of arms of Gdańsk. This gold object over two silver crosses. The general symbol of Gdansk, there were two silver crosses on a red shield. Crown symbolized the common rule. Therefore, the hypocrisy of the inhabitants of Gdańsk was to use the coat of arms with the crown. How they rationalized the crown? Because unless otherwise?

  • @Elberiver11

I see that the origin of a coat of arms is concealed in German schools. First coat of Gdańsk was very prosaic: Just a commercial vessel. Teutonic Knights created two silver crosses on a red shield. As one of the many prizes for loyalty in the struggle against the Teutonic Knights, Casimir IV Jagiellończyk, added crown. It was a shocking feat.

  • @AZsaturn Listen, Marek: I dont care about your silly coat of arms. If you think the Danzigers using their traditional symbol is "hypocracy", than you Poles living in German houses is hypocracy too, dont you think?

If you don't want to be "hypocrite", you will have to tear down all Danzig houses. None of them was built by Poles until 1945 - they were all built by Germans.

This is not my opinion - it is your own opinion, applied to yourself.

  • @AZsaturn I can sense in every comment you make, that you despise and hate original Danzigers. You do not respect German heritage of Danzig.

You should stop your hate. As long as you hate people of your own city, you will never be in peace at heart. You shoul make peace in your soul with Danzigers. Why dont you invite them back into city? They come for holiday, not for "stealing" your house.

  • @Elberiver11

The source of this coat is very clear. This COA was not selected by drawing lots. They said opinion different than symbolizedthe symbol. Believe me, it always comes when Gunter Grass, the authorities worship him like a living saint. Some of the names of monuments: Fahrenheit's birthplace, Ferber's House, Schumanns' House, Uphagen's House, Victoriaschule ... "Why dont you invite Them back into city?" I am surprised why it is not yet.

  • @AZsaturn Coat is not important to me. Many countries keep coat, even if political system changes. Hitler changed national flag, after he seized power. So is Hitler good example? haha

This was cynical remark. But you should think about it, Marek. Hitler did not accept German flag and created own flag. So he is no hypocrite?

I think question of flags or symbols is subsidiary. Question is, Marek: Why do you hate original population of Danzig? It is people of your city. Do you hate own city?

  • @AZsaturn Yes, but why should authorities not worship Grass? He is not bad person. He always defended Polish inhabitants of Danzig after 1945.

You should appreciate, this is very rare. Most people in the world would certainly not praise the nation who has kicked them out forever. Gunther Grass is not greatest hero, but i think he is good person. Whats your problem with him,. SS-membership ? Russians, French, British and Americans commited same atrocities like SS.

  • Original name of Danzig was "Gyddanzik". Is easier to pronounced, "Gdansk" is hard to pronounce for Western people, because there is no word with "Gd" in western languages. I think "Gyddanzik" sounds good, mixture of Gdansk and of Danzig.

  • @Elberiver11

For 1000 years, this city has many names. Nobody knows who was first. Even in Latin there are three: Gedania, Gedanum, Dantiscum

  • @AZsaturn question is not membership of political party or of military organisation like SS. I think question is personal guilt. Polish and Jewish authorities always promote concept of "collective guilt", this is preposterous. In ethical sense preposterous, and in legal sense its impossible. Gunter Grass has commited atrocities for SS ? Not that i know of.

Danzigers should stop anti-german attitude. City was built by Germans, if Poles reject german heritage, they reject whole soul of city.

  • @Elberiver11

"Danzigers should stop anti-german attitude" - today no exist this attitude.

I have never heard about crimes of Grass. In addition to belonging to a ugly organization. The biggest crime was not to visit the Monument to the Defenders of Post Office. That's all.

Man is a sociable creature. When several members of herd is doing terrible things, the rest has to stop. France during revolution had Vendee.

  • @Elberiver11

You are wrong my friend in Case who build Gdańsk:)

Gdańsk/Danzig was build by slavs "Pomorzanie/Pomeranians"in VIIc

and from Xc belonged to Pomeranian Dukes.

From 1282 Gdańsk belonged to Poland.

German Influences were dated from 1308 when Teutonic Order take this City and murdered citizens.

1454 Gdańsk back to Polish Kingdom.

1793 Prussia incorporated Gdańsk during Second Partinion of Poland.

    XXc you probably know:)

  • @Elberiver11

Thus, rebellious and non-hypocrite Danziger, makes use of arms without the crown. The posting of secession, while using the coat of arms with the crown is the negation of itself.

  • The Germans had asked the Poles many times to stop their terror, but they would not listen. Who actually allowed the hostile Poles do deposit AMMUNITION in a german city? That was you Britishers again. Would we allow the french to occupy English land, to place French arms in the middle of English towns, and cut those towns off from England and place English families under French terror? This is exactly what the wicked British Empire did with Germany. And you of all people complain about the war?

  • @Elberiver11

Everyday Life in the Free City was the same as the daily life before 1919. Most notable were a few Polish mailboxes. The authority of the Second Republic was purely symbolic. I do not even care about the interests of the Polish minority.

  • @merseyside You should reas some history, and especially what your own Prime Minister said about the Polish-German border. He clearly said in Versailles 1919, that placing 2.1 Million German civilians under Polish rule would,. so your own leader "Cause another war". Well, he said that in 1919, which is proof that the wicked British knew very well what they did, when they placed millions of Germans under ALIEN YOKE, and allowed the FRENCH ENEMY to invade us! Read history, mate.

  • @Elberiver11

Not at all. Your 2.1 million civilians just received its rightful ruler. In the old days, everyone could choose their own ruler. Through the move. Do not like the lord? The only solution is packing suitcases.

  • @AZsaturn if you think, that suitcase is best solution, Marek, then be careful because some people might say you should pack suitcase yourself, and go back to Poland. But i repeat: It is not my ideology. It is your ideology.

  • My polish grandad fought at monte cassino and got shot in the back and had to have a liver transplant on the battlefield. Real men.

  • Polish soldiers did a great job to liberiate The Netherlands, manny of them died in battle.

I fully respect the Polish people for saving my country from the nazi's

It's a shame they did not get any attention of the Allies for the good they did in the war.

Like they did at monte casino!

  • lipton how do you know that the poles got no attention,of course they did and do for what they did in the war, britain went to war because germany invaded poland while holland stayed neutral, the polish free government was based in london, polish pilots served with the RAF,and polish troops armed and supplied the british,,the poles only played a small part in liberating holland, its a shame that you dont praise the british who was responsible for the bulk of the liberation of holland

  • Polish soldiers were not invited to participate in the victory parades in London and Moscow in 1945. Poland was more like an object of mutual relations than like a partner of the Great Powers. Western Allies emphasized the heroism and determination of the Polish soldiers and the fact that Poland was a very valuable ally. Polish state that emerged after the war was harmed by subordinating it to the Soviet Union.

  • mannaggia ki v'è muort

  • BTW here's a quote from Field Marshall Harold Alexander - "No other troops in the world but German paratroops could have stood up to such an ordeal and gone on fighting with such ferocity"

  • who the fuck is Field Marszhal Harold alexander I can call my self field marshal and say what ever I want. And if field marshal headed this assualt then he has no credibility at all

  • Field Marshall Alexander was overall commander of Allied forces in Italy. He fought the Germans all the way from Dunkirk. He was a highly decorated First World War veteran and even fought the Bolsheviks in Latvia. I think such a person has a lot of credibility

  • He fought the bolsheviks in Latvia after Poland had forced them out and eneded the Lenin onslaught on Poland in the Polish Russian war 1919-1920. if it wasnt for us Europe would be all communist and if it was not for Sobieski in 1683 you would be a Muslim

  • marcinjan, you say if it wasnt for poland europe would of been communist, how do you work that one out please tell us

  • i did not say that I said if it was not for Poland the communist block would be communist still

  • Mersey: the year 1920 when the Poles stopped the advance of the Bolsheviks on Europe.

  • well said screwylouie,if it wasnt for pilsudski then im convinced that communism would have spread across europe like wildfire.fuckin commie scum.

  • well it took him 2 years to get to milan he must be really credible same way as american generals in Iraq are credible. Maybe u should read Tobruk as well. Thank ur right about his credibility in fighting a war but not credible to fight war world II which is completely difrent from what he fought 20 year earlier but I like a person that has historical knowledge and I dont mean for comments to be mayhem.

  • I don't know what you mean by "Tobruk". Do you the book by that title by Michael Carver?

  • the war in italy would of been over earlier ,just after cassino, the americans and british under general mark clark at anzio, disobeyed orders, when the germans were retreating from cassino, the americans sould have cut the german army off,he went into rome insted, which was empty of germans,he let the german army escape

  • Germany76... I'm assuming you are German, how dare you posting nonsense here or posting here at all ?

After all what your grandfathers have done to Poland you still have guts to open your pathetic mouth ?

Get lost little asshole and don't post back.

  • Man poles doesnt done the BIG job Remember there were:Greeks-anti fashists Italian-Brazilians-Australians etc etc ets LETS NOT FORGET THEM!

  • Germany76 is partly right. The great majority of German troops were withdrawn from the Cassino area on the orders of Kesselring after the Canadian breakthrough at Liri. A token detachment of Fallschirmjaeger were left at the monastery which was subsequently captured by the Poles very heroically. But before this withdrawal the Allies could simply make no headway in this battle. BTW the Poles did not "fry anyone's asses". Casualties were roughly equal on both sides and both sides fought very well.

  • if casualties were equal then germans were losing the poles were going up a mountain agaist fortified postions so casualties should be higher then the germans

  • I was wrong. Allied casualties were 54,000 of which Polish losses were 4,000. German casualties were 20,000.

So Allied casualties were higher. Remember also the Germans were subjected to one of the worst aerial and artillery bombardments in history. Anyway the point is both sides showed a lot of heroism and fighting skill- no need to downgrade any nation here.

  • germany76 - your countrymen had enough and ran away leaving wounded, which Poles helped.

  • by few poles

  • Jak nazywa sie utwor lecacy w tle?

  • The Polish soldier capture Monte Cassino. And we never forget this important date! 17 may 1944 year!

    Bóg, Honor, Ojczyzna!

  • Bog, honor, Ojczyzna bracia rodacy.

  • Polish soldiers did not capture monte casino.Maybe in your dream!!

  • The polish did capture the monastery. After the germans withdrew from it. :)

  • They did capture it without fighting, because all german soldiers left monte cassino.capturing an empty monastry is no honour...

  • The krauts ran away when they found out that the Poles were coming to fry their asses !!!!

  • Actually the Allies had broken the front at other places and the Fallschirmjäger were threatened to be encircled. That´s the reason. Oh, and they had done their job. They had given Kesselring enough time to create another defense line north of Rome, the Gothic Line.

  • right ja we didnt destroy 200 of germans planes in batle of britain 20% of planes destoryed in that batle

  • 6 months ago you said Poles didn't captured monastry. 5 months ago you said that we did but it was unhonour becouse it was empty- why do you think it was empty?! Because aliants pushed germans back and they had to get back. With all repect but you represent nation which in war was completly without honour.

  • germ: You're right. The Poles didn't capture Monte Cassino. It was the Nigerians !!! Dumbass.

  • very nice
