It's a shame people like Jim Croce don't exist anymore. I bet if Eminem or Lil Wayne had to work a real job a couple years, they'd be a bit more humble. Croce understood the plight of the working man; rappers today don't understand jack shit.
@bodeandangles That's Maury Muehleisen, Jim's road "band" and the man who picked nearly all of the tasty acoustic lead licks on the ABC records. Unfortunately perished in the same crash as Jim.
I lived the area for about 10 yrs where Jim, Maury and the rest of the guys were killed in the plane crash. There use to be a marker in the area; in fact, a team of "ghost hunters" even went out there on the anniversary of their death...so goes the story, EVPs of music and voices of "help & distress" were picked up...that area is very quiet & the airport traffic is next to nothing. This place is in the middle of East Nowhere...it freaked me out when I saw the video of the campout.
my father created Roller Derby, I promoted it from 1958 to 1973. Joan Weston, our Queen, didn't like the song because she thought it was referencing her. It knocks me out and I play it all the time. Today Roller Derby is bigger than ever, with 650 amateur women's leagues worldwide, with some 30,000 competitors. Go to derby roster dot com and see them all.
Every song has a message if you listen close enough.. God love you Jim may you be at peace can't wait to meet ya when I get to where you are of course the good Lord willing it won't be awhile yet but you'll be in the top ten that I look for
God, I remember singing at the top of my voice with the windows down in my Chevy Impala on summer days, feeling like a real babe with my feathered hair.
Go ahead on. Did you have the let's Boogie poster in you room? The one with the pimp spinning the watch? Yep blacks lights a lava lamps, Zig Zags. One of my aspirations in life is to build a long black 65 Impala, Roll down all the windows, cruise at night down back country roads, Rockin my Zeppelin Since I've been loving you. Dam we were great back in the day, great cars, Rock, Parties!!!

People always talk about underrated guitarists, But no one ever mentions Maury!
He is the one who played the solos & look at his hands, Look @ what he is really
playing, The dude was a BAD ASS! R.I.P. Bro. your talent wasn't overlooked. Oh!
He was also a great vocalist.
