Not to detract from what is a very sad story, but I'm only 1:05 into this video, and I had to replay it at 1:05 to make sure I was hearing it right. The narrator has a bit of a problem with reading comprehension - he mispronounces "windy," meaning a winding road, as "windy," as if it is affected by the wind. The quality of everything is so very poor lately - not only did he mispronounce it, none of the editors caught it either.

imo the best theory is that she planned on disappearing for just few days in NH, ME w/e, she probably decided on this within a couple days of her disappearence. On the way to her intended location she was stalked and abducted by a wierdo. it just so happened that she was picked up in the window of time after the bus driver found her and around the times the cops showed up. Perhaps she had walked down the road a ways before she was abducted, or she was abducted at the scene.

This is awful! I've only watched part one so far, but it seems like she was EXTREMELY overwhelmed. 2 jobs, albeit part-time, full course load, AND clinicals. Plus a long distance relationship, which is stressful for someone so young. Poor thing. I have friends whose husbands boyfriends suspected they were cheating or something because of how demanding nursing school is. She should have opened up to her dad. He seems like such a sweetheart. She needed a break. Badly!

this is a great example of a bad BAD HORRIBLE police work, it will b undone 4 a long time, a great wonderfull being desapeared, perhaps a nervous breakdown, but u should use more forensics, I think is too late....... I truly hope you are happy maura, far away from demands and high expectations...but I fear that you are just way to smart to sacrifice those you love wellbeing out of selfishness or even just temporary desperation, I feel deep withing n the answer lies closer than we all think :(

todo parece que ella tenia depresion y no supo que hacer y decidio alejarse de todos, lamentablemente ella no esta ya con nosotros, espero que dios bendiga a su padre para que encuentre consuelo en su corazon porque perde a un hijo tiene que ser lo mas feo del mundo ,esta historia sin un final feliz me parte el corazon .

This is such a tragic story. I hate to say this, but friends and family failed miserably in realizing how depressive she really was. Her whole behaviour in the days and hours before she finally disappeared should have raised red flags. The parents are in total denial suspecting foul play at this point. She was deeply troubled, then had the accident. She wanted to get away from all this, and had yet another accident. She was probably drunk, so she ran away. Take a look at the area on google maps.

I think she died that night, somewhere in the woods, and her body simply hasn't been found. There are numerous stories of how this could have happened in the book she had with her. Of course it's possible that some random stranger picked her up when she needed help and then killed her. What's more likely to me is that she staged the whole thing, the second accident, the alcohol, everything, to disappear voluntarily, to start a new life somewhere else. Most likely, she's deceased... :(

My name is also Maura and my birthday weekend was Feb 9th weekend. I was about her age and I drove the same road she was on that night on my way to a ski trip to celebrate my 23rd birthday. Creeoy. I think she got panicky because she had a few drinks and did not want the cops to come so she started out on foot and then took a ride from someone who killed her.
