Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin - these are the songwriters who defined the stunning era known as the Great American Songbook. These are the songs that will still be sung in the 22nd century.
I GET CHILLS EVERYTIME I HEAR IT, GOLE PORTER WAS SO SPECIAL AND WHAT HE SHARED WITH US SO SPECIAL., HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS GENIUS IN COMPSING MUSIC. WHAT A CONTRIBUTION TO OUR HISTORY OF MUSIC.
The gift Cole Porter had is afforded to few. It is truly God given. Greatness and pain often go hand in hand. That is what is being heard in his music... Each soul has a way to understand life through music such as this.

Dude, this is a recording from the end of the film "Night and Day" from the scene at the very end where Kevin Kline was singing as Cole Porter as he is DYING and the spirit of his wife joins him. Of course he sounds sick.
@diavolobella1 Actually, the name of the film was "De-Lovely". Starring Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd. It was an amazing film tribute to the legacy of Cole Porter. The man was a song-writing genius the likes of which we may never see again. The standards he created will live on forever, not so the crap they're calling "music" today! The movie has been playing on cable for some time now... try to catch it if you can! You will not be disappointed! Great music, wonderful story line.
There is an art to singing that some people fail to understand. He is not a bad singer not only to me, but obviously not to enough people to give him the role in a musical.
cole porter was a true genius. This movie was one of the last movies my father saw before he passed away,My mom, Dad ,and I would watch , he loved music, we even bought the sondtrack. I will never forget such beautiful songs and scenes.I feel lucky to have shared this with him.I don't mean to sound so down , however I wanted to share my thoughts of how special this song, and movie is to my family. Thank -You
@donna10donna Many seem to worry about context of music attributing that music to the creator... considering his or her lifestyle as the primary factor deciding its excellence... This man had a great gift....... regardless of what he felt should be his lifestyle or choices... The fact is, this is a song based on feelings in life which cannot be contributed to any one lifestyle. Your father obviously appreciated great music.
I like this arrangement. It's such a beautiful song and I think this version seems more haunting and sad than others I've heard ... and maybe that's the point of the song in the first place.
Not bad and I am a fan of Kevin Klines and Ashley Judd. I just listened to Michael Crawfords version though and fell in love with his. Beautiful vocal and great arrangement on Michaels. I just ordered MCs Songs From The Stage And Screen CD so I could have it. Give it a chance and check it out.
THAT is incredible!

@greenteaclub10 And a lot of people don't know that Mr. Kline is two-time Tony Award, both for musicals.
