I love this horse, Preakness 2005 was just amazing! Time for Hollywood to make a movie about who I think is the greatest horse ever. Thanks for posting this video.
He broke his back ankle...at least I believe so. I know he fractured something, but the injury kept getting worse to the point that they had to put Giacomo down ):
I have no issue with the stud chain, however, as previously stated hes a very "chill stallion" and that handler I feel has rough hands, this makes headshy horses.
also 4 all u weirdos that think stud chains r cruel, they r not.4 example if a stud did not have a chain on and a mare wuz nearby........u don't wanna know.
@nicoleloveschief well unless your horse had rabies or something? Besides, Afleet Alex is a major breeding stallion, and is worth a lot of money, so they would do something if he needed medical attention...
actually that's a really good thing. if horses are foaming, or building up spit in their mouth that means they are very accepting and comfortable with the bit that is in their mouth. When there is no bit and they lick and chew alot it means they are very relaxed, happy, and trusting of the people they are with. It's basic horse language. If there is no foam or spit that usually means they are grinding on the bit and biting down which means it's uncomfortable and they dislike it.
Stud chains are NOT cruel, anyone who thinks so needs to educate themselves. Chains are used to keep a horse under control. Even my gelding requires one.
You're only meant to gently pull on the chains if the horse begins to get very excitable or out of control. It puts pressure on to his nose or his tongue, so it's not something to be constantly pulled at unnecessarily. The guy is pulling at it for no apparent reason.
LOL Yeah every so often I go through a lot of Afleet Alex videos as he's my favorite race horse. That triple crown series I watch all the time. Afleet Alex, AWESOOOOOOOMMMMMMMME!!
