  • @CASSINOx there reliable as hell the only problem most the rx7s have alot of miles and there age also needs to be taken into consideration any car will have problems when there that old but a nice rebuilt rotary and you will have another 100k+ miles as long as you dont run it lean or try revving it to the moon just like any car there is a red line and its there for a reason

  • ya you need to push the rpm higher and put a video out. i have and rx8 with a greddy turbo kit and borla exhaust and i can hit 180. shift at around 9400 rpm to get your max potential power

  • I have driven s2ks, Si.s, and RSX/teggies. None of which I was impressed. I don't hate on STi or Evos.. I don't care if your car can beat mine. Hondas are not meant for racing.. Yeah I agree for a low power drivers experience maybe.. But they're still gutless and mostly fwd except s2k and I prefer a Si over a 2k anyday. But for 20k on a Si you can get a 11 v6 stang and rape it in every category.. Including gas

So they made quality cars that are FUN as hell to drive.. are amazing on gas. and super reliable. Hondas are super fun to drive.. they may not be the fastest.. but they are sure fun. Its vtec design has never had a single unit faulter. K20a is one of the best new engines of the decade..     their chassis wasnt designed for racing. its front wheel drive.... front wheel drive is not a good idea for a well balanced "race" car.

    an FD rx7 is purely race inspired, with potential to hold huuuggeee horsepower numbers, and dominate time attack tracks.

    and with a 4 rotor...... easily eating turboed v8's at a drag strip.

    if you can handle the fairly often rebuilds then a rotary is a supirior motor.

  • @iamxeddiex no lies... 99 spec twin turbos hit boost at 2.5k rpm and don't run out of breath all the way to 8.5k rpm... 11psi I am making 330 range whp ( I do have a load of supporting mods to run up to about that number)

  • ja, the redline for this engine is 9500rpm. don't be afraid of entering the red zone for brief periods as long as the engine is warm and you're not in neutral.

  • a B16 DelSol is never going to beat an FD RX7 unless it's turbocharged. But I have had had a 1.5L turbo civic keep up with my stock FD up to 110mph. Don't underestimate the huge amount of knowhow out there on making those ecoboxes very fast.

    ps. mazda won lemans and still is the only japanese to do so.

  • @TheEuroperules I don't know what your deal is... but i remember a motor trend or road and track magazine cover that reads NSX killer, with an FD as the cover story. Back in 93ish...

    On some of the other posts, I always changed gears at 8k-8500, it stills pulls nasty all the way up... It seems the owner was short shifting a lot.

  • @hellcat320 Some people are taking my comments out of context. Originally someone posted that RX7s were inferior and that their Del Sol easily destroyed an FD. The Del Sol is not in the same class as an RX7. A stock Del Sol is 90hp. A stock RX7 is 250hp. The point is that some guy dared to call his Del Sol superior to an RX-7, which is pure foolishness. A modded NSX can be fast, modded Civics are inexpensive fun, but there are few that are in the RX7, GT-R & Supra category. Del Sol is not one.

  • @RX7Flash Civics, Accords/TSX and Integras have all competed in Touring car series and have been very successful. JTCC, BTCC, Speed Touring car challenge. Time Attacks and Touges are a great on road tuner cars, however it is not a true representation of a great track performer. And i'd hate to bring it up but American Touge 1 had a Civic EG, with a k20a, just randomly enter the tournament and finish 2nd to the XS Subaru Impreza.

    That said i love FD3S and what they've done in racing.

  • yeah the reving was inconsistent, get it to the 8500rpm mark each time before shift and it will be much quicker

  • it can go a bit faster if you push it a little bit harder. try to rev up upto 8500 rpm.

  • @punkmypickle not really, while you're already by the redline in that gear, keep going higher than the power band, so when you shift into a higher gear your closer to the power band again, this guy when he shifts goes down to 4K, nothing's there

  • @TheRotaryman i see where you are coming from, this guy did shift too short. i personally shift at 7.5 because the amount of power loss after 7.5 does not make up for the extra bit of power down low. a 7.5 shift for me gets me to 5k on the next gear. also, little mods like intake and exhaust will alter your power band slightly so to be accurate it is still best to dyno and decide your shift points for each gear from there.
