  • Had this on vic 20

  • Game *cartridge*?! I'm a Limey, tapes were the way to go back in the day with their half-hour loading times! I know it's probably a bit of a wild request, but I'd love reviews of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC range and the BBC Micro, though whether you'd get any working in the States is probably too much to ask...

  • I still have this cart! And Jumpman Jr., Q*bert, Buck Rogers, Tooth Invaders, and Radar Rat Race!

I also have my c-64's cassette drive - boxed!

  • Commodore 64, the GREATEST computer ever! I said EVER!!!

  • COMMODORE 64 FTW!!! (that is free's the whales)

  • Hi Mark, if you have a floppy disc drive and be able to get the game wizball from ocean software than do it! because its one of the best looking and sounding games on this computer. Its a sidescrolling shooter where you steer a wizard and his cat both in ballshape to shoot enemys and collect colourdrops to repaint your world. It sounds strange but it is a hell of a game. :-)

  • or you could just get an emulator

  • @EpicTwistedOne Emulator? LAMER! :-))

  • MARK NEEDS TO REVIEW THE C64

  • at least your C64 works... I got my uncle's old C64 that I used to play as a kid, and it doesn't work anymore. It turns on, but I just get a black screen. I looked online and apparently it's a fairly common issue and a certain chip has to be replaced... I'll just get another one :(

  • Making your own sound effects is always way fun!!

  • Never question Video-Game Logic!!

  • I have this game on my iPod, it's really fun! Get the commador 64 app at the app store.

  • People should donate more commodore 64 stuff to CGR and then the commodore can overtake EDIT STATION 1!!!!! MWA HA HA HA HA!!!

  • I love this game. I just got a score of 47,000.

  • We need Atari home computer reviews too!

  • please put up more c64 reviews mark!

  • I have this cartridge for Vic-20, it plays nice and is very smooth

  • @OBSysteme : there are also many, many other great game-cartridges from the 'old' days available for the C=64 that deserve to be mentioned, like: Ms. Pac-Man, Frogger, Defender, Tapper, Q*Bert, Gyruss, Kickman, Lode Runner, Choplifter, Oil's Well, Wizard of Wor, Pitstop, Gateway to Apshai, Stix, Miner 2049'er, Centipede, Moon Patrol, Omega Race, Diamond Mine, Gridrunner, AMC, Juice and Solar Fox! (And don't forget the excellent games that Ocean and others put on cartridge in the 90's..)

  • Haha, explain they landed on the moon and then Houston calls them: Sorry, No Bonus.

    And then the ship explodes.

  • I had a c64 and the first thing that burned out was the sound chip.

  • I want this game! i havent played it in a long time

  • Awesome reference to 2010 Space Odissay II. OMG its full of stars!!

  • I want you to review Mancopter on the Commodore 64 so bad

  • holy mario and luigi

    ITS THE C64!!!!

    more commodore reviews mark plz

  • Check 9v power line in your power supply socket, if lost... just buy other power supply in better condition (square version from C64C/G). Probably your SID chip is quiet because lost source of 9V/12V. If after change still no sound, that means power conversion circuits inside your computer are dead. Good luck!

  • This was awesome! I'd love to see you review some more Commodore 64 games... Maybe even an Amiga game every now and then if you'd feel like it!

    Again... Great review!

  • This host is absolutely brilliant.

  • game makers have fail jupiter gravity is some ting like 300 times earths so that lander have to crash really fast to ground

I weight some thing like 24 000 Kg

  • The Commodore Vic-20 is great because William Shatter said so.

  • The whole map looks like the back of a pony.

  • I know exactly where a lunar lander arcade is, it's in orlando, in the disneyquest area where they have HUGE amounts of arcades. Old and new, games like joust, spyhunter and yes lunar lander! I enjoyed going there (exculding the crowds) and lunar lander was all by itself, right next to donkey kong. :)

  • Review Buggy Boy for the C64. My fav.

  • theres a game just like this that you can unlock in timesplitters 2, anybody know what im talking about?

  • @mattkarl1992 I know precisely what you mean, and it's got a great soundtrack.

  • I was sooo bad at Jupiter Lander, but it was fun. Do more Commodore 64 reviews!

  • just wondering. WHO THE HELL would want to land on jupiter unless their suicidal? you'd just keep falling and falling and falling until you just imploded in on yourself.

  • Awesome, loved this game back in 91. IF you do more C64 stuff, PLEASE review "In Search of the Most Amazing Thing" and/or "Agent USA to the Rescue". :D

  • I have heard CGRs theme in a porn recently...I was like 0_o

  • We want more CBM 64 reviews!!

  • whats the name of the music at 1:19?

  • i wish i could donate my virtual boy too this guy

  • i'll take it =] lol

  • Why don't you?

  • im only 13 and my mom wouldnt take kindly of me giving away something to a random guy

  • He's not some random guy, he's Mark Buster! ;)

You could show your parents the Classic Game Room HD videos and see if that'll sway your parents. If not, do it anyway. ;)

  • idk hopefully theyll let me but idk how he will video virtualboy games! he would have to stick the camera right up to the lens and i dont think that will work really well. he would have to do some crazy mod kinda like what he did to his genesis

  • The AVGN put he camera up into the lens and it looked okay.

Also, the Genesis S-Video mod isn't that crazy, it's one of the more common mods I see on forums. Unless you mean crazy as in cool, then yes, it is crazy.

  • when is this coming out?

  • lol you could download it from somewhere

  • I WAS FROZEN TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hm. NC and Classic Game Room... What's the connection?

  • What's NC?

  • Nostalgia Critic. Funny guy who reviews movies. Check out his Suburban Commando review!

  • awesome!!!!! c-64 review !!

    FUN!!

  • 1:10 - 1:16, love the way you say that.

  • AD, lol

  • oh GREAT . was that the 1st C64 Game? please review more of them. greetings from germany!

  • of course not, but one of the first...

  • You should try Interplay's WASTELAND ... It is the best Commodore 64 game..

  • Is there only that one level?

  • Its called Classic Early 80's Arcade Style!

It obviously doesn't have an official term, but that's the one I give it.

I mean, nobody says "Galaxian only has one level?!"

  • Would love to see more c64 reviews, only of the ones u think are good. I got thousands of games for c64 and don't know which to play!

  • no its killer klowns from outer space

  • You mean the best video game console/computer thingie.

Well, the Magnavox Odyssey 2 which I have is pretty awesome too.

  • Any reasons to back up that argument?

  • Yes, I owned one and they had them in my computer science class in high school. I don't remember it doing anything.

  • Blasphemy! It was AWESOME.

Even if I don't have evidence to back that up...

    Nostalgia FTW.

  • lmao love the music :D

  • ' i'll make my own sounds ' mark you are a legend, i love your reviews, they always make me lol.

  • u gotta do a review for "space taxi"

  • its a pity theres no sound:(

  • nice ring

  • is that the only screen you have to play on? or are there other levels?

  • you can find this game on a internet flash game websight, there is no need to buy it.

  • yes mark! 2001: A space odyssey, reference.

  • 2010 btw, thats when the monoliths spawn all over jupiter and compress jupiter into a star

  • best 1980s movie ever in my opinion.havent read the books yet though.

  • So glad to see some C64 from CGRHD, hope you get that sound working and a better video cable!

  • Same here the C64 was my first computer

  • turrican 1 and 2 are legendery c64 games !

  • finally some C64 game review! My father kept C64 for ages in a locker to show me the amazing gaming platform in 1990. This was great experience for me. In early 90s there were companies that were still making C64 joysticks and he bought an expensive one that after 20 years still works! The old hardware deserves a lot of respect!

  • Cool, not very many C64 reviews on Youtube.

Will you ever review Amiga games as well?

  • I landed on Jupiter in Orbiter. Take that!

  • A C64 without sound is like a Vectrex without vectors.

  • Lol thats funny

    Lets make our own sound.

  • There's a Lunar Lander arcade lookalike at the Huntsville Space Museum-- or at least it was there when I was a kid.

If you ever get to go there, DO, you won't be disappointed. Fun stuff! I went there in 19...81? Maybe 85. A long time ago that I can't remember when exactly. I was WOW'd.

  • Old-school!

  • awesome review

  • aww, the sounds were the best part of the C64...

  • I had this game and I liked it. Yes, the original was vector graphics.

  • LOVE IT!

  • music then ftw!!!

  • I wonder if you'll just implode on jupiter..or will your blood boil first.

  • Sweet ...The commadore ruled!

  • hal laboratory didnt they make smash bros and kirby

  • Yes. HAL also did several VIC-20 and C64 games.

  • Playing a C64 without sound?! Get that Commodore 64 fixed!

More C64 reviews (with proper sound) please.

  • not sure where you are, but there's a lunar lander arcade machine in chicago at the museum of science and industry in the space exhibit... and the best part... it's free to play! so if you are in chicago check it out

  • u r really lucky you found a free comadore 64. And i have a question for any1 who wants to answer: is $35 for an Atari Pinball console type thing (built in games) from 1977 good?

  • Yes that is an awesome deal.

  • i hawe mon lander on my old IBM and its fun to play :)

  • Where can one buy a Vectrex or Sega Genesis for a low price?

  • try amazon, i got my genesis for 20 bucks

  • You can get a Vectrex on Ebay for like $100 and I got a Genisis for like $30 on Amazon

  • ive played the lunar lander arcade machine at a museum it did have vector graphics.

  • Wow, a Commodore 64. Classic Game Room has just gotten a little bit more epic.

  • Classic Game Room never ceases to amaze me.

  • The graphics got 100x better by the end of it's life.

  • NICE

  • Commodore 64?!!

The Game Room never seizes to amaze me with its awesomeness.

  • They had a lunar lander in chicago at some science and industry museum. Im not sure why

  • I think they have a lunar lander arcade machine at the exploratorium in SF

  • Awesome sound effects!

  • It`s great that you started review C64 games,Mark :} Since you love robots,i recommend you to play Turrican 1 and 2,one of the greatest games for C64

  • could you tell me what you used in the background music during the landing? xD

  • I remember back when I was young there was a game called Lego Adventure 2 or something, one part made you do this, but with a jetpack.

  • I used to make my own sound effects as well when I was a little kid and games didnt have that much sound :)

  • That's nothing, I make my own sound effects in real life when I jump over things or have a close call with something nearby.

    Sadly i'm not joking.

  • somebody shootme

  • Classic Game Room: Best game reviews ever.

  • Finally some Commodore :)

Hope you can fix the sound so you can review more games for the amazing C64.

  • Damn rht live is not the same without a PS3

  • that sucks man, i just got mine back from sony today after it got the ylod a week ago.

  • It's only got one level?

I didn't have any cartridge games on my C64, just floppy disc games. Actually, I didn't know there were cartridge games.

The pressure on Jupiter would crush that capsule like a fat lady sitting on a soda can... no, three fat ladies sitting on top of each other, with the soda can at the bottom. And then the ammonia icy wind wind would shear everything off.

  • The answer is NO

  • About 2 months ago I sold a batch of C64 carts with River Raid, Flimbo's Quest etc. :(

  • This game looks awsome

  • NICE. C64 is a serious piece

    of gaming hardware.

  • nice music

  • "SORRY, NO BONUS"

...at least this game is polite!

  • Great to see that youv'e picked up a C64!!

  • Nice review, gj

  • wow your sound effects that you made were actually good and funny

  • "Sorry no bonus"

    the game excuses itself XP

  • Ha, awesome!

Doing gameplay videos of C64 games myself, it's quite cool to see that Mark is finally doing reviews of C64 games!!! =D

  • yay finally ;)

  • Why is there a squirrel with scary eyes at the beginning? Is that the Classic Game Room emblem?

  • hamster

  • kinda, but i think it is more like his symbol. when there used to be another person with him he had the squirrel as his emblem. but that was back in the 1990s or so

  • Five Stars!

I hope to see more C64 games soon!

  • commodore 64 was the 1980's, right?

  • yup.

  • Ok, so i never read his text review, he has a disk drive, but do you have the datasette.

  • At last mark moves on to the greatest 8bit computer "FACT" the C64. Looking forward to some excellent reviews for this little big machine.

Mark says he found this on cartridge, so i have 2 questions mark that need to be answered, becos bazfanv2 needs to know.

    1. do you have a datasette

    2. do you have the disc drive.

  • Mouth made sound effects FTW! Looking forward to seeing more C64 games. Awesome video.

  • there is a game like this hidden in timespitters 2

  • The Commodore has the best version of Spelunker that there is. Better than the arcade actually.

  • yay the Commodore !

  • mark,review the commodore 64!

  • Your sounds are probably better than the games

  • Sorry no bonus. Now you must DIE!

  • Nice reference to the Jupiter monoliths.

    That was... 2064. I think.

Just don't be hanging around trying to land when the monolith starts to... ah I won't spoil it.

  • Comment removed

  • MORE OLD STUFF!

  • Damn i´m going to sell my C64 tomorrow. Loading these games took for ages :/

  • Actually you'd be surprised how many old arcade machines are left, I know a few people who have lunar lander machines.

  • Memories... This game is one of my first videogames of all time. I still remember the musics... and I still remember that I'm not good at this game.

  • Finally a C64 review! :D

    Please make more of those!
