It isn't always like this. I'm not from Germany, but been living there for almost 2 years. Very often a train would be late 5-10 minutes, one time it simply didn't come. At ALL. Simply never showed up.
This however goes for the regional trains. the IC and ICE always come on time. Freakishly so, just like on the vid. But, like I said - that doesn't go for everything.
There is a saying in Germany "5 Minuten vor der Zeit ist des Deutschen Pünktlichkeit" which means "5 minutes ahead of time is the Germans punctuality"
And don't worry! We Germans won't bite your head off if you arrive 10 or even 20 seconds too late, but 5 minutes too late could easily lead to WW3! ;-) ... Well, not really.
if you want to know why germans complain about shitty late trains you have to understand that 5 or 10 minutes later than the time it was supposed to arrive is very late by german standards.
And btw if a german invites you at a specific time he expects you to be there at that moment, not coming or looking for a place to park your car but at exactly the agreed on spot at exactly the right time. A few minutes earlier don't hurt either because the german will probably be waiting already by then.

Anyone who's ever waited for an Amtrak-train in the US, knows how on time the German trains really are!

The Deutsche Bahn is really quite often on time, especially compared to other countries.
Most Germans themselves are not really aware of that though, and would tell you their trains suck because they would be too late too often.^^

Add this to the description:
Hint: 15:43 on the left screen is the time the train supposed to arrive. In the beginning of the vid the clock is at 15:42.
When the train arrives, and you hear the sound of the train making contact on arrival the clock seconds hand actually strikes at exactly 15:43.
