Wow. This seems like ancient history although it was only two years ago!
USA has Obama, Israel has Netanyahu, and Syria will soon kick Assad.
Syria is a dictatorship. It is a totalitarian country that cannot be trusted. Who guarantees that if Syria signs a peace agreement with Israel, it will not invade Israel once the regime will collaps there?
I believe there is a consensus among Israelis NOT to hand the Golan to Syria. It's part of Israel for 45 years. It will remain part of Israel.

Damascus wants those Golan Heights back so it can begin to potshot again.
We would then see coordinated attacks against Tel Aviv by:
Syria
Hezbollah'
PFLP
Islamic Jihad
Hamas
and possibly Iran; returning the Golan will never happen.
