  • this would be Ko Bu Do, not Karate. Karate stands for bear-hand way

  • fort minor remember the name is the song at the beginning

  • tell me the song

  • Wow.

  • Omg he is lime a fith degree black velt

  • wtf whats the song?!?

  • Nice vid bro

  • song at the beginning of the vid?

  • Yes and yes. That's where I picked up the knowledge that outside of wartime fighters-no matter what style they did-were recognised and celebrated as athletes. And I doubt this would be ridiculed, there is such a thing as appreciation for the fruits of hard work in Okinawa.

  • @psychedashell your imagination is getting the best of you. Appreciation of hard work? This guy is a baton majorette masquerading as a martial artist. No true martial artist will or would ever appreciate this horse shit.

  • @gojuryukarateka So Monkey style doesn't exist? Capoera? Drunken Boxing? There's plenty of styles that value speed and agility over raw power. Frankly I'd be delighted to be able to move like that, you're sounding like a bitter bastard who tried, failed and labelled it useless.

  • Personally i think that even if this would be appreciated or not, who wouldn't want to fight/move like that?

  • @psychedashell you're right with your assessment that speed and agility are valued above raw strength ... but you left out the part about how this guy is an embarrassment to the art of kobudo. This is acrobats, not martial arts.

  • @gojuryukarateka His is an acrobatic martial art, just like monkey style. I bet plenty of practitioners of direct styles have mocked that style as nothing more than a dance or foolery and wound up with broken jaws. Martial arts are adaptable, that's how they work. Karate has adapted Muay Thai kicks, Jujitsu locks and Boxing fist skills into its fold, if you can accomplish it why not add some attributes from an acrobat?

  • @psychedashell Wrong again. Traditional karate has never and will never adapt nor adopt Muay Thai kicks, Jujitsu locks or Boxing fist skills. Traditional karate is as its title states "traditional" as is Kobudo and Bojitsu. Therefore not influenced by outside arts and fads. This video demonstrates a fucking idiot acting like a fucking idiot.

  • @gojuryukarateka Kyokushin has, several Shotokan and Kempo styles have, and guess what Gojuryu schools have too. Karate didn't become karate until it spent several years being practiced in Japan. Pull your head out of tradition's arse and notice the fact that Karate has evolved since it's beginning, it hasn't stalled-you have.

  • @psychedashell You don't have a clue. Shotokan has not changed in Japan and neither has Kempo or Gojuryu. The problem is outside Japan where people like to boast about the art but never spend the time to hone their skill. What you end up with is assholes like Mike Welch who doesn't even understand when one should and shouldn't kiai, which means he doesn't understand Ki, which means he doesn't understand the art of kobudo.

  • @gojuryukarateka Change exists inside Japan too, don't kid yourself. I don't just mean the name karate, ways of doing moves have been changed and updated, sport science has been included and I think that's all for the better. The only traditions that should be set are hard work, respect and an open mind.

  • @psychedashell Change does not exist in real Japanese karate, only sport karate. Obviously you are very young and do not understand. Give it time, eventually you will. I have been studying karate for almost 50 years, kobudo for about 40, and have lived in Japan for 37, and I have never experienced one single change in kihon here. Never. Therefore to me your comments are are just hot air coming from a neophyte that likes spewing what he perceives as reality, but in fact is just nonsense.

  • @gojuryukarateka Been doing karate for 60 years here and I say there's been a lot of change.

  • @PaladinswordSaurfang then i guess you're too fucking old to identify fact from fiction ... blame it on your senility.

  • @gojuryukarateka Lol nope :)

  • C: Nice.

  • you would die the first 5 sec. against him the rest is just to humiliate you

  • Everyone needs to quit complaining i would like to see u do that

  • its all about me!!! look how good i am,i cant stand the arrogance!!cant be classed as Martial Arts, extreme dance would be a better name for it,the probably i would apreciate it,but Martial art it is not,to call it that is disrespectful of all the weapons masters

  • GREAAATT nice staff masterand nice acrobatics!!

your bo staff is in aluminium?? bescause mind is in wood it seem to be heavier

  • GREAAATT nice staff masterand nice acrobatics!!

your bo staff is in aluminium??

  • this guy is just entertainment to much flashy moves not a single block or strike so what i looking for?

  • @digtongo Yeah, about that; you're an idiot - the entire kata is full of blocks and and strikes. lol.

  • @Jackaloves you can suck my dick you pussy probably you are one of this kobudokan wanna doing gymnastic with a tooth pick lol!!!

  • Man steps in and acts like a lion. Shouting AARGHROAAAH! And then he steps back and starts spinning his stick like there is no gravity invented.

While his opponent keeps a short distance looks at this speedy spinning. Then he steps forward and does a hooking block and hits to head. - Roaaah!

The performer tryes to do one of his extremely flying kick, but ends up getting a simple kedan nuki to his knee.

The opponet steps back and takes kamae. - The battle is over.

  • Then one man came in with a tooth pick and put him down with a one hit.

  • What a boss.

  • ¨Karate bo¨ ????!!!!!! ha ha Translated is: Empty Hand Staff¨. ha ha

  • Great! however to me it was sloppy...i know your thinking that i dont know what i'm talking about, but i do because i'm also a martial artist and i do bostaff...Don't get my wrong it was amazing, and i understand that it was "extreme" but sharpen up the technique.

  • My question is in a real fight can do that ? may be not is a fake , just trash an by the way an exibition thas't simple but not in a fight jajajajajajaj

  • I would love to see Donatello do that.

  • Ha ha the title: Awesome extreme bo staff karate form.

1- bo staff: bo means staff .... so you are saying staff staff...... ha ha

2- Karate means empty hand..... no empty hand here...ha ha.

    Change to: Awesome freestyle acrobatics.

  • @shotokiss Most karate schools have some form of weapons training attached. So you'd find that most karate students in spite of practicing 'empty hands' are also fairly familliar with some kind of weapon.

  • @psychedashell I agree with you 100% I teach all my Karate students weapons also. But I do let them know it is not Karate it is Kobudo. Bo-jutsu if we are doing bo. "Karate Bo" is no different than saying training Staff with my empty hands! So it is incorrect. Once I heard someone saying they train Karate so I asked what style. Thinking he would say Shotokan, Shito Ryo, Wado Ryu, Kyokushin or some other Karate style. And the person said Tang So Do. It seems in USA people use Karate instead of MA

  • @shotokiss In spite of practicing with tonfa and bo I've never really considered myself to be a student of either weapon, they've always just been a training tool for improving co-ordination in my eyes. It could be that Kyokushin isn't as traditional as other schools or because I've never cared too much for weaponry, I've just never considered them seperate. Maybe they did karate and now do TSD and misunderstood your question...maybe they're full of it...?

  • I wouldn't want to stand anywhere near this guy. LOL

  • @SutharsanJIsles Why if he hits you with that tooth pick it would just break....ha ja ....joking

  • I would love to challenge that fellow to some kumite. How many times should I help him up off the floor before he gives up? After 30 years in the martial arts I have seen all of this crap. Most open tournaments look like a circus now. WWE of martial arts.

  • Calm down cracker-san's, he may not have been using any "real" martial art like the kind we studied, but he did get the kid's interested in what karate, seidokan, kung fu, etc. really is. Who knows, maybe a lot of them will take up a class because of this guy showing off like the attention whore he is.

  • quite sad

  • those 49+ dislikes are those that are just jealous lol

  • i wonder how many times he hit himself in the nut

  • @deerslayerjud thats not funny. at all.

  • He's the state champ in baton twirling! Whatever shit that was, it was not karate or kobudo. He ought to be ashamed.

  • @bobzielinski why don't you challenge him to a fight then you cocky retard?

  • @kormos94 A) You're a dick; B) you have no absolutely understanding of classical kobudo or karate; C) you're still a dick and D) who the fuck asked you? You dick!

I've had bowel movements that knew more about martial arts than a simian like you. Did your sensei raise you so poorly that you've turned out this way? It really must suck to be you.

  • Yes, it's the "let's dance with a stick" game... with shouting.

    Ho hum.

  • Hey can you tell me what kind of bo staff that is?

    Fiberglass? Alluminum? Ash?Plastic

But either way you are wickdly awesome!!!!~~~

    Please reply fast!!~

  • Ohhh...

  • It is Karate (Empty Handed)

  • That was awesome. What style is this?

  • hahahaha the kids are eating it up

  • im good at bo staff and this guy is awesome !

  • That's the best Bo routine I have ever seen. If the Bo don't get you, then the flying kick will.

  • How to NOT lose a bar fight...

  • Flips or not Wayne Dalgish could kick this guys ass!

  • you should see this guy's new stuff. search him "Mike Welch" or watch him perform on the ESPN2 telecast of the U.S.Open.

  • Name of the song he did the Kata to?

  • this guy is the best person i had ever seen with bo staff

  • I'm tired just watching. Impressive.

  • he seems very angry, martial artists shouldn't be angry in a fight. some good form though

  • Amazing Form with Bo Sir!

  • awesome!!

  • i think he shit his pants

  • whats the song at the start?

  • gähn immer diese ami show einlagen mehr leichtathletik als kraft

  • A year and a half of baton twirling and maybe two years of gymnastics and one could do the exact same thing.

    With 90% less screaming.

  • bullshit thats korean, not even close to tradional okinawan jajajaja what a joke okinawan is for real, not a ballet or gimnastic bullshit please do not compare it to karate nor okinawan.

  • @digtongo HAHA true true but at least when I still competed in tournaments all styles except for kung fu were going towards the XMA style (lots of spinny spinny was that a gymnastics routine? yay!) Plus one of the first XMA'ers I saw supposedly practiced "Karate" But yeah you're right real Japanese arts are real/practical. Also I practiced a Korean art known as Kuk Sool Won which is pretty practical and not overly flashy or whatever :)

  • Hahaha he's just so INTO it :)

  • That being said, mms fighters, kickboxers, or boxers wouldn't go to these vids just to poke fun. So whomever is knocking these competitors are ignorant. I've been a cop for 17 years and I've seen point fighters knock the smacks outa guys in bar fights. They were waaay faster than the bar guys.

  • @godanp well said godanp, i myself have self taught myself in various weapon forms, i look at it this way martial arts should be respected in all forms...in whatever skill Lvl, from master to self taught..does it really matter who or whats the best forms..or person. a little bit... martial arts was built upon to protect yourself and the people you care for. it just seems a bit sad that some have forgot the main roots..and only care about flash speed and power ,and not the meanings behind it all

  • I wish people would stop comparing tournament and xtreme competitions to real life. Apples and oranges. This was, by far one of the BEST creative Bo forms I've ever seen. By the way, most point fighters and weapon competitors are very conditioned athletes and would probably destroy the average person in a fight.

  • that was gross

  • LOL. American...

  • Sure its a extremely cool kata, but it isnt traditional, or neccesary. Would you really do that while fighting? its just to show off. More like a dance, with a staff

  • my balls just twitched a little

  • dude omg kicks unlimited i used to go there haha. mike welch is a boss

  • power pole extend!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beastie moves!!!! Did u use a light weight bow or a heavy one?

  • Wow...this guyz one of my new HERO'S

  • omfg dude u was BEAST!!!! i freakin loved it haha one i hope to at least do all tht wit out endin in the hospital! :)

  • i want to see a drunken monkey bo staff

  • extra points 4 energy lol

  • What a lame crowd. Seems all they cheered at were the flips and acrobatic stunts rather than the staff technique.

  • @LordTyrannus Sad fact is that his staff work wasn't that impressive. He stops the staff everytime he takes to the air, his moves aren't stopped well or crisply and his staff is lighter to make those things easier, a months practice and most people could do equal or better. But for sheer athletisism this guy deserves applause. Lots of applause and cheering, which is why he got it.

  • DAMN!!!!!!!!!

  • what form of karate is this? this is defintely not kempo. it looks more like some form of kung fu. i know some kung fu schools wear red gis but they usualy wear sashes instead of belts

  • why the extreme faces lolo

  • wow hes not even asian jk haha

    DAMN nice job!

  • lol...martial artist that has served jail time...nice.

  • x\

  • awesome moves! got more talent in his right hand than an mma fighter has brains! ha ha ha!

  • what type of bo did he use?

  • Amazing video, I agree it would be good to see him using a fully weighted bo, but 10/10 for what he does do!

In relation to everyone saying this is not Karate, are you talking about shotokan, kyokushinkai or another variation? Karate does indeed mean open hand but it doesnt litterally mean your hands always have to be open, stop being so litteral! :D

  • Needless to say, he won the tournament.

  • Needless to say, he won the tournament.

  • i think he should have focused more on some very advanced spins other then just kicks and figure 8's and advanced figure 8's. over all very good!

  • i dont care who says this isnt real self defense or a real martial art..this dude deserves any damn trophy or sort of reward you can give em.

  • shit,i thought i was good o.O

  • wonder who would win between this guy and taylor lautner

  • I thought It was bad ass

  • Not Karate. Karate is the martial art of the EMPTY HAND.

  • @glavorez

    that's tae kwon do

  • that is not karate of course but it's very nice to see - needs a enormous elapse of time to be prapared!

  • karate went down the crapper when it became about posing

thats why no one cares about it

u wont get the respect of a grappler who can also kick and punch

    believe it or not

  • I think i just found Darth Maul

  • Sure.. spinning a tooth pick is easy, I want to see him do all that fancy stuff with a real bo staff

  • Comment removed

  • @DrkRonin19 since you say its so easy lets see you do it, cause i sure enough know i cant and if i could i would prove it

  • @Cheadog337 If I had access to one still I would. But all I use now is a real bo * by real I mean wooden, 6ft bo* My comment was more so at the disappointment at the loss of tradition in martial arts then his actual skill set.

  • @DrkRonin19 is it white oak? cause mine is, or was... i did a ground strike and it snapped

  • @Cheadog337 Nope, that much i know, its heavier then an white oak bo. I've actual done some contact stuff with it and the most that it "walked " away with was a little scuff mark.

  • @DrkRonin19 This is a competition Bo and I am positive that you couldn't do better then him ever.

P.S. If you do an martial art i am sure you suck at it...

  • @cookie0studios If you were intelligent enough to reply to this post, you should be able to read the conversation I had with Cheadog as to why I said what I said. And yes I do study martial arts, and while I don't brag about any of my achievements because I don't study martial arts for the competition, I have plenty of medals to back it up. :)

  • @DrkRonin19 I use a bo staff, the tinner (barely any lighter) ones that this guy used are only really used for showing off to little children. The real ones are where the ass kicking power is friendo.

  • @DrkRonin19 True a real bo made out of oak wood can fracture someones skull in half. An instant kill. No to say that this is not art... of course it is art.... but not Martial art.

  • This is not bojustsu or karate, just flash in the pan gymnastics. its a joke that has nothing to do with martial arts.

  • If you look at a lot of the bigger competitions, people enter in traditional and XMA weapons. Jackson Rudolph for example. He's amazing with the bo regardless of what he's doing. Also, the majority of the time, they do practice with a heavier bo, so they can get that speed. XMA isn't a real martial arts, but it should not be looked down upon. The majority of people who do XMA, still continue to practice traditionally. XMA is for entertainment purposes, and obviously would not be used combatively

  • @Shawshank1Gaming certainly its entertaining to people who have no idea what true bojutsu is. to me this not only disgraces budo, but also the many who have dedicated a lifetime to perfect a pure art form. then these flash in the pan fools come along and ruin the art. check out the punch at the end. this bonehead doesn't even know how to make a proper fist.

  • @gojuryukarateka It's not a disgrace. Traditional okinawan teachers were not only recognised as fighters, they were recognised as athletes. Sports Personalities. Add on to that the fact that most of them thought very highly of circus performers and dancers for their grace and agility and you get the odd student who goes in that direction. Body type determines the way you fight, if speed is something you excell at then agility is probably what you'd be told to work on.

  • @psychedashell ... Your comments are absurd. Do you really believe that traditional teachers were recognized "Sports Personalities" and "thought very highly of circus performers and dancers for their grace and agility"? Have you ever been to Okinawa? Trust me, this demonstration would be ridiculed in Okinawa.

  • @Shawshank1Gaming The idea of a form of martial arts for entertainment is absurd and stupid. You do not practice martial arts for the sake of others you do it for your own sake so why would you need to use it to entertain others with. Martial artists are not actors they do not need to entertain.

  • I would like him to do that with my grand taiaha. It's a bit heavier than a thin aluminum stick.

  • mhhz? why is it called karate?

i thought karate is an fighting art with 100% no weapons.

It got devoloped in around 1416 in Okinawa where disturbances lead the king Sho Shin to ban weapons out of the public. This was so rise of Karate to kill an opponent as fast as possible without an weapon.

So i´ll repeat the question why is this Bo staff video called karate?

  • Its the first video in YouTube what left my mouth open! I mean the first jump ...

  • mejor que deje de tomar tanta cocaina

  • can anyone tell me the name of the song at the beginning pls??

  • @PenisMr REMEMBER THIS NAME

  • That is not a bo kata, that is gymnastics ... !

  • fucking amazing

  • Damn, you should be in the 7th Star Wars movie that comes out in 2013!

  • lol

  • How sad martial arts have become, where people think this is good. I will now place my head in my hands and weep!

  • @TKDKukkiwon We will be waiting your vid upload that shows your skills. Until then I will not shed one tear. I will only give praise to those who train in whatever art they have chosen. Whether its jazz dance, gung Foo, tightrope walking or extreme marshal arts. But the true sadness is in ones ability to bring down others by mere spite and over critical coments. Martial arts really should be about love and respect...And that seems to be the missing piece in your quest for amrtial arts purity.

  • wow not even my sensei is this good.... i think?

  • this only happens in america.... whatever happened to the martial in martial arts??? this is show.... what is the point of all those jumps and twirling around... that bo hes using is hollow and light... well w.e ...

  • Extreme abuse of the Spirit Stick, Cheerleaders around the world isn't happy about it.

  • no martial arts batoon twirrling

  • incredible

  • incredible

  • excuse me, what is the martial art called that specialises in bo's? also where can I learn the butterfly, butterfly twist and the rising windmill?

  • @Shinjinkiru its called xma xtreame martial arts

  • I bet if you ever beat him in pool he'll just beat ur ass with the pool stick

  • ..........bang........

  • great vid man- keep up the good work

  • !!!!!IMAGINE!!!! Walkin up to him on a angry day thinkin ur about to whoop his ass just bekuxs he the closet person to take ur anger out on and the he pulls out a stick in front of a bunch of hot chicks and he did all that before he even touched you and then at the end he says "BRING IT BITCH!!!"

  • If you try to touch him... you will get your arms broken.

  • Looks good for trophy's, but would get killed in the streets.

  • my cousin stabed himself trying to do this with a spear

  • @korndollmind if u were a martial artist (like myself) u would kno there is no such thing as to much agression

  • @korndollmind if u were a martial artist (like myself) u would kno there is no such thing as to much agression

  • wie ab er geht :D

  • Holy Shit ..... I am a black belt in isshinryu karate and that looks sorda like the stuff we do but 10x faster !!!

  • And for the ppl who think this isn't useful in a real fight, you're wrong.

This guy obviously trained long and hard to be able to pull this off.

It means he has repeated every single move of this spectacle over a hundred times.

It made him agile, his muscles and heart became stronger, his endurance

increased and obviously his balance and coördination are flawless.

Besides you can see this guy has an intense martial arts background.

In other words, this guy has the upper hand in real fights

  • Great skills without a doubt, just a bit too much agression for a martial artist.

  • Awesome job, and way to go!!!

    Keep it up!!!

  • yes he is a good gymnast

yes this is flashy showy martial arts

yes doing this in a real fight isnt going to help you

but traditional karate is something one has to experience to understand entirely. sure kickboxing or MMA may help you on the streets better because of actual experience fighting, but if you combine the two, that is where you get discipline, humillity, and amazing technique. the thing aout flashyness is that you have to have the right technique or its not going to work right.

  • To strike fear, or sow confusion, into the hearts of the enemy. It seems to have worked!
