Yeah, admittedly she did go slightly, JUST slightly off-key a couple times during her live performance, but really, with an empowering and tremendously, superbly powerful voice like that, that factor is assuredly overlooked. She has MAD vocals; she was definitely my favorite in this season alongside Michael Johns. It's kind of a bummer though because I REALLY wanted her to be in the Final 2, and this performance proves why she deserved to be there.

@kelvinpyaeko i agree with you on so many levels! now i do watch idol but there are really only a FEW now these past seasons who can really sing and hae the potential to be a great singer. haley reinhart is one of those, which is why she's my fav now and sadly she prob won't win because america doesn't like those who are differnet and show us how it is really done

I must say that end run gave me goosebumps, Syesha was much better than all the other American Idol contestants. What I've noted is that although Syesha did a great job for her rendition of "Vanishing", Mariah's original 1990 version tops this, Mariah had perfect timing when she sang this. (as it was her song), Vanishing is in my opinion the hardest Mariah song, you really need to have a power house voice to actually give the song justice, and I think Syesha did (especially towards the end)
David A was overrated and dumb to me. Syesha should have been in the finale! She was amazing vocally and delivered very solid performances; being this the perfect proof! "A song not too many people know about?!" Seriously? I have heard it before and I'm no Mariah Carey fan. I agree with ricobhi: if she had chosen one of her commercial hits Simon would have bashed her still; but just because she wasn't one of his faves anymore and needed to favor those he liked (David A) to influence public vote
And Simon was such a shithead, because if Syesha had chosen a more "commercial" song, he would have criticized her for trying to sound too much like Mariah and failing. She made an excellent choice with this song in the end.

She's a great singer, all of her performances were great, yet they only gave her the compliments she deserve during "One Rock and Roll too Many" Oh well, the seasons long done... she reached 3rd place, plus she's starring in the Dreamgirls tour as Deena Jones and is working on her album! Gosh Simon ticked me off all season with Syesha. Archuleta's "When You Believe" was good, but it wasn't anything special (?), so why had he 'stolen' the show at this point?
Gee, do you think maybe these things are manipulated a bit by the producers? Don't forget, some contestants like David A. are placed on the show by agents and producers who have worked with them in the past and they are guaranteed to stay on the show for a certain time period. That's even true for Syesha who came over from the quickly canceled The One: Making a Music Star. We know much of the top ten is pre-selected, so it's not a stretch to think that it goes beyond that.
Agree with other comments here. Syesha is incredibly beautiful and sexy, I love this girl. I would prefer watching her in concert to Susan Boyle. She looks so hot here. I've been looking for a poster of Syesha ever since she was on American Idol and can't find any. Someone this beautiful should have posters!
Last night I watched a show about former American Idol contestants and what they're doing now and Syesha is oneof the few I remember. I reallyhope to hear her on the radio one day. She's great!

Living in other country, I've never watched this show, did not know who this girl is and so on. But I watched her and listened to her with my jaw dropped. She is AMAZING!!! Beautiful, talented, with heavenly voice. I'll go google now and see if she has cd or what, because she is SO F...CKING GOOD.
What were the judges on that night. Everything all the boys did was amazing and everything all the girls did was either mediocre or bad and they actually weren't. Syesha deserved to be in the top three for voting that week, not bottom three.
I personally thought this performance was one of her best performaces of that season. I also think that Simon was being unfair to Syesha that night, and so was Randy. He says the same damn all the time, and it makes me wonder if he still has talent. Anyway, Syesha gave me chills in this performance
i rewatched some vids from past seasons and she spoke clearly (most of the time) and pretty naturally. but this season it always seemed like she was caught off guard. she slurs her words, and half the time doesn't seem to know what's going on. But when she is on it she is on it and she makes some good points... but still this season she just did not fit.
I liked this performance when I saw it, then I went back and listened to the Mariah Carey version of this song for the first time in a long time, and now I can't listen to Syesha sing this song. Syesha's a good singer and all, but this song... this isn't just any "hard to sing" Mariah Carey song, this is one of those "hard to sing, custom-made by Mariah for Mariah's voice" kind of Mariah Carey songs.

I think Simon likes the song indeed, he was simply saying it probably wasn't a good idea to perform it because it's not well known but I disagree because Paula honestly had it... she picked a song where she wouldn't be compared because it IS less known so good on Syesha's part cuz she was through!
True, but I still believe Simon wasn't being truly fair in his comments that night... I believe during Archie's performance he said "I think the guys will have a better night because they won't be compared" so I think he was trying to make it a guys night- meaning he gave all the guys compliments no matter what and put the girls down no matter what. And Archuleta performed first, so... I don't know that's just how I feel. Simon does that stuff a lot and I hate it.
Simon's got to be careful because people tend to listen to him. I'm sure they wanted a guy to win this year so they may have wanted Simon to go out there and compliment the men a whole lot. Plus, Simon builds favorites if anyone's noticed and sometimes makes his comments based off that.
yeah.. i mean no offense to little David because he has got a great great voice, but on performances just like any other Simon called it amazing when it wasn't and that angered me a bit. i mean you see on here he said so far Archuleta was the one to beat, well it wasn't an amazing performance. idk
It's funny how Simon told her that she was taking a risk singing well known songs of Whitney and Fantasia and she failed to comparison with them. I didn't think she failed. And then she chose a not so well known song and Simon bashed her again. This must have been terribly confusing for her. Simon is an idiot.

I get that people love Mariah's power, but I've gotta say, the part of her voice that impresses me the most is how beautiful her lower register is.
To me, the magic comes from she hits those low notes with the sultry and pure tone.

AI may be rigged at TIMES but Syesha's elimination was not. Her fanbase is not as big as the David's.

Gee, do you think maybe these things are manipulated a bit by the producers? Don't forget, some contestants like David A. are placed on the show by agents and producers who have worked with them in the past and they are guaranteed to stay on the show for a certain time period. That's even true for Syesha who came over from the quickly canceled The One: Making a Music Star. We know much of the top ten is pre-selected, so it's not a stretch to think that it goes beyond that.

Agree with other comments here. Syesha is incredibly beautiful and sexy, I love this girl. I would prefer watching her in concert to Susan Boyle. She looks so hot here. I've been looking for a poster of Syesha ever since she was on American Idol and can't find any. Someone this beautiful should have posters!

Now as a Mariah MEGA FAN, I have to say that NO ONE vocally has taken on Mariah as well as Syesha did. She was the only one to give Mariah-ish vocals. Simon and Randy was just hatin on her.

wtf...even when she does good simon has to find something wrong with it...what a pessimist(sp?)No one and I mean NO ONE came close to the technical perfection that Syesha has ehibited on this show EVER...either the voices were too powerful, or too soft...Syesha has the inate ability to beautifully change from full voice to the softer side of her voice while still sounding magnificant. She deserves all the praise for this and many of her other performances...

I really Don't want her to do Broadway, but sadly I think thats what she'll do. I want her to become a recording artist, she's fantastic & deserves a record deal. This was a MIND BLOWING Performance which prooves she's as good as anyone out there in the charts.

Living in other country, I've never watched this show, did not know who this girl is and so on. But I watched her and listened to her with my jaw dropped. She is AMAZING!!! Beautiful, talented, with heavenly voice. I'll go google now and see if she has cd or what, because she is SO F...CKING GOOD.

What were the judges on that night. Everything all the boys did was amazing and everything all the girls did was either mediocre or bad and they actually weren't. Syesha deserved to be in the top three for voting that week, not bottom three.

I personally thought this performance was one of her best performaces of that season. I also think that Simon was being unfair to Syesha that night, and so was Randy. He says the same damn all the time, and it makes me wonder if he still has talent. Anyway, Syesha gave me chills in this performance

lol oh i know it i hope so too.
i rewatched some vids from past seasons and she spoke clearly (most of the time) and pretty naturally. but this season it always seemed like she was caught off guard. she slurs her words, and half the time doesn't seem to know what's going on. But when she is on it she is on it and she makes some good points... but still this season she just did not fit.

I liked this performance when I saw it, then I went back and listened to the Mariah Carey version of this song for the first time in a long time, and now I can't listen to Syesha sing this song. Syesha's a good singer and all, but this song... this isn't just any "hard to sing" Mariah Carey song, this is one of those "hard to sing, custom-made by Mariah for Mariah's voice" kind of Mariah Carey songs.

I think Simon likes the song indeed, he was simply saying it probably wasn't a good idea to perform it because it's not well known but I disagree because Paula honestly had it... she picked a song where she wouldn't be compared because it IS less known so good on Syesha's part cuz she was through!

True, but I still believe Simon wasn't being truly fair in his comments that night... I believe during Archie's performance he said "I think the guys will have a better night because they won't be compared" so I think he was trying to make it a guys night- meaning he gave all the guys compliments no matter what and put the girls down no matter what. And Archuleta performed first, so... I don't know that's just how I feel. Simon does that stuff a lot and I hate it.

Simon's got to be careful because people tend to listen to him. I'm sure they wanted a guy to win this year so they may have wanted Simon to go out there and compliment the men a whole lot. Plus, Simon builds favorites if anyone's noticed and sometimes makes his comments based off that.

It's funny how Simon told her that she was taking a risk singing well known songs of Whitney and Fantasia and she failed to comparison with them. I didn't think she failed. And then she chose a not so well known song and Simon bashed her again. This must have been terribly confusing for her. Simon is an idiot.
