I say lets get it on.n 4s, and thanks to some custom machine work from CC Racing Engines and some sponsorship from fastoyz racing we are now very close to 120 mph with more to come on 4s. BTW the scakle speed is not proportional to the sclae but to the square root of the scale factor. Ie if you have a 1/2 scale model then scale factor is 2; scale speed is 1/sqrt2 = .71 ie 100mph is full scale speed is 71mph is scale for 1/2 size model

The formulas for scaling are available on the web. Some realtionships are linear some calculations are far more complex.

BTW 105mph up from 1/8 is 297mph in full size.

It has not broken the sound barier, fool. You don't just multiply by 8 because it is a 1/8 scale...other factors must be added. My jato at 70mph will be sclaed to about 150 or something being a 1/10 scale...

Not so. If your Jato was a 1/2 scale moving at 70 mph that would be a scale speed of 140 mph. Yuor jato even if you install a .21 ci or 1/8 scale engine the scale speed must be measured by the size of the car. 100 miles devided by 10 = 10 miles or 1/10th the speed. the same applies to the length of the car. If a car measuring 20 feet long moves at 100 mph and an rc car measuring 24" or 2 ' long moves at 10 mph they are both runing at the same scale speed. It's simple math.

If you want to get technical the speed of sound is 768 mph at 68 degrees f. That being said your Jato would have to hit 76.8 mph+ do break the scale sound barrier. At higher speeds the wind resistance increases. Here is an example I take from my bicycle racing days. A cyclist travelling at 25 mph uses about 30% of his energy fighting the wind. Breaking the sound barier requires even more energy than simply fighting the wind. These factors however are not taken into acount to measure scale speed.

Negative! The result is not that you are faster. As per Garmin, the result is that the GPS thinks you are covering alot more distance in a given time then what you really are hence you are slower than the GPS reads.

My point is simple. You guys started using a device designed to follow a baseball at 100mph and the car looks to be going what the radar says. Now you are using a device to track a jogger going 8-10mph.......

You ask where is the radar gun? Why would we use a less accurate means of measuring speed? You are right it may have been going 80mph where we were standing, but top speed is attained at the end of the run not at the 1/2 way mark. If you listen closely, you can hear the car getting into its accelleration phase as it passes us. I wonder what YOU are going to say when we tack another 10mph to that speed. Jealousy I guess.

I have to disagree! I spoke to Garmin directly today and they specifically stated that the Forerunner 101 you are using is NOT recommended for this use! They stated that you would at least have to use a GPS with a "high sensitivity" option that yours does not to at least try to keep up with immediate acceleration of these vehicles!! Also, the fact the GPS is under a painted body increases the margin for false readings even higher!! I have to agree, I would like to see a radar pass to compare

Since then I have gone 118 on same voltage.....Thinking about building a 1:5 scale to take the record, or a 100mph,that is if you dont get it first :)

But the car can easy handle 6Cell.. So I think 100mph is not impossible :)

As I mention before, the only problem at this speed is my rubber tires.

I need to find foam tires to my 5th scale car !
