  • This was -- without a doubt, undeniably -- the absolute WORST staging of The Barber of Seville I've ever seen! There is for all intents and purposes NO STAGE set. None. This production uses on stage props and a series of moving doors. There is for all intents and purposes NO SETS! This production is done in much the same manner as the play OUR TOWN. Which for a MET production was a real downer.

  • @Robeykr Oddly, this is my favorite production of the Barber of Seville. Not just because the costumes are fabulous (well, Figaro's is, anyway) and the acting is light and hilarious, but because the actors actually physically resemble their characters. Everybody had a lot of lively energy. There's a lot more to enjoyment of opera than just the environment.

  • @didderjade My favourite production of Barber of Seville was a version staring Beverly Sills. Too bad it's never been put out on tape or DVD.

As for your favourite production, I would ask what was with the bit with the GIANT ANVIL falling on a fruit cart? Weird.

  • @didderjade My favourite version was staged in the '70s and stared Beverly Sillls. Sadly, never released on DVD.

  • This is my favorite version of "Barbiere"!!! Try to find full video - you'll understand about white screen.

  • Why are they in front of a white screen?
