  • I'd be prepared to live with those nightmare-ish electrics just to sit in that interior. That's quite the best interior in a car I've ever seen.

  • Actually I don't care much for the sophistication... I adore this car for its looks.

  • whats the song that plays when he says "this is the one" 0:49 plz respond been looking for this song forever

  • @gogglesntophat - It's Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground". The Red Hot Chili Peppers did a remake of it in the 90's!

  • @LeftyPlaysRighty thank you so much you are awsome

  • Built during Citroen's ownership of Maserati so inherited a lot of the clever hydraulics Citroen pioneeried then. For me, second only to the lovely BB at the time. My neighbour had a pristine yellow Merak SS with its flying buttresses. It was arguably even lovelier than the Bora but without the V8.

  • I can only imagine one things better than James May in an Maserati and thats me in a Maserati talking to James May. Some day he will be called "Sir" James May i am quite sure.

  • @mk2007al Agreed on that. Would love to have a chat with James May about old classic cars.

  • @maxmanapple - oh, of course, not just the Khamsin but the Ghibli too.

  • @maxmanapple - nah, muscle cars are front-engined. The European muscle car? The Maser Khamsin, the Merc SL, the BMW 507 (older, I know)... this is more like the European GT40.

Anyone else think the engine sounds exactly halfway between a modern Corvette and the Mercedes AMG 6.2 litre naturally-aspirated V8?

  • Georgous

  • @maxmanapple

I would say that Aston Martin V8 Vantage '77 is more like european muscle car.

  • MASERATI BORA fantastica auto italiana 70

  • Beautiful sound at 0:10

  • I saw one of these going down U.S. Highway 90 in Chipley, Florida; one day in late 1972, or early 1972. It was gray; but it was a beautiful car. I never would have believed I'd ever see one of these cars in such a place as Chipley, Florida.

  • What is song name 0:23

  • put side ducts like the enzo on this and you have best car of all time and cut some weight nice very nice

  • "sort of striking...", he says, what an understatement. "not a pin-up for school boy dreams" he says? I fell in love the first time I ever saw a photo of one....it is the perfectly size/proportion for a refined Italian design, one of the all around prettiest cars ever built. The Countach was just too much, almost outer spacey, to be considered a "real" car. But the Bora and Merek by Maserati, along with the Montreal by Alfa were just classy looks all the way, great art.

  • @gurlsingerfan - the Countach, the Montreal, both styled by Gandini. He also designed the Ghibli and the Khamsin... If only modern Italian styling was that good. The Montreal makes the modern 8C look clumsy and unoriginal, while today's Maseratis (Quattroporte apart) are great ungainly heifers.

Incidentally, anyone else think the Bora's nose was the inspiration for the front air intake of the new, very ugly Ferrari 458? The Bora's chrome does look like the 458's deformable plastic bits...

  • @EccentricRichard How the fuck is the Ferrari 458 Italia ugly? You have got to be joking...

  • @FluffMuffTater - it's not just ugly, it's BLOODY HIDEOUS. That awful, scowling nose, the unbalanced slab sides, the glazing too small and too far forwards, no visible air intakes, and the rear end is a mess. I've seen prettier cancerous tumours. Nope, sorry, the last pretty mid-engined Ferrari was the 355.

  • @FluffMuffTater

The 458 is not a good looking Ferrari, no longer are Ferrari's designed with passion and soul, they are just designed with science, that's all the 458 is, science on wheels. Yes that is what makes it an amazing car to drive but for styling it just isn't beautiful.

Ferrari lost their way in styling years ago, the only really pretty Ferrari's I can truly say, are the 250's (California, GTO, GT etc.).

  • all of this was filmed near where i live :)

  • that 4.7 v8 is epicley epic

  • Comment removed

  • i prefere the countach ova all

  • @conutach Looks better than a countach though, no?

  • @DidItForebode i rekkon there on a par with each ohta

  • Bellissimo.

  • I'm not a Maserati fan, but this Bora is a really nice looking car.

  • so james doesnt like da maserati bora ? or is he ??

  • WHAT IS THE SONG AT 0:25 !!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol. For James, the Bora has been his supercar of Seventies for a year or two back in 2005 here. In 2003, I believe, he drove the Lamborghini Countach for the first time and got really disappointed with it. I don't blame him. The Countach was known for its difficult use, as seen in this clip. Although I am a Lambo fan, i'd go for a Bora in this time instead. Or an Aston Martin Vantage :P

  • @DBerkwood Me too. I love the Miura but I'm not a fan of the Countach. Too big, too cumbersome and too heavy for my liking.

  • name song 1:28 pls ?

  • @kvikvo It's "Little Green Bag" by the George Baker Selection. Featured famously in Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs".

  • what are the songs at 0:24, 4:01 & 4:51?

  • @Brockie777 The 1st one is "Are You My Woman" by the Chi-Lites (famously sampled in Beyonce's "Crazy In Love"). I don't know the others you asked.

  • @Brockie777 the song from 4:01 is Kasabian - Ovary Stripe.

  • Top Gear has such beautiful ways of explaning things, whitout you actually needing to know a lot about cars. a petolhead can watch this with his girlfriend, and she also gets there point. thats the magic of top gear all these years i geuss...
