  • in ur mathafukin face S.A.S there was a specail force before u no afence sas fans

  • US MARINES WILL ALWAYS BE thw BESt

  • I knew two of them back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They were an entirely different breed and that's not just "talking trash", we are talking straight up killers who did their business up close and personal. Their units were disbanded because the Marine Corps was not sure what to do with them after the war.

  • My old manager at Bass Pro Shop was a former Marine Raider. He told me a lot of crazy stories! The one that stays with me the most is one he told me where him and a squad mostly all Privates and PFC all 18-21 got dropped off at a embassy and they told them "We know how were getting you in, but we don't know how we're getting you out. We'll try to be back in a week" He said not many survived, kinda scary...

  • at 0:08 is that a type 99 at the bottom?

  • the raiders shud be established again

  • whats the difference between the Marines And The Marine Raiders?

  • @USxXMarinesXxUs Marines are a branch in of the US Military. The Marine Raiders were basically the grandfathers of the modern day Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC) of the Marine Corps. So theyre still around, just under a different name. Fleet Marine Force. (if im mot mistaken)

  • Thanks for posting this! I'm fascinated by the Marine Raiders ( Carlson and Edson Raider Battalions ). They were the original amphibious warriors of WW2 before NCDU and UDT's. Fort Pierce, Florida still honours them at the UDT (SEAL) Museum...

  • First American special forces ever!

  • @Widow33maker actually I think thats the devil's brigade

  • WWII was a real war unlike the vietnam war and the iraq war these people were actually fighting for something real not just fucking people over and killing innocent families.

  • @XLIONCLAWX oh so the guy is innocent when he hes shooting RPGs at us..did you know we are not allowed to shoot taliban if we see them unless they shoot at us first.innocent familys the guy shoots rounds at us and then puts his wife and kids in front of him knowing damn well we wont shoot fuck his heart and fuck his mind.it isnt pointless they attacked us did you forget 9/11.i guess your one of those liberal freaks who smoke pot allday and think by saying shit with no proof will make a differan

  • My Uncle Bob fought with the raiders at Edson's ridge. Yesterday my friend in Australia sent me a piece of barbed wire from Edson's ridge he got on his last trip to the the Canal. I held the wire and my Uncles uniform and just cried for about half an hour.

  • with great lack of any foresight they disbanded all these special forces in US and UK after the war and then had to create them again later on

  • Thomas Holcomb. New Castle, DE! FTW Mother Fucker

  • What is with the Vulgar Comment?

  • ..........???? nothing vulgar. i run by his memorial plaque in battery park on the weekly, and live near Holcomb ave. biggest name to come out of delaware as far as im concerned

  • My Great Uncle was a Marine Raider. He was one of the few that didn't come home. He was killed in action and his body left behind. Back in 1999 he finally was brought home. I am very proud of him and all whom served our country during that war. (PFC Ashley Hicks) Semper Fi

  • My uncle just turned 88,he is a Marine Raider,

and still going strong on his ranch and looking forward to the next Marine Raider reunion .

  • thank him for me

  • raiders program is still around

  • you are correct. my son is a Marine raider

  • @fishinman1000 YEA....RIGHT WHAT ARE U 90??

  • I wonder why they didnt keep the raider progam like the army kept the rangers

  • My Great Grandfather was in the 3rd Marine Raider Battalion, Spent 8 months in the Okinawa Pacific and the Island of Peleiul, He was the 4th Captain.

  • Interesting... my dad was in the 3rd also.

  • Semper-Fi

  • dang call of duty waw nailed the marine raiders just like they really were

  • Don't order the DVD. You will never receive it. I hope this Millworkspost is being investigated. They never resonded to my emails, but they kept my money.

  • Thanks for the heads up! I had planned on ordering it but not now.

  • 4:44 what is this vehicles?

  • apc armed personnel carrier

  • My grandfather was with the 4th Marine Raider Battalion, and spent 8 months or so in the South Pacific (WWII).

  • They were more like the beggining element of marine force recon.

  • Has anyone else ordered this video and never got it?

  • I looked up that site to buy the video. I wouldn't trust something like that.

  • Ordered this video and never received it. How utterly shameful to steal money from people using this route!

  • stil looking for info on 1st div marine raiders, very important

  • yes they were/are great we still have a raider with us 1st div,so many storyies,

  • marine raiders were the very first marine recon marines.

  • my grandfather Hugh A. VOGEL,

Cpl 2G Okinawa, Ryukyu Is., 20 May 1945 fought with the 2nd Marine Raider Bttln. I've read many stories about the actions and missions the Raiders did, they still amaze me to this day. Not to downplay the role of our modern armed forces, but these guys were and still are the real deal.

  • THESE GUYS REALLY SAFRIFICED THERE LIVES TO PRESERVE FREEDOM TODAY

    god bless them all

  • I'm a proud Grandson of a member of Edson's 1st Marine Raider Battalion. Edson's Raiders in my opinion was the best of the best. The courage they shown on Bloody Ridge is legendary.

  • 1 2 3 4 I LOVE MARINE CORPS!

  • Put it this way,to be a marine you were already elite. Now take 15000 marine volunteers and whittle that down to 900.That's a raider.

  • is it still around?

  • They are called the Navy Seals.

  • O ok thnx

  • No, they are not. SEALS are Navy not Marines. The SEALS were created for a completely different reason.

  • Sorry... I didn't give a detailed enough answer. The are not the Navy SEALS directly. The Raiders only lasted about 2 years. However, they were an Elite force of men (the first of its kind in 1942) made up of the "best of the best" much like the SEALS are today. As for the comparison to the SEALS it's about as close as I could come to giving a quick answer....

  • No need for apologies. I am only correcting you for your own benefit. I assumed you would want the knowledge of there difference, since your Grandpa was a Raider. If you want a quick reference for the future, you can refer to MARSOC. Which stands for MARine Special Operations Command. Specifically MSOB 1 or 2 which are actual battalions that are taking on missions statements very similar to the Raiders of WWII.

  • 1st Marine Division is but now the focus is on MARSOC for operations that the Raiders were known for.

  • @mikess56 ya marine force recon

  • Thank you... This is great! My Grandfather, 90 was a Raider. He's just now telling me stories. Amazing man! Thank God for all he's done. Semper Fi

  • your granpa was a marine raider? awesome!

  • Yep.. 1st Marine Raider Battalion and Marine Air Corps. He and his 6 Brothers (my Great Uncles) were all in the war together.

These guys were (and in the case of my 91 year old grandfather ARE) tough, rugged MEN.

  • wow! your great uncles and great grandpa are marine raiders?? cool family!

  • Brilliant the Americans had the marine raiders and we the British had the famous desert rats.

  • indeed

  • rats?

  • 5emper Fi!

  • AARUGHA

  • what

  • google it.

  • Awesome Video! Thanks for posting this about the legendary Marine Raiders! Semper Fi!!

  • well honestly the marine raiders were brought into the spotlight by mostly call of duty world at war. honestly films like gung ho did so for only a short time. so for the most part its cool call of duty is bringing back a part of lost history. the marine raiders!

  • I have to agree, i'm a great 'fan' of World War 2 history but i'd never heard of the Marine Raiders untill I played World at War.

  • yup.. me too.. thanks to call of duty.

  • God bless all of these heroes.

  • Brave soldiers.

  • not soldiers

  • Call of Duty World at War that is.

  • dont bring that up no COD shit

  • And who the fuck are you to tell me what to do arsewipe ?

  • dude listen this is no game man i love COD but this is more important this is real ppl not computers man

  • I am playing Call of Duty for PC and one of the forces are the Marine Raiders ! They have a map in the beta called Makin from the assault on Makin Atoll that the Marine Raiders were involved in.

  • dont bring this up man we are talking about real stuff not games

  • I know seriously wtf don't bring up a video game this is real. Obviously a WORLD WAR 2 game will have real WORLD WAR 2 stuff dumb ass

  • i brought up a film as well you never seen gung ho, thats a combat classic bout the raiders, ever since they were disbanded not many people knew about them. its just that call of duty did a good job of resurecting that part of marine history. and world at war was not entirely accurate or real. i'm not going to take time to explain cuz it would be a waste of my time.

  • Yes this is real. I don't play video games but if it means that kids will learn about the raiders and other WWII heroes then I'm all for it.

  • can you still be amarine raider today

  • dude no they where pirates not bad ones just one like a privateer and that squad retard long ago my grandfather keeps crying that day when he fought :(

  • no..they created marine raiders to fight in the pacific behind enemy lines on world war 2..

  • Brave men.
