i see you are jaming as you start a row that is because you are pulling the yarn back before starting a row you don't need to pull the yarn back before you knit the row that is what the tention spring is for you only need to pull the yarn back if you are using a Bond.
Actually got inspired to dig out my brother mknitter I also "inherited". I remember my neighbor's mother doing some really neat stuff with it. I use to spin as well... Maybe I can combine the two. Thanks a lot for posting.
