Scottchap: Outstanding video, been going every June to Normandy since 94... thanks for the montage ......very fitting to honor all who fought for liberty on that day now approaching 67 years on ! No place like Normandy for sure! Thanks for sharing this with all on Youtube ! CURRAHEE!!!!!!!!!!! TCUNC76
Been to the US cemetary more than a few times. Been to the British cemetary. Been to the German cemetary. Truly profound experiences, from looking at the sea of white crosses at Omaha, reading the inscriptions at Bayeaux, or the letters in the visitors centre at the German site. Whatever anyone thinks of war, one cannot help but be moved by the incredible self sacrifice that was made by individuals, on all sides.
Excellent Video and great Music as well very well done, My uncle Fought with the DLI (50th Northumbrian ) and is buried in Bayeaux Cemetary i was there early MAy 2009 and was well impressed but also visited Omaha Beach and have brought some wonderful memories back with me.
Excellent ! i,ve been going for a few years now ill be back out on the 2nd june 09 for the 65th ! can't wait my 13yo son has been going with me now for a few years and he is so looking forward to this year and thats what makes it or me that the young kids remember...
With the bigest respect of France to our Friends came from so far to fight for our liberty, and liberty of world wide...Thank YOU ALL ! La France aura toujours une reconnaissance éternelle...
Super video...even without the music which unquestionably stirs emotion. I've read all the posts on this... i find it incredible that there are some who can miss the point. for all of those of you who are seriously appreciate OUR freedom read Bomber Boys by Patrick Bishop. God Bless those who served and sadly lost through times that must have seemed impossible.
Wonderful Video, I wish there was an equivalent version from Gold beach where my uncle served with the 50th Northumbian Division (Durham Light Infantry).I am going back next year and hopefully cvan show my vids on here , I will hopefully spend some time at La-Cambe
6:30-8:00 is pretty much all Ranville (Pegasus Bridge) and Arromanches (Gold Beach) photos. The British vets were very awe inspiring as they marched into town in formation and performed the flag lowering. Two years ago I went back and visited the British cemetary in Bayeux...that is a very moving place to be, as most all the tombstones have personal messages on them.
Thanks for your message Scottchap , I am taking my mother back to Bayeaux next year to visit her brothers grave, he was killed in the battle of Lingevres with the 9th Battalion of the DLI (50th Northumbrian Division)hopefully i can post some pics on here
Although it seems you have an agenda attached to your question, I'll answer anyway. There is one German cemetery in Normandy that I know of - Le Cambre. It is actually quite sad, as many of the graves have 2-5 bodies per grave with most having no names associated to them. If you actually watch the video, you will see La Cambre from 10:07 to 10:16.
Excellant video, the music adds to the emotion..well pieced together, espcially the British Paratrooper saluting his fallen comrade....may they rest in peace,British,Canadian,American.
Operation Overlord was probably one of the best plans in history it could of been worse if the airborne or SAS didn't help the Beachs if u know what i mean
How forget when you see this moovie. thank's for these american soldiers coming to die in France for Freedom. God bless them and America. (sorry but my english isn't very good).
I'm a french guy and I just visited all D Day's sites and beaches last week in Normandy. I have been particulary touched and upseted by the american cimetery at Omaha and by "la Pointe Du Hoc", where the Rangers attacked. And even if we don't always agree with certain american actions today, be sure that we'll never forget all that young people that died for our freedom.
On the 2nd of June 2004 i took my 3 yr old son and a football down to Omaha beach. We played football for an hour and a half on the totally deserted sand. This is the freedom the guys who died on those very sands fought for.Thank you .
Great Video, I am SGT Randy York with the U.S. Army. I was a specialist then. My unit was tasked with providing support from Germany. I was with 6-52 ADA. We were ushers at the Utah Beach Ceremony. This video was a great reminder of the past. Thank You for posting it.
Just as a point of interest, in 'The Longest Day,' film, British actor, Richard Todd played Maj John Howard of the Ox & Bucks Light Inf who captured Pegasus Bridge. Ironicallt, Todd was involved with the operation himself. He was an officer in the Paras who reinforced the force at Pegasus Bridge and was involved in heavy fighting....
amn this video fuckin rocks i wanna trip to france to see carentan i own on that lvl usually name:.:Sgt.pepper:. but yea nice vid man mayb see u in a game or something
Great video, excellent music-moving scenes, especially the lone British Para at Ranville cemetory. Did a battlefield tour 6 yrs ago & visited all those sites, including Point Du Hoc & the Merville battery. Great to see The Old & The Bold on parade! We can NEVER repay the debt of gratitude we owe to that generation.
Great stuff. Looks like you and I were both at the Utah Beach ceremony, I got similar footage of the artillary gun salute but from a slightly different angle. What an event! Thanks for bringing back the memories.
man great video, i hope that wasn't george bush's voice speaking up there, oh well great video anyway, i was there in 2001 ...... ( your wife/girlfriend is hot)

Soviets Attacked Finland with a force almost 3 times larger than the allied assault on the "d day" the Finns kept their ground and independence.
250000 soviet losses and same amount as wounded.
American and British observers said "Finland Destroyed Russians military might and has proven to be an adversary not to be taken lightly"
American Jack Hisey was presented the Finlands highest honor, the liberty cross
(he was one of few American volunteers who helped Finland in its hour of need)

This whas in Normandy: St-Mere Eglise
wimmbo123 3 years ago
St-Mere Eglise is only the start of the video. President talks in the American Cementery over Omaha Beach, Vierville sur Mer, Normandy, France.
Other images are also from St. Mere-Église Square and I think also from Pointe du Hoc.
I was in all these places one year ago.
