you wrong in one thing its not based on the musicians preference , u always search for the sound and as much i heard acoustic guitars even they look the same or size every one gives u its own sound , maybe in your case the guitar you have is similar in sound comparing to the dx1r model , what is the model of your fender guitar?
I'm trying to get my hands on a Martin. My Yamaha's neck is warping on the 1st and 2nd fret. And its been like this for about 4 months now, and I don't really like Yamaha they're too beginner-ish and generic.
dreadnought but I won't criticize haha I feel like a dick now I just bought this guitar today well I put 300 dollars down bringing the 240 dollars tomorrow very very nice guitar especially for the price is sounds like it would run for much higher.
I'm looking about buying a new Acoustic. I don't want to through out more than $700. Any suggestions? I'm looking for a good sounding outdoor style sound.
Actually I got a Blueridge BR-160 in the end. I have to be really honest and say I'd have prefered a martin but for the money I think I got a better deal. It was £530 and it's all solid wood. An all solid work martin would be like double the price. Nicer probably but yeh.. The Blueridges are the closest thing apparently, but one thing I notice about my Blueridge is it doesn't sound as nice all the way up the neck as a Martin does. Open chords sound awesome though.
I think you have a great sounding guitar! My DXM had a green tint to the blond top when I first got it many years ago, but it has faded away. The inside is still green and has a tone very similar to yours. Great picking friend.
I watched your video before I bought my DX-1. This was 6 months ago. I heard alot of other (much more expensive guitars) since and I am still absolutely thrilled about my guitar. The tone is so full and it is loud but loud in a beautiful sense.
I tried many strings such as DR, Martin SP, D'addario, Elixr PB nanoweb. I tried to not like the coated Elixir but I always returned to these. Even if I play alot, after a month and more they still sound awesome.
Had one of these now for about 4 years, and have been in love with it from the day I bought it. Using Martin Medium strings on it and, it has easily the best tone of any acoustic I have ever played. Don't be put off by any potential prejudices you may feel about materials etc, it is really is (to coin a phrase) the dogs b*llocks.
now sir, what strings do you use on a dreadnaught? Nylon or Steel? I'm gonna play rock acoustic covers (like- boys like girls, we the kings, green day) more modern day pop punk[band] music cover on acoustic, what strings are going to give me the best "rock" tone for that? expessialy a bright tone aswell,Phosphor Bronze, or nylon, or what?
I have steel strings on this. Nothing fancy. Medium gauge - they're nice and bright. Stay away from nylon strings unless you want a classical guitar sound.
hey nice playing, iam looking to buy a new acoustic guitar and so far i have been looking at these and several seagull guitars. i played a dx1 and it seemed to sound nice. i also do not kno how i feel about the high pressure laminate. how does it hold up? i have recently been looking into d-15s but i havnt had a chance to play 1. do you think it would be worth the extra money for all solid woods or is th HPL holding up fine?
i already own a yamaha guitar and love it, dont judge it for being a yamaha its an amazing guitar (coming from a guitarist who owns a gibson SG and a fender stratocaster) and i was considering upgrading to a martin. is this a good choice, because im worried that the composite material might be ugly or wont feel good, and does it make the guitar sound less good? somebody please reply
i own a Martin DXME with a composite top. I was sceptical at first and somewhat dissapinted at first, BUT, give it some time. they more u play it the better it gets. I play with my uncles who have Some Gibson J45's and Martin D28 and my guitar was every bit as good sounding as the D28 and better than the Gibson. If u buy one change those strings and put some Martin meduims on it. u wont be dissapinted but give it time to break in
hey littlpyrox i understand what u mean about the yamaha although i dnt own one my friend has 1 thats 16years old and it sound excellent i just want to tell you that i have played the martain dx1 and the thing is just brillant and very well price its a lovely gutare to play!!
I just bought one of these guitars because I finally have the money and time to devote to learning to play like I always wanted. How would you say this guitar would feel to a beginner? :)
Congrats - I played guitar for over 40 years before I got a Martin. Any guitar that's easy to play and sounds great makes you want to use it. The more you use it the faster you get good. Nice choice.
I do want to ask your opinion on a dilemma i'm struggling with...
I can't decide whether to buy this Martin Dx1 which in my humble opinion sounds amazing or the Taylor 110ce that to my taste doesn't sound as good (the sound is too bright) but have an amp connection to it which is very useful.
where I live these 2 guitars cost the same price, 800$ more or less..
Hey Tal - It depends on how you'll be using it. For live performance, the Taylor would be more convenient - just plug it in and go. But if it's for a studio or home situation, a pick-up is useless. (You record the acoustic with mics anyway.) I would buy the guitar that sounds better acoustically because that's the tone you have no control over. If that sounds right, the rest is easy. I judge an acoustic guitar by how it sounds UNplugged. You can always add a pick-up. Hope that helps.
As you said the Taylor is much more suitble for performing and I don't perform with acoustics so the Martin would be a better choice for my needs (recording and just playing) and nothing can beat the guitar that caught your ear.
Just picked up the Koa version of this guitar tonight! Wouldn't happen to know if that one is green too, or is it all martins? I'm excited for tomorrow when everyone's not sleeping, to say the least. Maybe I'll go out on the porch right now....
I have the 12 string version and I really like it. The tuners are a bit sketchy, but not horrible. I think the best part is that the thing is durable. Its not fair to compare it with a D-28 or something, but it is a great travel/camping/beach type guitar. It is nice to not worry about humidity as well. They also coat the thing so it smells pretty darn nice. The intonation is nice. Comfortable neck and ok sound. I tune down on my 12 string and it struggles below D, but most guitars would.
Good question. I haven't tried that, but I seldom play acoustic anyway, And I never use different tunings. My opinion isn't what matters. Check one out at a music store and see what YOU think. I love the tone - and it's surprisingly loud. For the price, I'm EXTREMELY happy with mine.
Sounds pretty darn good! I've got a 10 year old takamine. It sounds almost that good, imagine what that Martin will sound like in 10 years!!!

Hello friend,
Thanks for your comment.
I actually have the same guitar and it truly is the color green on the inside of the box.
As years have passed, the green color is fading or aging to a beautiful tan color.
I'm not meaning to argue with you.

i bought the same guitar at the guitarcenter, and i just loved the sound...it was awesome to play this guitar.
and than 1 month later, i barely played or used the guitar (it was laying in the case the whole time) i realized that the bottom cracked...
right on the top, where the neck goes up, the bottom slipped apart...
and than i tried to get martin&co to fix it for me, and they wouldn´t do it...
and now i have a awesome broken guitar...
