  • i have a recovery manager but it doesnt have the reinstall options..

so where can i find or download this recovery manager?.

    what should i do?please help....

  • @megaubi If your PC is from HP, you should have some kind of recovery options, but it depends on if you have PC that shipped with Vista or some other OS. This video is based on HP Desktop PCs that came with Vista installed.

  • ehm... my Windows Sound keeps lowring itself.. What should i do? O.o

  • @Xentozz I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Can you give more details? Do all sounds lower, or just certain ones? Can you replicate the issue (it consistently happens when you do something specific)? Does it happen in all software programs, such as Windows Media Player, Youtube, iTunes, etc.?

  • @howto4u do you know the little speaker thingy downt he right corner that controle the whole computers audio? its automaticly making itself lower, when i pull it up it just slide down again :( wth is wrong?!

  • @Xentozz This sounds like a strange issue...I've actually never heard of it before. My best guess is that one of the audio programs you have installed on your PC is controlling your volume and over-riding the Windows volume once you set it. If this just started happening, did it happen after you installed something or made an audio change of some kind?

  • @howto4u Oh, one thing you can try, though I'm not sure what OS you have, is to go into the audio properties (you can get there through control panel) and in the Advanced settings, there may be a check box about allowing other applications to control your volume. Remove the check from this box and see if it fixes the problem. Also, you could try disabling all sound effects, particularly if you have a Realtek audio.

  • @howto4u i Unchecked the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and.. it started happening when i installed Vista, cuz this comp used to be a XP... but after a while it stoped, and the sound worked fine for.. 2-3 weeks, then i changed Anti-virus program, and there it was again :(

  • @Xentozz Hmmm...well, since you had sound issues before you change the OS, and then after installing an antivirus program, it sounds like it could be a bit of a driver issue. Look in Device Manager to see what sound card you have (such as a Realtek High-Def Audio). Then either google the name of the card and "Vista driver" or you can go directly to the manufacturers site and find the driver for it.

  • @howto4u aaaand what am i suposed to do with that?

  • @Xentozz Once you find the driver for your sound card and OS, you install it, and then your sound should work again.

  • @howto4u does that work since i already have it installed? O.o

  • @Xentozz it should re-install

  • @howto4u its fixed now :P anyway... this couldn't help me bcuz it was the "lower volume" button on the laptop that had FKed, så i went enrage and shuwed a thing in so the "Higher volume" button got fked...

    result: Works fine now :D

  • @howto4u oh btw, when the computer was XP the sound didnt work at all O.o

  • @howto4u whaat? O.o

  • me 2 i dont know what i did but i hav sound from my speakers know but i have another problem when i plug in my EARPHONES on the speakers are stil on but when i use the earphones on my ipod it works so something is rong with my computer so cant U HELP! PLEASSE! thnxz

  • @lilpinkyGRL I guess I don't understand. Are you saying that the headphones don't work on the PC, but they do on the iPod? Are you plugging the headphones into a port on the PC or are you plugging them into the speakers?

  • i dont know what i did but i have sound from my speakers now !!!!!!! :)

  • Excellent! I'm glad to know you got it working.

  • the speakers are powered yes and i did see the first video. the monitor is not hdmi but it has a lime green cord just like speakers that goes from the monitor to the port in the back of the computer. and yes im positive its plugged in the correct port.

  • are the speakers you are using connected to the monitor?

Also, do you by chance have headphones plugged into the port on the front of the PC or any other audio ports? Headphones will take priority over other speakers. If you don't have headphones plugged in, but do have headphones, try plugging them into the audio port to see if you get sound through them.

  • the speakers are in the monitor and when i plug headphones into the front or back ports it still doesnt pick up that any thing is plugged in. but when i only have the cord from the monitor plugged in there is no sound either. this is very frustrating

  • Interesting...I know this sounds simple, but have you checked the volume icon in the systray (by your clock) to see if sound is muted or if the computer recognizes that you have a sound device?

If the sound device is recognized and isn't muted. I would try either updating the sound card driver or running an application/driver recovery to just reinstall the sound driver. If you know your sound card type, example Realtek HD, you can download and install a driver directly from that manufacturer.

  • i have tried and tried again reinstalling the drivers and updating them also, yet there has been no improvements with the sound. nothing is muted i have checked that about 100 times. it recognizes a high defintion sound device but says that my speakers arent plugged in. the high definition is working fine just no sound is projecting from it.

  • Hmmmm....have you tried manually setting your default speaker device in both Windows and Realtek?

Did you try installing the audio driver from the sound card manufacturer?

What PC model do you have?

  • yes, yes , and p6107c

  • i followed all the steps that you said to do and nothing worked for me. when i open my sound devices it says that my speakers are not plugged in when they clearly are and also are in the correct port. what can i do to fix this?

  • @calhoun112233 Hi, did you by chance view Part 1 of this video (linked to under related videos)? I'm wondering if your speakers are either not in the right plug, or are possibly not "powered" speakers? Also, do you have an HDMI monitor or some other device attached that uses sound?

  • i cant hear you

  • @jordos10169 You should be able to read along with tthe Closed Captions at the bottom of the screen.

  • why when i put my laptop on hibernate i cant hear anything but when i restart my computer i can hear stuff im running windows vista buisiness 32 bit with a coxexant high definition audio card

  • I've heard of different issues with sound after the PC comes out of hibernation. You may try updating the sound card driver, but most of the solutions I've found all just say to restart the PC to fix it.

  • Thanks you very much i have resolved this problem eventually with your help...P.S. THANKS 4 REPLYING!!!

  • That's great news. I'm glad you got it working, and that you came back to let me know. The feedback is much appreciated. Thanks. :)

  • My realtek high definition sound dosen't work. It says in the tray icon place ( bottom right corner) no audio output devices installed. i have my mic and speakers plugged in . what do i do help?..it used to work last night

  • If sound just stopped working and you haven't changed any of your hardware connections, I would try reinstalling your audio driver. Either reinstall the original driver using Recovery Manger (in Help & Support), or download the latest update from HP . com for your PC model, or go to the realtek website and download the full version driver there.

You might also try going into the Sound Properties (through Control Panel) and ensuring Speakers are set as the output device.

  • when i install the driver it tells me error cannot find the media drevice to install

  • when i find the hardrive it says driver installation failed could not find the media device for this driver what i do now lol

  • Go to Device Manager.

See if there is a question mark next to "Other devices" or next to your Audio device listing, should say something like "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus".

Right-click the device and select "Update Driver".

Select the option to install from a specific location and then navigate to where you extracted the audio driver files. Select the file and apply the driver.

  • i have a hp pavilion dv9727 cl notebook and there is an x on my sound icon saying there is no audio installed when i go to device manager there is no sound folder but the wierd thing is that the sound works for on day and turns off when it wants to

  • I wish Youtube allowed me to post links here. There are a few HP documents with steps that I would link you to, also I'd link you to drivers for your PC.

If you go to hp . com, then "support drivers", select Software and put in your model number. You'll go to your products software page, from there you can find the appropriate sound driver. Try installing the latest. If that doesn't work, try searching hp on "no sound" or "no audio device".

  • i cant find my real tech high definition audio what i do?
