My dad would NOT let me watch FRIDAYS and we argued SOOO MUCH the night The Cars were on! I missed it back then and I had a resentment for decades!!! I promised I would only watch the band and not the "warped, twisted" comedy but he would not give in. This era/album marked the peak of my fanaticism over The Cars. My dad had no idea, rest his soul. I'm so glad you posted these rare videos!!! Thanks.
Great minds think alike!!! I recorded this same performance and it's been the most popular video I've ever uploaded to my channel. Congratulations on a great channel and some amazing videos.
@morrisonAV I almost didn't post it because I saw it had already been posted by others. I went ahead because no one had posted their other performance from that show - Shoo Be Doo/Gimme Some Slack. You have a great channel as well!
This show is strange. Ben is alone behind . I feel like Ric decided to be the star that night. Ultimately ,it did nothing ,because all eyes are on Ben. It is the most beautiful man I've ever seen . And most humble . RIP my loved Benjamin. You was the best.
This video shows the bully side of Ric. He continually stepped in front of Ben. He walked over to play with Elliot (in Ben's space) I heard Ric say that him and Ben were in a 20+ yr. cold-war. I wonder why. I thoroughly believe that Ric was happy having everyone think that he sung lead in all the songs. I'm sure Ric was jealous of Ben's talents and good looks. So sad for Ben.
One more thing....I totally Love Elliot Easton, but darling, whoever talked you into that haircut was WRONG.
Thanks to all the commentors and the poster. This sounds good. Listenable. Likeable. When your favorite band's are a bit kooky and then they get serious, it takes the fun out. I've given Panorama many chances, but this time maybe I'll get it.
Next you're gonna tell me 'The Elder" was good? hahaha NOT!
and to think so many die hard Cars fans trashed the entire album this was on :"Panorama". thought they 'sold out'-NOT AT ALL. I, for one, loved the album...just not this song-lol We hardly see Ben here-very bad lighting and cameraman-uugghhh
@cocatwoman7 I find it strange that anyone would think the band "sold out" with PANORAMA. It is possibly their least commercial album and it's my personal favorite by the band. Even this song. The next album, SHAKE IT UP, I thought was a more commercial turn and I didn't like it too much upon release. But I gave it another chance and I really like it too. I mentioned on another video that although The Cars sold a lot of records, I don't think they get the same respect many other 80's bands get.
Only terrific... Benjamin too far in the back but better a little Benjamin than none at all...He really is missed so very much.... Hope he knows that... thanks for posting this...

The REAL Cars fans did not trash this album, only the pretenders. No problem, they went back to Duran Duran.
