I play lead guitar, and love playing Rush tunes. But when I added the Taurus 3 pedals.....I became an idiot. I'm totally locked up on changing effects and still hitting the pedals on cue. Keep trying....keep trying. I was born with two left feet.
Dude, I almost bought a 4080 at a guitar show in Dallas nearly 20 years ago. It was standing right next to a near-mint 79 Gibson 6/12 Doubleneck. You talk about decision time... And they were both the same price. Ugh.
Needless to say, I came home with the Gibson (as seen on my Xanadu vid). A year later I found a sweet maple '78 4001 (as seen in my Xanadu vid). I never would have gotten that if I had the 4080. Had to make my own Taurus pedals though (as seen in my Xanadu vid).
Great job! Someone shared this on my Facebook because they knew I would dig it! I grew up in Coconut Creek- an hour north of Miami so I was a Dolphins fan when I grew up too. I've been a Rush fan since about 1980.
Nice job dude. you really nailed it in my opinion. I have to ask though, was learning the actual song notes and parts easier then learning how to set up and run all that equipment to really make the song sound proper. All us Rush fans know what a job they do orchestrating all the instrumentation it takes to sound good and that is commendable alone even if you flub a note here or there.
JK, but I figured I'd say something to break up the well-deserved endless stream of compliments. I enjoyed this... and damn the 4080 is one funky looking instrument.
@miamigroove - - yeah but I've heard what they're saying behind your back : ) Seriously ... they need to feature you. At least (AT LEAST) a 15 minute solo section of each show. Where you can stretch out and flex your various muscles.
This is the most insane video I have ever seen. I don't think I have ever posted a comment on YouTube, but this demands it. There is NO ONE that can top this as a Rush fan or cover musician.
i'm guessing your not married.. LOL.. That was quiet good, enjoyed watching it. Check out my home page sometime, I have over 30 rush covers.. Good day..
Man, epic song from a epic band that relesead an epic live album. Congratulations! This is one of my favourite songs and I'm really glad for watching you playing \o/. Keep on ProgRocking!
Wow, terrific job! And what an instrument! I've thought about getting a double neck but I'll never understand all these other companies that make double neck bass/guitar combinations with only a single output jack. How idiotic is that?
@hitopsful It is an E Major, then a F# major with (E, andB) strings open, than a A and B major, with (E andB) strings open... the rest is based off an E major scale :D
Sweet gear! Awesome Ric! There's only one thing I found wrong with the video. You must lose the Dolphins Jersey and replace it with a NY Giants jersey! Other than that, great video!
I was always under the impression that Rickenbacker custom made that double neck for Geddy. Didn't know they actually produced them for the public. This is just wonderful. One of my new favorite Youtube videos

Not to mention both the live and studio versions of this song are recorded about 20 cents sharp/flat, or in another tuning altogether....

Dude, You're me from years ago!
Miamian, but w/ an Ibanez 4/6. Taurus 2, and Oberheim synths!!
Still have 'em!
Great performance - only one minor issue:
The 4/6 was used on Passage to Bangkok,
a 4/12 was used on Xanadu - you can hear it at the guitar run Geddy plays at the end.
So ... you need to get another toy.
