@jacoale depends on your view of douche :P. i dont like escalades, but they idea is that small cars get good mpg anyway, its the big cars that need mpg improving. hwy mpg isnt great, but thats gm's fault for not knowing how to build a half decent diesel. the main improvement is the city mpg, which obviously increases you av to around 19/20 mpg which is pretty good.

Listen people, he said it in the video: the mileage is good FOR a 3 tonne truck! The original gets 15mpg, so at 20mpg, it's a 33% improvement. You don't get this if you want "a hybrid," i.e. save gas, you get it if you want an *Escalade* with 20mpg. 1 in 3 Escalades sold now are hybrids.

@AgentOrange04 I agree with you very much, diesel SUVs are very beneficial. Take a look at the Audi Q7 TDI. 18 in the city, and 26 on the highway, for an SUV of that size, unheard of. The normal petrol engine gets 14 city and 20 highway. On a tank of diesel it can get around 700 miles if you're conservative. You're essentially doubling your mileage. BMW and Mercedes did diesel versions of their X5, and the ML, as well as the GL. I wish there was more of an option with GM and others.
I know. Small diesel SUV's are very popular in Europe. The problem is that so many American still consider diesels to be noisy and smelly. That is not the case with new diesel engines.

Nobyody in europe buys american cars for several reasons. Its too big for the roads. Its mpg at 21 is still to small. Its interior is usually lower quality and has pooorer ride comfort and worse suspension the a land rover or an audi q7 or even a vw tuareg. I think you are talking about the lever on the right side? If so, it is a steering column mounted gear selector. Notice there is no consul mounted gear selector at 2:29. In this case though, because it is a variable transmission, I shouldn't call it a gear selector.

I think you are talking about the lever on the right side? If so, it is a steering column mounted gear selector. Notice there is no consul mounted gear selector at 2:29. In this case though, because it is a variable transmission, I shouldn't call it a gear selector.

Thats not true. In Europe, american cars were the symbol of wealth for many, and for many they are still superior thanks to their more agressive styling. Since we can afford it, we only buy american cars. I love Jeeps, Cadillacs, Lincolns!
