We drove for about 25 miles before getting to that tight left hand turn which requires the wheel to be turned to the point where it locks.

I couldn't tell what the rope was attached to... tow rope mighta been attached to somethin i sohuldn't have been... even then.. should have been over power whatever the strap was doing the steering.... probably steering lock.
They were being towed...............................emergency brakes would have done nothing......besides it's clear the driver panicked and must've braked.
its clear that the steering wheel locked because they didn't have the key in the ignition, and its clear that they were catching up to the car towing them, which means that there was slack in the line.
so i will say again that pulling on the e-brake would've worked.
all this still doesnt change the fact that they were getting towed without the use of the steering wheel. not smart.

Only 160 years old lady can't drive without power steering. Reason is that they didn't turn key so steering lock will go on when you turn enought or lock is somehow broken and it did go on. I have driven towed cars many times and it's easy to control without power streering when car is moving.
Imprezas have to be towed in flat-bed tow trucks or like it was in the video (not so fast of course and with the key in), because it's an AWD and it's in the manual. So maybe he called for a tow truck, it came, wasn't a flat-bed and he decided to be towed like that.

That's is why you need a two truck to two a car that is not capable of running. The car lost power steering, obviously the car is not running well to start with. Trying to save a few bucks by not calling a two truck, now they end up spending lots more to fix it. Luckily no one seems to be hurt but just pride.

The ignition wasn't in the ON position, if its not, the wheel will lock up after a certain amount of degrees.
