Are there any particular authoritative/exhaustive biographies and documentaries available? I did read once that the stereotype we have of this Slavik leader, Dracula, is far different than the myth. Watching this scene I thought about how Mehmed II remarks of himself as as good as Alexander, Julius Caear & Hannibal. Mehmed in real life did think like that but he was wrong. He had vastly greater resources in men and money than Alexander, for instance, and weaker enemies but accomplished much less. Mehmed II did take Constantinople and conquered the Empire of Trebizond and some weak Turkish states. He was a good soldier/average general but calling him a great general is a stretch.

There is the scene in the film where Dracula recruited his aide Bruno. This has some basis in historic fact. Dracula often did his spying all by himself and in disguise. Dracula disguised as a Turkish soldier personally visited Sultan Mehmed II's camp before his famous Night Attack.

Watching this scene I thought about how Mehmed II remarks of himself as as good as Alexander, Julius Caear & Hannibal. Mehmed in real life did think like that but he was wrong. He had vastly greater resources in men and money than Alexander, for instance, and weaker enemies but accomplished much less. Mehmed II did take Constantinople and conquered the Empire of Trebizond and some weak Turkish states. He was a good soldier/average general but calling him a great general is a stretch.
