LOL!! U.S is gonna have a lot trouble this upcoming qualifiers... 10 years has passed and Donovan is still their best player. Even when the US had a solid team they were inconsistent as hell at the international stage against teams outside of their own region.

@panarkas americans love football and we do dominate in football. See what i did there? if you're talking about soccer call it association football. Soccer is the most played youth sport in the US, people just stop playing as they enter high school. Soccer is gaining popularity and we will certainly dominate in it....just in a couple of decades

I can't understand what soccer means, it reminds me of sucker :D . Anyway my point was that there is a big difference between dominating a sport watched by a few people (women's) and one watched by ~5 billion people (men's). Though I admit the last years you had much progress in the men's sport as well.
@panarkas yes but it's shortened simply to football because its the most popular football code there. The meaning of football is a game played on foot--that is why there are various codes. Mob football wasn't played with the feet, now was it? Soccer was created by Oxford U students and comes from asSOCiation with the familiar oxford -er added along with a c to make it soccer. We're content with our own football code, so go play the world's game, we'll play our own beloved game

The south-american teams take this competition more serious because they always had a "small man complex" when they were confronted by european teams!
European teams see their competitions as the best and do not recognize or care about other confederations competitions - So especially the south-american teams always wanted to show those "high nose europeans" that they are better!

US talents can only improve if they are going to Europe - But european teams are only allowed to have three non-europeans in their squad, so they have to be very talented to get this chance!

The brazilian league is right now "pushed" with a lot of money - That`s why they can keep a lot of very talented players there!

It has always been more important to the south-americans than to the europeans because the europeans see their Champions League as the biggest trophy you can win in world team soccer - They do not care about for example the Copa Libertadores, etc..

@SuperJuliusC first of all the NBA is on the decline. its more about the NCAA championships in our country now. in the NBA its an entertainment not a competition anymore. the players dont play hard or play the fundamentals. plus theres ultimately no defense played in the NBA. yea we dont give a damn because we always win. we should make it more so that college players play at the international level and it would be more fair to the world

@JoshRobertson142 and those teams you mentioned: they would lose to us everytime. that was one of their greatest games they will ever have. they dont play as consistently as well as us. see you actually have to watch the games. the games that actually count i mean. friendlies are bull. and look at the highlights of the games. plus in soccer one little mistake can lead to something huge. so in some of those games they lost, they shouldnt have lost. they played great but they made a mistake.

@troddsy He didn't say it was going to "be like this" The American fans put blame on him for putting bornstein in for cherundolo but we can't always put the blame on bradley. Bornstein did a horrible job but our backline wasn't always that great either. Bob Bradley and the rest of the team were devastated with the loss but what can they do about it now? I don't think you understand the USA-Mexico rivalry when it comes to the Gold Cup. BTW; Pasadena is NOT in L.A. it's in southern california.

@troddsy because we have so many stadiums to play at. Mexico couldn't host this year because they're already hosting the U-17 world cup. & the countries in the carribean could host too but it's just the matter of, time and space.

The U.S. team has so much potential for 2014. Didn't they just beat the South African team with a bunch of amateurs? I'm not suggesting it was a huge victory or anything, but still... amateurs? That's impressive. I'm an Azzurri fan, but come on, the U.S. is definitely on track.

For the monent, the only thing we have about football in Europe from USA are stupid club owners, like the Glazer in MU or Colony in Paris... Of course, when I say football, that mean soccer for Americans. Sorry, but all "minors" football are called by their origins in the non US world : Gaelic football, American football, Canadian Football, Australian football. Football (soccer) is global.

Most of us, who breath, eat and shit football, are just mere spectators, while people who actually practice other less popular sports, are at a competitive level. @aurelio821713 I think the problem with the Brazilian team is that they always underestimate the other teams and that's a big NO in sports. The best team and the best player can have a bad game so it's never wise to think you're going to win because the other team sucks. The U.S. might not be the best team but I love them because they don't play dirty. There's a difference by playing hard and playing dirty...de Jong in the World Cup was an embarrassment for both his team and nation.

The U.S. team has so much potential for 2014. Didn't they just beat the South African team with a bunch of amateurs? I'm not suggesting it was a huge victory or anything, but still... amateurs? That's impressive. I'm an Azzurri fan, but come on, the U.S. is definitely on track.

@JoshRobertson142 ok lets take out the portugal win. after the world cup in 06 we won the golden cup, we were runners up in the confederations cup to a brazil team and we played them close. in friendlies we played both netherlands and argentina extremely close and we beat spain. then in the last world cup we won our group and narrowly lost to ghana in a game we should have won, but of course Ricardo Clark didnt mark his man. should have beat england. yea i just dont see how im stupid

For the monent, the only thing we have about football in Europe from USA are stupid club owners, like the Glazer in MU or Colony in Paris... @aurelio821713 I think the problem with the Brazilian team is that they always underestimate the other teams and that's a big NO in sports. The best team and the best player can have a bad game so it's never wise to think you're going to win because the other team sucks. The U.S. might not be the best team but I love them because they don't play dirty. There's a difference by playing hard and playing dirty...de Jong in the World Cup was an embarrassment for both his team and nation.
