While one of the police officers was arresting the operator for violating the law, two others were attempting to search the inside of the vehicle. The woman was BEHIND the cops in her yard being a distraction. They asked her very politely to go back in house.
All these tickets were dropped, and these officers wasted their time. The Sargent, or Chief can't recall which, made a public apology for this type of retaliation, and stated he would not tolerate it. These officers were just pissed because a citizen made it national news of their misdeeds.

"Citizen Police Force" is just another name for mob rule, which results in injustice at least as great as a corrupt government police force. What should be done is have the NYSP investigate all the actions of RPD regarding this matter. We're seeing enough erosion of the Constitution without mob rule, or police-state tactics. Man is to be governed by law, not by the whims of any one person, or group of people. There are tools provided in law to deal with such over-reaching by police. Use them.

It's disturbing to see police officers using plastic rulers to determine whether cars are 12 inches or 12-and-a-half inches from the curb. If this is not retaliation, then it is outright intimidation.

Don't take this out on the cops giving the tickets, i can tell they were pissed because they were ordered out there. That is obvious, due to how they vocalized the measurements and used the loud ruler, called out the measurements and said "a law all of sudden being enforced". Cop don't talk like that when they are doing something they want to do. But when they are forced to do it. Determine who ordered it and get rid of them

I think these cops were pissed, but not at these people, but because their boss told them to do it. They probably know or would expect to see these people in the community they serve. I say this because they were over doing it with the loud color ruler and how they took the measurements and kept calling out the measurements. They didn't have to inform the other cops how far the car was away from the curve. Usually cops don't bother measuring. They normally just guess.

"Citizen Police Force" is just another name for mob rule, which results in injustice at least as great as a corrupt government police force. What should be done is have the NYSP investigate all the actions of RPD regarding this matter. We're seeing enough erosion of the Constitution without mob rule, or police-state tactics. Man is to be governed by law, not by the whims of any one person, or group of people. There are tools provided in law to deal with such over-reaching by police. Use them.

It's disturbing to see police officers using plastic rulers to determine whether cars are 12 inches or 12-and-a-half inches from the curb. If this is not retaliation, then it is outright intimidation.
Nevertheless, it looked that these police officers were not happy doing somebody's dirty work. I bet some of these officers will leak to the media who gave this unwise order. Because despite the official denials, this was not a regular enforcement.

I would have loved to see the looks on their faces if several large men came out and started lifting the cars, front and rear, and moving them sideways closer to the curb. In most communities, the distance is 18 inches. I guess they need more revenue.

Dickhead Cops! I live in the area and I heard an off duty Irondequoit officer got into a bar fight with his brother at a downtown "East Ave" bar recently. WTF? These pricks are mostly the kids in highschool that were picked on. Bunch of d bags. Trust me, they don't give two shits about policing our city and towns... They do it for the pay check. Dicks!

The cop didn't need to arrest that girl, but why did she feel the need to raise her voice, get confrontational and get all hard and shit? Why couldn't she have backed up closer to her home and she would've been fine.
Many cops are power tripping, but why give them a reason to mess with you? Especially over something as minor as this? Doesn't matter if she's right or not, just back the fuck up and everything is fine, but noooo she had to go power tripping herself because its 'her right'.

This is unbelieveable. I am calling all of the TV news channels and notifying the Democrat & Chronicle. Apparently the Chief of Police has absolutely no controll over his men if this type of intimidation is allowed. I thought they were working on gaining community trust? This is absolute police intimidation and a violation of their orders to "protect and serve". Disgusting!
