  • Had one growing up and never burned anyone and not one of my friends tried to eat the things either.

  • haha!! ;) when i was a kid in the early 70's, there was a family in my old neighborhood and their last name was Crawley. there were 3 sons. i guess you can imagine how much they got teased and called names! but, then again, i did too!! my last name is Woodie. back then, i was called Woody Woodpecker. today, it has a slightly different connotation. lol!!!

  • Used to have this when I was growing up... also had one with plates for Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the Peanuts characters. Loved it.

  • I think the cat convinced most people to get this :P

In all seriousness, I had something much like this when I was a kid (in 2000s) and I loved it.

  • I miss the Creepy Crawlers i had from the 90s.. i made everyone in my family and friends scorpions and shit.. i became so heavily addicted to making my own toys i became a toy maker! now the creepy crawler goop may have a different name (its from smooth-on now) but its ALL THE SAME! LONG LIVE TOYS!! LONG LIVE FUN!!!

  • those metal case really hurts

  • Awesome toy. I had one of these, and loved it. I never had accidents with my toys, so I rarely hurt myself with the, but learned to be careful. I wish I still had one...I'd probably still play with it!!!! People are far too oblivious and stupid to have toys like this today. It's too bad because toys like this fueled my imagination and creativity......I'm a physicist now.

  • i remember these toys were still out in the 90s

  • If you think this toy was dangerous, you should know about Mattel's Vac-U-Form.

  • Trade them or sell them?!

    Hahahaha!!!!

I can't seem to find the commercial with the song that goes "They're squirmy and wormy and yellow and green, the creepiest little things that you've ever seen! Creeeepy crawlers!!" it may have been one of the last ones they made.

  • I had this. Ah, the smell of hot Plastigoop. And it wasn't complete without a mild burn off the hot plate. Still have everything except the Plastigoop.

  • Aww Thats Cool!

  • OMG I remember that commercial.:)

  • I knew enough not to put them in my mouth.....even at 5 yrs old!

  • This really brings back memories. My kid sister and I had a Super Thingmaker set that had molds for Creepy Crawlers, Fun Flowers and other little doodads. But as the Plastigoop aged, it would develop air bubbles as it was heated in the molds. We'd end up with half a worm or spiders with missing legs!

  • Great for terrifying little sisters. I had the soldiers set where you could make jeeps too but the wheels would never form right.

  • Ugh...I remember when my older cousin decided to "rub one out" into my creepy crawler thingmaker, and turned it on to heat it up. I will never forget the putrid smell of burning jizz...or trying to explain the nasty smell when my parents got home. Dipshit.

  • rememember the edible ones...who knows what we were eating!

  • @dpmcgrath1960 Yes, I remember the "Incredible Edibles"...my cousin had that set. The "tutti-fruitti" flavor was addicitve enough that my youngest cousin would eat it right out ot the tube!

  • I could never get my goo hot enough to pour.

  • Non-toxic? I would oil the mold and drip candle wax into it. I have quite a number of wax scorpions.

  • I used to love this toy...now I remember this commercial. Wow!

  • Aaa...memories...!

Can't have this great stuff any more...you would burn your hand and your parents would sue the pants off Mattel now!

  • The smell of the goo, while it was cooking was toxic, yet had an addictive pleasant odor..That I kind of miss in a weird way

  • Was that for real! OOOOOOOH!

  • My big sisters had that! Wow dont make em like they used to! LOL!

  • Yes it did! I remember it all to well.....and spilling it all over the driveway. whoops!

  • @acdeucee got some 'original' 1995 special goo cooking. i havent touched it since 2000!

  • @acdeucee so we are all infected by a subtle creeping toxic rubber death? lol! yea that smell was unforgettable... and you may be right about addictive....

  • lol i used to bite off the leggs after i made them and chewed them

  • Toxic rubber! Incredibly hot slabs of metal! AHHHHH... they don't make great toys like that any more.

  • @RichYan33

I burned the crap my fingers a few times

thats how I learned what the tongs were for

    LOL

and how to be careful too!

  • @charlesrs I know what you mean. I had a thing maker that made army men and burned my hand the first time I used it. My Moms reaction was"Well we told you to be careful". I was and had a blast with it.

  • @RichYan33 you bet

  • @RichYan33 you think thats bad? kids chemistry sets used to have radioactive ingredients, cyanide, and cancerous agents.

  • creeple-peeple was awesome!!!

and toxic my ass!....how many kids died from owning a Thingmaker?!

If people would stop worrying about the possible danger from EVERYTHING, toys wouldn't be so fucking wussified! >:(

let the little bastards get hurt once in a while and they would learn what the words "LIMITS" and "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" means!

(Yeah, spdskte, I burned myself a few times with my Creepy-Crawler set...I still had fun!)

  • My older brother stuck one to my forehead while it was still hot. The good old days!

  • Yep we couldnt wait for those suckers to cool down. Even if they were'nt fully cooked, we'd pop'em out with there mutations and play with them as they scorched our hands..good times

  • I loved this product...used it all the time...Also had creeple peeple.
