  • nice.... now that is what you call a sleeper.

  • What modifications if any did you have to do to the engine and Transmission mounts? I have a 1987 Cavalier RS Convertable with a 2.8 and I just bought a Pontiac GP with a Supercharged 3800 that I will be taking out and pitting in the Cavalier.

  • @George7397 i had to fab. all te mounts and i had to modify the pass. side unibody frame rail for the extra width of the 3800, also cut out and made a custom core support.

  • that engine swap is nice but comeon !!!! at least wash it !!!!!! LOL!!!!

  • @MrLimonJuice search my car on cardomain. i have it finnished now.

  • Did this type of cavi' come optional with this engine?

  • @4rdt0ugh08 no it did not. it never came with anything near this. the z24 came with a 2.8 litre v6 engine.

  • @nicks87z24 i have the same car did you have to change the computer since you changed it to 5 speed?

  • @aerodevelopment 5spd swap needs a 5spd computer. but with my 3800 i use a 3800 l67 comuter and flashed it to delete all the trans codes from it so it would run without a auto trans.

  • i want that

  • Great job!

  • why do people always do a 5speed transmission swap why not keep automatic

  • Whats the 0-60 times n the 1/4 mile times. and whats the horse power being pushed out

  • nice !!!!!

  • now for some cragars or 80's ss monte carlo wheels. they would look badass on this car. =]

  • I'd like to try this but with a series 3 and an early 90's Grand Am.

  • now thats a z24. i wanna do this so bad

  • I wann do this to my 87 cavalier wat all do i need and how hard was it

  • thats a classic never seen a cavalier super

  • I bet that car straight up flies!!

  • supp man can u tell me how i can do an l67 swap on my 97 regal ls it came with a 4t60e trans unlike the 98 up which means the computer would be different on a l67 engine so what all would i have to do forthe swap

  • supp man can u tell me how i can do an l67 swap on my 97 regal ls it came with a 4t60e trans unlike the 98 up which means the computer would be different on a l67 engine so what all would i have to do forthe swap

  • when you ganna have some fun in it?? :P

  • did you balance the flyweel with the crank and damper ?

  • @damoclez24 i balanced the flywheel to the same spec as the stock flex plate.

  • @damoclez24 what axles are used,,,thanks

  • @08si138 im using new axles for the getrag trans. 1990 cavalier z24 axles.

  • Hey, I'm wondering about the engine/trans combo :) what flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing and that kind of stuff did you use, as well as the bell housing? I ask because I have no clue

Also, if you wouldn't mind helping me out again, do you know the dimensions of the transmission? I can't find anything of the sort for the 282. If it's too big I can't do what I was planning on doing.

    Thanks!

  • @pumaunderfire flywheel is from a 3.8 camaro with a 5spd trans, machined the flywheel almost 1/4 inch and balanced it for the motor. all the clutch and trans stuff is for a v6 cavalier.

what do you plan on doing that you may use a hm282 for.

  • @nicks87z24 What is the trans from?

  • very cool.

  • I'm looking into doing this with my Sunbird gt. 1. How much money/effort. 2. What trans. 3. Is it worth it?

  • @terseous it takes alot of time and patience more than money. getrag 282 trans. and its not worth it if you want the car usable.

  • @nicks87z24 What do you mean by "if you want the car usable"?

  • @midgetmayo there is enough low end torque that with the car as small as it is it just spins the tires. its alot of power to have in such a little car.

  • Awesome!

  • Dudue you are a fucking god!! That is badass!!!

  • that is awesome!!!!

  • an l67 in a cavalier..NICE!!! bet you shock the hell out of ppl when you hit it..

  • iz it fast?

  • if it got traction then it might be. lol.

  • nice. i wanna do the same to my beretta =]

  • haha man that is sick, my rents used to have an 85 sunbird i pretty much grew up in it

  • There is a similar car to 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier here in Brazil. It is called Chevrolet Monza that was made from 1991 to 1996. Chevrolet Monza made before 1991 is not so similar to 1987 Chevrolet cavalier.

  • was this on the Minneapolis craigslist? i swear to god i saw this swap int he same color same style cavy.

  • yes i had the car up for sale but i decided to keep it and finnish it. im down to only a few things left such as clutch lsd suspension wheels and tires.

  • yea dude i was looking at buying it. haha, i did a series 1 supercharged into a 97 cavy. it was shitty and i didnt trust it, and sure as hell didnt want to start from scratch. but i didnt have the cash :(

  • How much and where is it?

    ...2.8FI hey?!!!

  • 10K when its done this spring.

  • @nicks87z24

    LOL!!!!

  • you my friend, are a mad genius!! hats off, excellent work!!

  • Thats one clean install. Have you done anything else? You seem very patient... & neat, lol. Hit up my page when you can?....

  • okay as for the trans and clutch. sorry i was not able to respond to the mesages i have been gone with the army. anyways the trans is a 5spd muncie trans from a 1990 cavalier with a 3.1 v6 same trans they use in the fiero's with the 2.8. and the flywheel is from a 2000 camaro with a 3.8 that i machined a quarter inch off of for propper clearance for the front wheel drive set up.

  • @nicks87z24 so is it any faster than the 2.8L V6 LOL. this thing must fly.

  • man that looks so clean under the hood

  • my first car was a Z24 2.8 ..not to power full but with great attitude..I repaired the transmission two times and after that I donate the car

  • #1 I am impressed you fit the l67 in that cavalier

#2 How the hell did you get a 5 speed manual to work?! I want to know really bad!!

  • 3800 machined flywheel.

  • get a camaro flywheel machined and a 5-speed from a 2.2 sfi

  • megasquirt 2 is how you get the manual trans to work in a sc 3800 i opted for the easier swap of the 3400 into a cavalier

  • i just reprogramed my GTP computer to delete all the transmition programing.

  • right on i just went for the megasquirt 2 i was just letting him know how i did it on mine and what other people on j body use

  • hey guys..

im not sure of the name, but gm performance produces an aftermarket tranny to fit l36's and l67's

you just have to walk into a reputable dealer and buy it

  • I had an 87 non-Z24 that had the 2.0 in it. I miss that car even though it was a POS.

It was asked earlier with no response, but I also really want to know: What 5 speed trans did you use?

  • Sweet car man. been thinking of doing this swap in my 86 hatchback Z

  • well im glad 2 finally see a damn 87 cavy vid on youtube lol, now i know wat 2 put in mine, thanks for the vid that changed all doubt in my dads minds lol

  • what 5 speed tranny fits on the l67?

  • that's one mean machine u got man!!!

  • Yeah ive been looking into stripping a regal 3.8 supercharged for my 87 Z

  • woooooooooooooooow

  • Can't wait for you to get back so we can unleash the deamon >=}

  • yea I can see it now someone pulls up next to you and sees the 2.0 emblem ha ha suprise

  • what 2.0 emblem would they see. the car came factory with a 2.8, thats part of the Z24 option.

  • my bad hit the wrong key 2.8 either way nice job looks like it came stock that way

  • its all good. and yea it looks like it came stock now but the car is getting there i will have it in paint shortly.

  • a friend of mine I just called him he has the 2.0 but its not a z24 thats where I got the 2.0 from I guess

  • freakin awesome wonder how hard it is to put in a series II s/c into a 94 buick lesabre I heard there's some 94 bonnys with the series 1 s/c is that true?

  • yes there is bonnys with the series 1 s/c they are the ssei model. as for putting a series 2 into a obd1 car it would take lots of wirring to addapt the obd2 harness to your cluster and ingnition and interior and all that stuff.

  • That is awesome I wanna do the same to my 94 cav
