Lol mick your the fool it takes 3 months alone for garda clearence and another month for a hearing test then you have to wait till theres enough people to get uniforms which all in all adds up to nearly a year before you get a uniform ive been there and done that

You can join both at the age of 17.

School isn't essential.

But yeah, to answer your question. You can join the RDF while in school, and when you finish, if you're still interested you can join the PDF
