  • Two words. Bad ass. This guy is belting Chris Cornell and doing it justice. Bravo.

  • i think your voice could be perfect on buckley's songs!!!

  • really good job all the way through till the last high notes. you know which ones they were! come on! lmao. but still u got a lotta power bro!

  • chris keller's head voice notes are really weak in comparison to his chest and mix notes

  • @hefra345 False.

  • Great cover man! But Chirs Cornell is unbeatable. The ending is just fuck me man.

  • Good Job. Hard as hell to sing.

  • LMAO @ "I doubt Cornell can still do this". Please watch, study and compare Cornells performance on here of Say Hello to Heaven from the NYC Town Hall 4-12-11. Watch and listen good and then realize that the "difference" here isn't just vocal styles, it's a complete lack of ability in this case. I can't believe people are this blind to what REAL singing is. wow.

  • @rb, it's obviously YOU who doesn't know what they're talking about. Yes, there will be "differences" when covering a song, but if you're vocal style is cliche and whiny and you obviously can't hit these high notes properly, then you're covering the wrong type of song with this.

  • This cover is nothing short of terrible. Has peoples judgement in music really gone to this? REALLY? This guy sounded terrible trying to do those high notes, he has overdone and cliche vocal runs and a the typical whiny voice wh. I literally thought this was a joke in some parts, and I'm honestly still not sure that it's not. I'm having a hard time accepting that this is acceptable as "good

  • i know you should do jeff buckley you can sing !\!

  • This looks like an SNL skit with Andy in a wig!

  • Your voice remember me to Jeff Buckley. But, I really like your video it is amazing.

I hope you keep uploading videos about Chirs Cornell's songs.

  • even better than the real one, well done !

  • @joemolls72 No

  • Te felicito muy buena interpretación, además tienes muy buena voz!!

  • Amazing

  • DUDE!!!!

  • Major respect man, totally not an easy song to sing!!

  • I'm primarily a classical singer so i take a different approach when it comes to certain things, but he looks like he's struggling throughout this song. I think that he should have brought the key down to make it sound more natural. Just because you have range dont mean u need to sing at the top of at all times. BTW let me say i love Chris Keller and think he's a great vocalist so i'm not hating, this song just didnt do it for me tho. But i'm not a huge rock fan so maybe that plays a part too.

  • Record deal for this Awesome man

  • 5:11

  • I was completely ready to pick on this video while watching the first 10 seconds.......Then I heard him sing. Well done, killed it.

    You disagree, piss off.

  • what an asshole tried to sing a chris cornell song

  • Without putting too fine a point on it -- that was f**king amazing. Well done!

  • why is everyone bitching about 5:11. I think he did this song great justice. I think he's allowed a couple of those to compensate for the rest of his performance :p

  • what the fuck, this was nothing less than amazing.

  • Really...

    Head voice Sucks

    5:11

    WTF?

  • @MegaStarfucker Do you realize how high that note was? It was G5, REALLY impressive in general to be gliding up there.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I know the note is super fucking high and I know this is a great singer but the technique he uses sucks because a lot of notes sound weird and he can´t control it, no matter how good singer he is.

I really like this dude, he seems a really good person and a really talented musician but it would be great if he used another technique

  • @MegaStarfucker I think that his technique is really good, he just kinda failed with that high note because it started to get so wavery. Still, the guy's highs are generally fantastic, he is REALLY good singer.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos What I mean is that even if he were a perfect singer, some notes would still sound weird.

That´s the problem with head voice and Brett Manning´s technique.

What chris cornell uses is not head voice. the same with sebastian bach or david coverdale.

Even if chris keller is a kick-ass singer and composer (Iknow he is) the problem is head voice

  • @MegaStarfucker That doesn't matter, every singer has their flaws.

  • @MegaStarfucker chris cornell does use head voice he just doesnt use such a light head voice and he uses a lot more mask to make his notes stronger

  • @hefra345 Chris cornell doesn´t use head voice, he doesn´t put the sound in the soft palate.

He mixes the voice in a different way

  • @MegaStarfucker u need some use of head voice to hit those notes the way chris cornell does he just doesnt use head voice to the extent that chris keller does

  • @hefra345

    For You to Know

Head voice is not the only technique to hit high notes.

Chris cornell doesn´t use head voice to hit those notes, neither do coverdale, sebastian bach, or glenn hughes.

  • @MegaStarfucker if u know another technique to hit high notes that wont damage your voice i would love to know it so i can learn it too cause i already know head voice

  • @hefra345 Yeah, I know another technique but is not something you can learn with internet, you need a very good teacher.

In my opinion it sounds much better than head voice. With head voice, you will always have problems with the "harmonics", that is why the note at 5:11 sounds like that, chris keller didn´t do anything wrong

  • @MegaStarfucker thats not true because there are singers that use head voice who dont have problems qith harmonics when singing live

  • @hefra345 Like who?

  • @MegaStarfucker jeff buckley, brandon boyd, adam lambert, myles kennedy for example

  • @hefra345 It is head voice if the sound is mixed in the soft palate, Myles kennedy does not use head voice. The same with Robert Plant, david coverdale, Axel Rose, Sebastian Bach, glenn Hughes, Chris Cornell, Steven Tayler, Ronnie Dio, Brian Johnson, Bruce Dickinson, Paul Mccartney, Bon Scott, maynard james keenan, Long Etc.

  • @MegaStarfucker myles kennedy does use head voice because he uses bel canto and pretty much everybody u named lost their voice and robert plant and chris cornell both used head voice because in order to hit powerful G5s that arent screamy u need head voice without head voice the note would be gritty like that of axl rose or sbeastian bach, or they would hit the G5 in falsetto like steven tyler brian johnson or ronnie james dio

  • @hefra345 I don´t use head voice and i can hit a clean G5. Actually i can go all the way to the Soprano C and is not falsetto or head voice.

It doesn´t seem to me that dickinson, hughes, keenan or even coverdale have lost their voices. In the case of Axel rose or sebastian bach they have always been alcoholics/Drogadicts and that has a great impact in the voice.

And i´m sure that neither cornell or plant used head voice but manning wants you to think his technique is the only thing out there

  • @MegaStarfucker if u can go all the way to soprano C then it has to be head voice or falsetto if its not screamy or airy im going to assume that your using head voice there are no other vocal registers that permit u too sing up toclean G5s without straining your voice. And maynard hasnt lost his voice but he uses almost all head voice in his mixed register as apposed to the 90s where his F4-C5 or higher range was pretty much all chest and i didnt learn head voice from brett manning at all

  • @hefra345 I´m trying to make you understand that head voice is not the only technique to reach high notes.

If i want to sing a song from Mika or Bee gees, i use head voice but if i want to sing a soundgarden´s song or Skid Row´s, i use mid voice.

But you´ll never find a course for this online because is not something that can be learned from a cd or a dvd, you need a real teacher and there are very few who uses this

  • @hefra345 Axl Rose is one of the most notable examples of someone who uses head voice, and I doubt there are many singers who can achieve Axl's timbre in full voice. Chris Cornell can hit higher notes in mixed voice while he uses a fair bit of twang but he has a slightly higher register. Neither drop the chest enough to be singing in falsetto when they hit their high notes, and neither have lost their voice IMO.

  • @reubidoo and the same thing goes for Sebastian Bach about the not dropping the chest enough, but I wouldn't disagree with someone who said he's kinda lost his voice over the years.

  • @reubidoo Bach is a tenor though, Cornell is a higher baritone and Rose is a low baritone. Bach has that natural ease up there, though his technique was very good too.

Cornell still gets up there, but he has lost LOTS of power. Anyway, he still sounds very good most of the time.

  • @reubidoo oh and Cornell HAD screwed up his voice towards the end of Audioslave, but I've heard him live after he had like some vocal repair sessions or something and he sounds as good as he did or has almost as much range and power in the higher notes as he did in Temple of the Dog.

  • @reubidoo both chris and axl have lost their voices their high notes are not as powerful as they once were. Cornell kind of got his voice back but not really axl lost any grit in his voice he just uses pure head voice just like myles kennedy who now sngs really weak high notes in comparison to his previous one's

  • Really...

    Head voice Sucks

  • what a full high mix at the end holy motherfucker

  • I say BRAVO to this young guy. Sensational vibrato, perfectly well tuned, and he sang in his own syle. This song is extremely difficult. I am not sure if Chris can sing it nowadays.

  • @laurapac

Agree this was a good cover, very Jeff Buckley like. Chris these days has his voice back in order and can nail this, if Sound garden comes around to your area, I'd recommend seeing them, they're in good order.

  • @laurapac In 2011 he can, i don't why before that he can't, cigarrette i suppouse

  • @laurapac watch?v=6fIiC4f8zHY&feature=related Yeah. He can

  • I say BRAVO to this young guy. Sensational vibrato, perfectly well tuned, and he sang in his own syle. This song is extremely difficult.

  • brett manning is the best vocal coach in the universe

  • @micaeldada I'm not sure Brett was this guy's only teacher...

  • i'm gonna vomit now

  • go to american idol you are great and you have to be famous

  • this is fkn amazing

  • at 5:12 he fucked up bad

  • @androcci agreed, but the only ones who make mistakes are the ones that do something

  • @quikboarder93 i know he is an awesome singer. and he is not just doing smoething but doing awesome real high quality music. i never said he was a fucked up singer indeed he is one of the best people who makes the greatest covers in youtube.

  • @androcci Well put. I never said you called him a bad singer though haha

  • @quikboarder93 bad i mean for that 2 secs he fucked up is nothing, is live acoustic so he can amke mistakes.

  • Great.

  • 5:11 in his head "Hurry! mess up once so people continue to think i'm human"

  • Wow, love your version, guys. Congratulations from Chile. Great voice!!!

  • soul is dripping from your bones man i like it a lot

  • 5:11 eesh...but the rest good none the less

  • very good

  • FUCK! 5:12 the only mistake i have found, but he's still fucking great singer!

  • ...very,very good!!Great performance dudes!!

    Luciano Macedo Brazil.

  • Hey Chris! You are an absolutely amazing singer. I'm just about to book a session with you via skype, but I'm wondering if you're comfortable with R&B style and coaching in that aspect? Would LOVE to hear you sing a R&B cover.

  • absolutely amazing!

  • brilliant

  • Incredible cover, vocalist's voice sounds a lot like J. Buckley!

  • the head voice notes at the end didnt have enough power but good cover

  • Defo the best cover on your channel

  • you should try glenn hughes´s mistreated or keep on moving dude

  • awesome i gotta say it chris this is so far the best cover ive seen you sing! love all you guys singing tips! i hope i can meet you guys some day and learn more

  • This guy covers some sick songs...

  • Nice try at a great song dude :)

Obviously prefer the original, not even you can come close to matching cornells vocals :P but it was really great, havent found a better cover yet!

  • it sounds like if Jeff Buckley is singing it. It nice touch.

  • @xhardcorechicx never he is good but never a jeff buckley

  • @hefra344 it the tone of his voice.

  • @xhardcorechicx no he just might have run out of breath because head voice is the only way to get really powerful high notes. If he just did the head voice notes by themselves im sure they would have power

  • Well sung criss.Probably the hardest rock song to sing. Chris Cornells voice was incredible!!

  • truly incredible my friend. you blew my expectations out of the water.

  • great voice Chris ...love your "scream" :)

  • @brndnnchls1 You sir are an idiot and have no clue what you are talking about. Of course there are going to be differences, there are going to be differences every time a song is performed even by the same artist! You say you are a Chris Cornell fan and have obviously never seen or heard him live. "american idol jam"? Really, comparing this beautiful cover of an amazing song to talentless american idol fluff? Maybe next time do some research before you go posting pointlessly on the internet.

  • @RB360Modena what are you implying? did you even see chris cornell singing live? are you fukking stupid? this guy is ok but nowhere close to cornell... watch chris cornell's (soundgarden) live on conan obrien show last november.

  • Ok.. If someone was to " cover " a piece of music written with an instrument, it would be played exactly or as close to the original piece as possible. Vocals are the same, and instrument, sung from ones body. Using their voice as an instrument. Now, if he were to re-create the song, in his own way, then call it a re-creation of the song " Say hello to heaven " written by Chris Cornell. A cover is a cover. He took a great grunge song and made it a pop tiny bopper American Idol jam. Thanks Chris!

  • @brndnnchls1 - so by your theory every artist who covers another should just be a robotic jukebox with zero creativity? Then why cover anything if you're not allowed to change it? This is just a stupid way to look at music and the creative process. The whole reason to "cover" a song is to put your own spin on it and make it your own. CK has done that here. Where is the fun in doing it note-for-note?

  • It is awesome to see people taking an interest to singing one of my favorite Chris Cornell songs, but why try to make it your own. Just sing it the way it was written. I also love singing this song, do it for kareoke when I go out. This song is really hard to hit all the high notes, but it doesn't mean try to make it song like something from American Idol. Just sing it the way it was written.

  • @brndnnchls1 Sing it the way it was written? That completely defeats the purpose of developing yourself as a musician! By Christopher changing the song, not only is he beginning to develop himself as a musician by experimenting in different ways of representing the same piece of music, but he makes the song his own, he adds a part of himself to the song. I am sorry, but if you just want to hear the song it was supposed to be sung, go and youtube Chris Cornell's video and listen to that...

  • @brndnnchls1 there is a karaoke version to this song?

  • stunning!

  • work on your timing when u belt your notes.

  • Awesome!
