The Official Second Season of Lucille Ball's second series The Lucy Show, is coming to DVD on July 13, 2010! If you haven't seen the Lucy show it is so funny! And the second season co-stars Vivian Vance(Ethel)! Also it's in Color!
This is one of my favorite episodes just because of them performing together, and I love this song. I have known all the words to this song since the time I learned to talk.
Isn't this amazing? Both of them are wonderful...I'm so impressed by Lucy here. The world was incredibly blessed by her life and love for performing. It always will be.
When Van was dropped from the Warner Bros. studio roster after a brief period in 1942, it was Lucy who urged him to stay in Hollywood and sign with another studio. She got in touch with someone she knew at MGM- and he was one of their leading stars for almost 15 years. He later repaid her kindness by guest-starring in "The Dancing Star" episode [5/2/55], of which this scene was the highlight...
The '50s were a time when it was possible to dream, a dream world.Unfortunately new generation wanted vice, violence, no respect, etc.Today world proves nobody is happy anymore.Specially since the '80s to nowadays the world turned terrible
I was saddened to learn of Van Johnson's death. He has long been a favorite of mine. Thanks for posting this as a tribute and memorium to a great actor. May he rest in peace.
Rest in peace Van & thank you for entertaining me all these years & for not having scandal attached to your name like so many in Hollywood do.
Here's a quote from him as to why he was working dinner theater in the 80's:
"The white-haired ladies who come to matinees are the people who put me on top, he said in a 1992 interview in Michigan, where he was appearing at a suburban Detroit theater. Im still grateful to them.
Van Johnson was one of the great ones! This scene with Lucille Ball is still one of my favorite scenes of all time. They were so elegant. They had such magnetic chemistry together. Rest in Peace Van.
One of my favorite episodes, and two of my three favorite actors!!!
