Blackstar is one of my favorite cartoons. I've got all 13 episodes from Youtube & Veoh. It may not still be there. Eventually someone will post it again. Other favorite cartoons: He-man, Thundar, Hercules [The one that was on in the 60's, not to be confused with the Disney cartoon which I found boring].
I haven't seen this or black star since i was 10! You have no idea how happy i am to be watching this. it was only last summer that i found another person who know what the hell i was talking about.
This is my favorite cartoon way back in 1983. In the philippines it was shown every saturday morning 9:00 am... those were the days... i missed my childhood.. wer can i buy Blackstar video? please help
I LOve cartoons like Blackstar & He-Man, but i was raised watching Japanese anime like Mazinger Z & Gatchaman (they where from the 70's too & some from the 80's) but when the Anime won so much fans for their incredible stories and animation way ahead from the American counterparts cartoons were over. You can see even Disney needed to use Japanese animation on Gargoyles and now on nearly everywhere is the new animation style everywhere.
Wasn't that trend started at Filmation? IIRC, The New Adventures of Zorro was among the first North American series to be outsourced to TMS in the early 1980s.
Oh yeah mister? Where's the new animation style that you've brought up since this anime boom's dominating TV? Where's the stop-motion? where's the Claymation? where's the traditional US animation? All I see that's anime has contributed here are just overlysimplistic cartoons and CGI junk. FYI, Western animation were as much cutting edged as much as Japanimation were in the last century. I like Anime mind you, but it's NOT the sovereign of animation.

tedtrix says: Agreed. And the music was great too. I wonder: Did Filmation hire a band to record a soundtrack for the Blackstar? Too bad they change it too much-too fast ( 05:44, 06:02, 06:40, 08:07 )
Good, clean, fun! I remember watching this back in the day and it is cool seeing it again.
I would not be the least bit suprised if u-tube pulled it for copyright violation nonsense. As if these little videos comapare to DVD full screen format. F 'em.
Blackstar is ok but not realy my choice of a show looks more like a mix of dungeons and dragons and he-man not bad tho

"I think it has more to do with what he's just gotten out of..." Hysterical laughter ensues...wtf? That wasn't that funny.

"I know. But I have a feeling it'll take more than a volcano to stop (pause) the Overlord." Unnecessary beat there lol.

Holy crap, Sumaro is basically a simplified Raydeen from Shogun Warriors!

Thanks very much for all 5 parts! BlackStar is my favorite cartoon of all time, seconded by He-man!

Anyone else notice that the music at the close of the episode sounded very much like Star Wars?

Voices: Blackstar=Hordak/Bow, Mara=Teela/Evil Lyn/Sorceress, Trollbits=Skeletor/Man-At-Arms/Battlecat, Overlord=Megatron.
eriiiiiiiiiii 3 years ago
Overlord=Megatron?
Frank Welker didn't voice Overlord, it was the Alan Oppenheimer(Skeletor) who voiced the villain.

This can be bought pretty much anywheres on DVD. The box set is at most movie stores you just have to ask them to order it. :P

This serie looks like he-man, the sounds also are similar,

Filmation made both He-Man and Blackstar. They also made Bravestarr another great cartoon.

I love how they have to pause for emphasis before saying "the Overlord".

Right on, I recognize this now that I see it! I love how the overlord keeps looking directly at the camera to deliver his lines! Sweet cheese!

Oh the memories... Though the sounds and animation styles are quite awfully recycled, the plots are plausible to behold.
