  • WTF It's that a PAMPER?? lol

  • he tore that shit up

  • DENNIS CHAMBERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is one Bad Mother on Drums!!!!!

  • This is what I'm talkin about. There are alot of knee deep video's bt most of them don't have the guitar solo in them. This right here is the joint...

  • i was honored to have sen them preform at the orphum in flagstaff, az in 2006... very well worth the price! love em!

  • Michael Hampton's guitar solo 2 me is one of the best of all time in Funk music..

  • Is Garry smoking a joint?

  • real live musicians WOW

  • if you could go to prison for killin music... P-funk would be in the big house yo!

  • Yet more evidence to suggest I should be at least 10 years older!

    What an amazing performance!

  • ...pocket presence....luv it

  • So many musicians in the pocket at the same time. Eargasm.

  • Dennis Chambers pre jazz era.

  • Hilarious p-funk fan at 3:14 in the lower left -hand corner if any one caught that.

  • That shit is SMOKIN.

  • I like the way Dennis Chambers somehow combines playing percussion with his drumming. Can't help but admire that. Dude's got skills!

  • Skeet NEVER MISSES A BEAT!!!!

  • 3:12 is just me or is the guitar player out of tune

  • @BuDzManson i think is just you :)

  • where i can find the piano notes?

  • Can you imagin this lot walking into your pub for a swift half . Genius !

  • Gary R.I.P...i'll miss your diaper!!!

  • Gary had an incredible voice and will be sorely missed!

  • What a drummer!

    Sounds like two guys.

  • @vinnycriss The one and only Dennis Chambers. He is a top Jazz Fusion cat these days, and also tours with Santana. He is all over You Tube.

  • I remember when I thought George Clinton sang vocals on this!!!

  • RIP Gary "Diaper Man" Shider

  • Hampton always starts off wicked then he falls out of the pocket and just plays riffs

  • is there anyone who knows if the last part of this vid (i mean from 4.00) is an actual song (or cover or medley) or is just an improvisation? thanx cheers

  • kidd funkadelic lays it down in this song! funk for life, rip Gary!

  • Dang!! I got goose bumps. This classic

  • E io a quel tempo ero a NEW YORK, e comprai COMPUTER GAMES del grande George CLINTON "The Funk"

  • u funked well r.i.p one love

  • awesome, grew up with this song

  • RIP DiaperMan!!!!!!!

  • Dennis Chambers, I LOVE YOU!

  • can someone help me to sample the bass of this song ?

  • RHCP played at this venue... the same night i tihnk

  • Yeah after a while Mike was str8 blazzin all Eddie's signature tunes. No Diss to Ed but Mike was a true Talent that only got appreciated through true funkateers and music appreciators. SHine on Young Man

  • @lookafterlove are you sure you ever heard Eddie play. No disrespect to you, but Mike was no Eddie Hazel.

  • @nubiansista4life never heard Eddie play live in person. I like what funkedbyinjection said : Mike did not have the emotional quality that Eddie had. All in All Mike got better and could do the things Eddie did but of course there will only be 1 Eddie Hazel.

  • @lookafterlove Serious? Watch Red Hot Mama where Eddie Hazel and Bernie Worrell play with The Crunch. Eddie was close to death and still sound and played beautifully. Now, watch Mike Hampton's "Maggot Brain 2008" and you got one hot mess! You know I'm going to quit downplaying Mike, because he appear to be suffering from extended drug use like Eddie did at one time.

  • @lookafterlove surely you jest. mike h couldn't hold eddie's guitar strap in the long run. watch the end of the video and see who puts who in his place. mike never had the emotional quality that eddie had from day one. and yes, i saw them both play.

  • @funkedbyinjection Don't see why people want to continue to compare the two. Each brought something to the table to make the PFunk sound and experience. That is the beauty of the whole PFUNK sound. No two player of the same instrument were the same. Eddie and Mike are great for what they bring.

  • @funkedbyinjection Tell it like is was, EHazel incredible, Kid Funk Incredible JR. The Funkadelics & PFunk, brings the best out of the inner core of your very being, what an assortment of undefinable talent..Sweet dreams Mr Hazel.

  • man...sickness. i saw parliament twice, once in 1992 in the berkeley arena, once at lollapalooza. we saw george clinton leaving out the back door and followed him all the way to the hotel, then jumped out and screamed at them when they went in. what a night - funkadelic parliament - one of earth's finest pleasures!

  • I always looked to Michael for the solo's Eddie had his props but I never heard anything that made me think he was that good. No disses here I may have never heard the tunes, but Michael I did notice. He isn't there half the time but his playing is good. I stopped buying guitar player mag cause they never put him in there. Seems like something happened in this performance.. like the solo was cut short.

  • @newtimes2 well for one Mike had more stage showmanship then Eddie, but when it came to true guitar playing Eddie is in a league of his own. No diss, just my honest opinion. Stay Funky!

  • @nubiansista4life eddie stopped being a showman even before mike h. joined. he stayed in the background and only came forward for solos. it was just his way. he pretty much let his guitar speak for him. and it says plenty.

  • My favorite song.

  • reading all these comments, no one fell this funk, or knows a damn thing about it. i swear this generation sucks ass when it comes to music. I wouldve loved to be alive during this era, when music came of the soul and heart.

  • Me and you both..

  • @JimHrdz

:D yeh this woulda been the best

  • wow ! he could sing his ass off back then ! is that george clinton ? or fake one ?

  • @boogaloo1253 no thats Garry Shider

  • I love Skeet & Chambers!

  • funk mob rules

  • The drummer's amazing. He's combining both drummer and percussionist in his performance. Can't help but admire that. Very good!

  • That drummer is Dennis Chambers in his early years.

  • @meljr The Drummer is Dennis Chambers...when I first heard this recording on disc I thought it was a separate percussionist also...amazing.

  • Due to Good Burger this is probably Funkadelic's well known song along with One Nation Under a Groove. In my opinion Maggot Brain is the bands best record though. Every track is a different genre, even within some of the tracks. Everything from psychedelic rock-hard rock, gospel even. A masterpiece.

  • Free music lessons...Funk is it's own reward.

  • it was a hard struggle y'all...don't get it wrong....p-funk...the bomb...

  • NOT Just Knee Deep- hell no this is BUTT DEEP!!!!!! The best ensemble ever

  • I love Knee Deep. I Remember when it came out. My mother bought it forme when I was 10 yeaers old. that more bounce to the ounce, and Cameosis. Funk was my First Love.

  • this is where ashy larry originated

  • Dennis Chambers was still human here ! . He moves his arms and is actually making an effort lol These days he plays stuff that is ten times more heavy and difficult and he doesn't blink an eye any more ;-)

  • NOW! THAT"S WHAT I"M TALKIN ABOUT!

If you don't know, Don't take her out!

This is the best quality ever.

  • The drummer gets so into it for a relaxed groove, I love it

  • absolutely, he kicks it off so right.

  • Man that's the truth.... DENNIS CHAMBERS!!!!

  • Knock me out Yawl! From W3rd street & Manson Place...

  • Dennis Chambers....BarNone has to be one of the baddiest drummers that ever lived!~ Effortless!!!

  • @Dywanne73 yep!!! i started playin after i saw him on tour...

  • @Dywanne73 YOU KNOW THAT'S RIGHT.....THANKS FOR THE POST

  • @Dywanne73 i heard that...!!!

  • A superb, screaming performance by Hampton stciks pretty close to the studio version. He wasan enormous fretboard talent, although (sadly, deceased) Eddie Hazel was a gargantuan guitar great.

  • @rmsolympic1 sho ya right!

  • they always cut the solo part to this song out!!! on the studio ver. on cd i can never find the solos on there. the bastards they are ruining these guys. you can thank todays gay ass record comanies for that.

  • What are you talking about?

  • i have this album on cd. and the solo to this is taken out. wen i hear it on the radio. the solo is also taken out!!! they are making these guys seem less talented and its pissing me off!!!

  • Do you have a greatest hits collection? Because every CD copy of this album that I have has the guitar solo intact. The version that you hear on the radio is an edit that the radio station did themselves, since the 45 edit isn't available on CD. And as we all know, radio doesn't like to play the 15:23 version.

  • only parliament can be taken seriously wearing a flippen diaper lol!!!

  • my nigga dennis on the drums!

  • We need more of this in the world

  • cool

if only every 1 2day was like this

music wouldnt be dead cause of r@b

  • Michael Hampton was doing the damn thang with that lead guitar.

  • Incredibly undefined talent >>>UTube has re addicted me to the P-Funk...the best!!!!!!!!!

  • so true ... i'm addicted too :)

  • Comment removed

  • "........it always makes me dance"

  • One might say we're GONE- hook, line & sinker!!!! At least this addiction is alot cheaper than most and "keep it on the one" !!!!!!

  • Yep, you called it right, baby. That's my jam, "Rubber Duckie".

  • isnt the last jam/song rubber duckie? by bootsy collins?

  • ultimate awesomeness, what happened to black bands?

    He was one of the LEAD SINGERS on KNEE DEEP :~}

    AWESOME POST!!

  • My personal favorite guitar solo of all time! Just made my own personal two cd set of Parliament Funkadelic. They are the greatest funk or R&B band ever! Youtube is one of the greatest things ever.... when i saw them in concert in the 80's I thought a fat white guy played the solo... did I remember it wrong???

  • fat white guy??

    I think that was Farmadelic

Was John Cougar or Willie Nelson singing

  • this is so epic

  • Who's on bass?

Looks a bit like Vic Wooten even tho I know it isn't!

  • That's Dennis Chambers. Get Live at Berverly Hills Theatre release on Westbound 1990. Dennis plays on it. Sickest live stuff I've heard.

  • @versionsound, Cosmic Slop!

  • You ain't never lied!!! I had a friend record it onto cassette from his CD!! And until I saw this, I thought that there was a percussionist playing as well. But no, IT'S JUST DENNIS KILLING IT!!!!!!

  • OMFG....that solo...damn man....that wast the shit

  • this prove that the MotherShip goes to ALL...lol

  • I am so High off the FUNK, I can't come down!

  • This clip is def from Germany. It's from their Rockpalast Special (Rockpalast is a German music show that has featured many great artists over the past few decades). They have been playing this special on my Digital Cable On Demand for the past month. I've watched it like 20 times cuz it's soo sick!!!!!

  • Fuckin' unreal. I wish I was 20 in the 70's.

  • What an ENDING!!!!!!!!

    Dennis, you da fuckin MAN!

  • What's up with all the ignorant remarks about Germany/Germans?

We appreciate the FUNK just like anybody else.

I've seen George Clinton in Munich twice and both shows were amazing with all the people going crazy for 4 hours!

  • The mothership flies to all regions and all peoples

  • it all about the essence of our music, in its supernatural state. it was ahead of it time in the 70's. and so it goes to show you that it takes white folks, germans, or what the hell ever, to get hip, even if its a decade too late! black folk are supernatural; sooner or late the world will wake up. so put that in your peace pipe and smoke on it a while, {free your mind and your arse will follow)

  • Was it on Germany for sure??? Maye Holland or Switzerland... Germans dont go crazy with funk stuffs!!!

  • @undercoveralien,

    - dat's not right, I'm a german ass an believ me,I-man go real damn crazy fe funk stuffs, man.

  • Rubber Duckie by Bootsy

  • Rubber Duckie is the song the segue into after Knee Deep then closing with the intro to Disco To Go by the Brides of Funkenstein

  • Denny Cham is a "Funkin' Idot"...he playing Larry's percussion parts within his own groove..He's a bad bad man!!!! This must have been close to Eddie's last days..he looks pretty bad..RIP

  • Eddie died a few years later, but he still kept the funk. His playing didn't deteriorate either. Check out the Axiom Funk album and listen to Orbitron Attack and Pray My Soul. His body may have been going, but his soul wasn't :)
