  • What head castings do you usually use?

  • the valley? (hot 104.7)

  • WOW I need that for my street car LOVE the Sound! SBC

  • So what kind of power did it end up making, roughly what size cam?

    thanks

  • @1355550

This engine made around 340-345 horsepower. Mid 230 duration cam

  • looks nice. Im getting around to building a 496 stroker from a 454 core. I'm thinking forged internals to handle extra heat and power. but, what do you know of porting? what are the true power gains?

  • @AlchemistHawk

Ported heads are always a gain if done correctly.

  • that head casting number is a medium performance thick deck head that has 1.94 and 1.5 valves the are better known as marine heads found very common on mercruiser inboards that made 265 horse in marine apps.

  • my dad droped his crazy high compression original 12.5:1 compression down to 10.5:1 in his 440 big block 66 chrysler new yorker.. Which is making a ruff 350-400hp and 400-450 torque at the crank

  • This is a class specific engine, so they start at $4000.00 and go up from there.

  • @cncmotorsports im 16 years old building a 357, im putting it into my bracket car but im more of a circle track kinda kid, im jw what i could ude to produce 400 hp on a budget witn my stock heads and 9.6 to one compression??

  • @CraneCamsRacing

What do you consider a budget ? What are you using for pistons ? intake ? what stock head casting number ?

  • @cncmotorsports hyperutectic flat tops, the cast numbers are 3998988, the intake i have is a edelbrock performer but it came with the block when i bought it, i can get something else. And my budget is very limited. maybe at most a thousand bucks on what i already have.

  • @CraneCamsRacing

Check your casting number again. That number does not show up.

About all you can do is put in a camshaft. The heads, pistons, and intake are holding this engine back from making any power. $1000.00 is a very limited budget. I would add a camshaft, maybe mill the heads down for more compression, add a set of roller rockers, try to get an air gap intake and let her buck.

  • how much does it coist to build one of those?

  • gotta love that sound.

  • what numbers did it pull?

  • Numbers vary, 360-385 HP

  • whats the cam specs

  • Sorry, we can't give out this info.

  • This is a spec circle track engine, 2bbl carb is what they have to use.

  • Sounds like its got some cam to it. Why the 2bbl carb?
