The only God worth of worship is the one with a tangible body of flesh and bones, like unto Jesus's resurrected immortal and physical body, and one that dwells within space and time.
@Conjurama A religion does not stand or fall based on whether people criticise it or not. If it's true, then it's true; it doesn't need defending from 'Trolls' and cynics.
@Conjurama I think everyone has a right to post their comment whether they know it of ignorance or not. Look beyond people who have no foresight in our beliefs and listen without seeing to this song. If everyone disabled comments then what is the point of expressing our own feelings about videos such as these.
I'm playing this song on my violin to audition for my high school symphony orchestra in March! I'm so excited! :D Such a beautiful song. It's my favorite hymn.
To anyone who decided to troll, flame, argue... We don't care. You do realize we believe that we can teach in the life after this, right? Either way, you're going to have a chance to sit down and listen. Whether you believe is up to you -- of course, you're going to agree in the end. We wish you would take the opportunity to listen in this life, as the rewards are greater. But we don't want you condemned. We don't want you lost. We want you with us. And if that's so bad, well... I'm no sorry.
To all those who believe we mormons believe we are the one true church, we are. But I believe that all men have every right to worship how they please, which is why I have friends of many diffrent religions. I allow others to worship as they please and treat them all fairly despite skin color, ethnicity, sexual or religous nomination, and wheteher or not they're ugly. So how about you think before you type up all these attacks against our church and remember God loves all of us no matter what.
Well, if those creatures who live in heaven do not have blood most likely they will look white or if it is litteral that there is no night in heaven then it must be hotter there and all might be black hahaha... But what we look like does not matter in heaven, like how it is today in His church, we do not care if you are black or white or badge or yellow or red, matters is what you do, what you desire, what you think.
As I have studied the scriptures over the years, I learned things. But, I often am unable to fully grasp the meaning of what the spirit is trying to tell me.
Neverthless, when I hear the beautiful and uplifting sounds of good music and the testimonies of those who love the Lord, I get a little closer to Heaven, I come a little closer to understanding the gospel and why the Lord made the church this way.
I come to this song after I have sinned to refeel the spirit. It saddens me that I sin so often, but no one is perfect. We all sin, and I must continue to do better the next time for I promised Heavenly Father that I would. I can not back down, nor will I ever. Not after the testimony building experience I had...
Methink the spirit whispers "No man has found pure space" Nor seen the last creation where nothing has a place. The answers are all No. If you are an lds please read the last chapter of the gospel principles manual, it is one of the basic principles that God was once like Jesus Christ. Let's not hide or change the doctrines to please every man that tries to make us feel uncertain about ourselves.
I am a member,tx. Your interpretation has no doctrinal basis. Show me these doctrines you speak of. Smith taught that there is a "Head" of the Council of Gods who is the Father. I suggest you read J. Fielding Smith compilation of JS teachings.
Your approach diminishes The Father. Yes, he was once like a man, yet he was alone.
Cite scripture or revelation from any of the Acting Prophets who specifically teach about grandfather gods and don't refer to that banned anti-Mormon video.
Joseph Smith taught: “It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the Character of God. … He was once a man like us; … God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sel. Joseph Fielding Smith [1976], 345–46).
-we teach this to new members and investigators. He cannot be alone because our Father lived like Jesus once.
Please make you points clear. You said earlier that the answers to all the questions of the song is yes. like: If you could hie to kolob in the twinkling of an eye and then continue onward on that same speed to fly, do you think that you could ever through all eternity find out the generations that Gods begun to be? Your answer to this question is YES, which for me is NO. The proof that the answer is NO is this post of yours: Nothing* by it's very nature doesn't exist.
You're promoting an incomprehensible God. I won't accept the Trinity either, so I guess I'm just gonna go agnostic atheist.
I just read "Abraham's Reasoning" found in The Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith compild by Joseph Fielding Smith. You're right about God the Father having a Father being doctrine...but nothing else. My understanding of the song is obviously above yours.
I'm leaving the church and giving up caring about divinity.
You have your freewill. The fact that you understood what I'm saying means you can comprehend Him whome I speak off. You just can't accept it. accepting is different from comprehending. You do comprehend but do not accept. Tell me which is more incomprehensible: a God who has become God by no reason at all or the God who became God because of a law which He obeyed - a God for a reason.
Nevertheless, as a brother I would say, comprehending Him may not be completed even upto the very end of our lives here. Therefore I woud hear what Chrisclem1 has said.
@UrFriscoAndNonelses "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit." Ecclesiastes 1:14 - you should try to read everything of Ecclesiastes, it's very interesting. What ever your beliefs are, may it be in God, religion or science - you will never know anything for sure. If the earth is flat or round, does it make any difference for your life? Focus on what's important, you, your family, your friends and your lives.
The "preacher" describes himself (his views, his conclusions, his observations) while he was in his fallen state. To conclude like him when he said "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit." is to be like a fallen man. There is a way to know things for a surety! If there is one tyhing the preacher wants to preach is that: be not like him (in reasoning, in views,
in observation etc), for on that fallen state the greatest works of God are viewed as emptiness. So John says: Light shineth in the darkness but darkness comprehendeth it not.
@Reynanfiel1 I'm not sure I understand what you mean but what I mean is that a testimony of God and Jesus as his son doesn't come from pure knowledge. :)
That's great! I hope that you enjoy reading all the four standard works of the church, because sadly, in reality there are those if not many who do not. So then faith commeth by hearing and hearing by the word of God - saith Paul.
@Reynanfiel1 So God is a white man, about 5 '11. Got it. I was worried he might be little, like the Easter Bunny. What does God eat? Does he ever have gas? It seems like kind of a boring existence. I feel sorry for God. At least the Easter Bunny has other bunnies to hump!
VERY GOOD! lol...but seriously that would be logical and biblical. When Jesus was about to offer himself as a sacrifice he said: on John chapter 7:
33Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. 34Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
Therefore, where he will be going ( is a place different from where he was while speaking), therefore God is not everywhere like what most believe.
Thank you for posting this video! I love this song! it always makes me feel such a great spirit. I know that the message it sends is one of love and peace. Im so thankful that you posted this amazing video. You did a great job :)
Only serious religion that makes sense with their believes and locates the presence of their god within a certain yet unknown time-space. The only religion which actually makes sense, and that is capable to grasp the concepts of the big-bang and agrees with it. Only religion that actually traces a plan for ALL of the creation and not only to the human species.
@DerAnstifter, oh you mean those fence sitters. the ones who aren't saying there isn't a god but not saying there is?! oh how easy it would be to be agnostic (sarcasm). Has the jury reached a verdict? yes your honor, we believe that the defendant is neither guilty nor Innocent... do you see how ridiculousness that is? there is no middle ground or grey area. Basic logic would state there is a god or there isn't and if there is a sliver of good in all existence then that is proof of god period.
May i invite you to look for missionaries,.......mormonism actually explain all the things you are looking for: the proximate time and space for God, the plan for all of the creation and not only to the human race. As you progress in learning on the teachings of the church you will see that its doctrines are far more superior than the big bang. Paul learned through diligence to the law of faith the following:
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Things that are seen (the material world), are made up of things that are not visible (energy). Paul understood thousands of years ago what modern science has just found out.
And the Lord God said unto Moses: For mine own purpose have I made these things. Here is wisdom and it remaineth in me. And by the word of my power, have I created them, which is mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth. And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten.
We sang this in seminary this morning for our opening hymn and I had the tune stuck in my head all day. (There can't be better song to be humming dayin-day out) The moment I got home I looked this up and played it while I worked. Truly inspirational.... thank you.
I don't believe in Mormonism, because I am half black...But this is a very pretty melody! I can appreciate good musical arrangement, even if it's done by people who think I'm cursed...
@goodgirlkay I’m a Mormon, and let me first just start out by saying we believe God loves all his children equally. I’m guessing you may be referring to 2 Nephi, I get where you’re coming from; when I first read that verse, I was utterly confused, because I knew that’s not what we believed at all. (I'm going to have to separate what I'm saying into three different parts, the character limit is to small).
@goodgirlkay But then after talking with other people and reading some explanations on that verse, I came to discover that the so called “cursing” wasn’t an actual degrading of the people, it was a changing of skin colour so the Nephites could distinguish themselves from the Lamanites. We do not believe that made the Nephites anymore righteous than the Lamanites, in fact at more than one point in the Book of Mormon, the Lamanites where much more righteous than the Nephites.
@goodgirlkay And although it may sound as though it’s talking about turning them black, from my understanding it was more of an Native American skin tone (I think the Lamanites are supposed to be direct ancestors to Siberian Native Indians), but don’t take my word for the last part, I’m not totally sure who the descendants of the Lamanites are supposed to be.
@goodgirlkay Mormons do not think you are cursed, sister. Quite the contrary, you are a child of god. Do you know what that means? It means that you are the offspring of diety and, regardless, there is something divine within you. It is not just in some of us or those with white skin; it is in ALL of god's children! The church has many enemies that love to twist our beliefs by taking 200 year-old non-connonized, non-verified quotes out of context, but I would not put too much salt in them.
let me make a brotherly view on the changing of colors. first, that revelation about the color change was not intended to discriminate the race but to simply explain the existing condition... it is an honest explanation of why things are it does not say how we should entreat you as our brothers..... that is why no mormon engaged in slavery unlike other religion who critique on us for being racist but their uncestors engage on slavery. second, that the priesthood was not
second, that the priesthood was not allowed to be bestowed to the race was not an issue of lineage....it was an issue of character. the race's pride was utterly destroyed by those who engaged on slavery and racial discrimination, the black race begun to loose their confidence about themselves - about their very nature as sons and daughters of God endowed with godly potentials. Many considered themselves as indeed of lower ranks of the human family or worse not members at all.
To give the priesthood to man at that state is not practical, as the very nature by which the priesthood operates shall not be understood by the recipient, rendering it useless to him. So, God waited for this branch of His eternal family to gain for themselves that courgae and resolve to revive that pride which the advocates of evil has taken away, and when that time came the priesthood was given them. That resolve is the kind that you have now...and it is good!
@goodgirlkay The only curse you seem to have is that you are half ignorant, not black. But it is okay, God wants you to change. Easier to change your ignorance than your skin tone. After all it is only skin tone... God loves everyone.
@RevEffect I hope that this isn't your usual missionary tact, because just for the record, insulting people isn't a very good way to get them to convert. Anyway, I'm quite content to be a God fearing Christian, and feel no need to convert to another religion. I'm fully aware that God loves everyone equally, and reaches out to everyone equally regardless of their skin color or ethnicity...It's unfortunate that it took your church a century and a half to figure this out...
@goodgirlkay the reason that Blacks could not hold the Priesthood has nothing to do with racism and nothing to do with God's love. Answers to God's actions do not come simply because you are outraged over them. God wants you to first have faith and follow him. Then he will give you answers. I believe I understand his purposes in this matter, but it took me a long time. But I did not find the answer by immediately assuming it was something evil. I sincerely tried to understand.
@noulmiit Please get a grip! I have never stated that God doesn't love deaf people, God created all of humanity and he loves his creation...Is a person who has lost the use of their legs and unable to walk disabled? The answer is clearly YES! That person is at a physical disadvantage to the average walking person...In the same way, people who cannot hear properly or at all are also at a physical disadvantage to people who can hear clearly. They are physically disabled.
@RevEffect shes right bro. calling people ignorant is not only a bad missionary tactic. Its the opposite of what Christ would do in this situation. I can't judge you for it because I've made the same mistake myself many times, but it certainly didn't bring her any closer to the truth.
desde la primera vez que escuche esta cancion tuvo un efecto consolador y lleno de esperanza en mi. amo esta cancion porque me testifica de lo eterno y de Dios. :)
I love this song and has been my most favorite hymn since my last temple trip! It was beautiful singing it in the chapel. I wish we would have sang all 5 verses!
“As man now is, God once was; as God is now man may be.” – Lorenzo Snow
“God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man. … he was once a man like us … God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth. …” – Joseph Smith
@royfan77 I just had a Family Foundations class that discussed the topics approached in this song... I don't know why, but for some reason, the class made it so much clearer to me about the truly ETERNAL nature of things... that there is more to eternity than just immortality or living forever... completely astounding... They mentioned the quote from Lorenzo Snow. That was one of the statements that totally got to me as well... too long to put into such a short comment box! ^_^
@royfan77 "I don’t know that we teach it. I don’t know that we emphasize it. I haven’t heard it discussed for a long time in public discourse. I don’t know. I don’t know all the circumstances under which that statement was made. I understand the philosophical background behind it. But I don’t know a lot about it and I don’t know that others know a lot about it." President And Prophet Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Gordon B. Hinkley
was the President talking about "God was once a man" here or about polygamy and racism? moreover..this is not published or approved by the church so it is not a scripture.
@73HungerGames73 The indefinite statement of one prophet (that itself is not scripture) does not hold more clout then the statement of almost every other - and of the founding one. As well as the book of Abraham, D&C, many General Conference statements, and Joseph Smith's interpretation for the bible. When you look at it this was at the heart of Joseph Smith's understanding of the plan of salvation. And our interpretation of eden - remember how god says men will be like god when we eat of
@xGoliathOninex or meybe it really means there is no end to the different types of races? Meybe there are purple people or something?...that would be totally awesome.:D
Kolob's fictionality notwithstanding, the fact remains that although Phelps wrote the words, the tune is a much older folk melody known most commonly as "Dives and Lazarus". Let's give credit where credit is due, after all...
@wmsnedden Thanks for pointing out that W. Phelps wrote the text, but the music is arranged by R. Vaughn Williams. I found "Five Variants of "Dives and Lazarus" on YouTube and it's beautiful, although it has no lyrics. One thing though, I'm a member of the Church and I believe the doctrine. It's good for my soul, especially the verse, "Do you think that you could ever, Through all eternity, Find out the generation Where Gods began to be?" We may not know in this life, but it gives me hope.
I also miss Presidente Gordon B. Hinckley, but the Lord never leaves us without a Prophet this days ;) I know President Thomas S. Monson is the living Prophet because I praied about it and in His time and in His way He answered my prayer. Maybe He bless you and all your family
@Shawnhbk1121, I love this song to but sometimes it's a good thing we don't sing it in Sacrament meeting. People who are not members would probably be confused by it. It is pretty deep doctrine.
We stand against the Three False Gods that offer false salvation. Lucifer first offered his plan, which was cannibalistic in nature (Communism)...where we in every sense would be appendage to him. The second offer was by the Fallen Watchers (Prometheus type), who tried to breed with mankind in order to "exalt" us. The last offer is one we concocted ourselves.... Artificial intelligence and the Hive Mind.
All three are Godless and are without Jesus the Christ.
@CarlRossas, thank you for that. you share a point of view few people have. love for everyone no matter their views is difficult. especially in this time. think your mind is more open than most people.but I must say, It is good you don't attack the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints, for even though you disagree with it, it is still the truth.
I love this song so much. i first heard this song a week ago, and since then i have had this page up and everyday it reminds me to listen to it. and every time i listen to it, i find out something else about the song, the beautiful voices and the words. its just so beautiful and mistifying. i wonder if i can download it off somewhere?
It is my personal belief that the stanza "There is no end to race." is not correct. If I am wrong, you better cite a darn good example to the contrary.
@CarlRossas You sound like a real Christian who does not argue, I am glad there are still some. It is possible to discuss religion without arguments, just one should ask about a topic they find to be strange or rather different, and not say "well this sounds like it'd prove your church to be false" or what have you. All Christian Churches at least have one common truth: Christ is our savior. And if you could hie to kolob is indeed a very beautiful Hymn, and probably my favorite, and I am LDS
Christians do argue, but never contend. When Jesus was confronted by the pharisees and saducees he argued, when he was tempted by the devil after he fasted he argued even giving scriptures for every argument he makes, it was when Herod whom he considered to be very wicked that he never utter any word. To be Christlike does not mean you cannot reason with any religion, to be Christlike is to argue and reason with love, without contention.
@Reynanfiel1 I suppose you do have a point. However, it should not be done in the manner others have. It should be done in this manner:
Ask a question about a topic you think is wrong in that church and let them explain, just do not use harsh words. But it sounds like you meant that since you said to "argue and reason with love", just most I've seen is with hate.
Which words you think were harsh? If they were harsh, then I'll take them back and apologize for them, but if they are not then I give them to whom the words are intended at.
It can really result into bitterness but it can also give rise to freedom and love depending on the person who receives them. Come now let us reason together, tho your sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow. To the pharisees the words of the Master caused anger leading to murder, to the humble ones rejoicing and life . It's all in the humility of the one who receives the arguments or reasoning. To not argue or reason is luck of courage & desire to please men.
I see your point that it does depend on the reaction of the other person. Like I said I suppose there is nothing wrong with what you're doing, but so long as there is not pride that arises from you or the others who try what you do, because pride can come from either side and when it does the argument becomes rude and bitter with name calling, which I have seen from both sides.
@Reynanfiel1 Forgot to add, and if you disagree with their explanation then you show why, but name-calling and harsh words should be avoided, "...that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man" Mathew 15:11
If I say that a wicked thing is wonderful, then those words defileth me. Even good words defileth us when they are given to those not intended to. If God said to Peter (the first president of the church after Jesus ascended) that he is a part of the generation of vipers and snakes then God is defiling himself with his words, but he said it to the pharisees whose works fit the words and so God is holy.
Whether one is Catholic, whether one is Orthodox, Calvinist, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbytarian, Quaker, Amish, LDS, FLDS, RLDS, Christian Scientist, etc, there is one principle all have in common: that Christ is the savior of mankind and that He was the perfect example for us. Christians should be together and help one another, not insult or argue. We all know what Christ would do: He'd show love, not hate or argument. Let's act like Christians, and stop adding to our own persecution.
Even if we do not have a single thing in common contention should not be done. But reasoning and argument is a good thing. Christ looks into the heart; He knows if one contends or one argues.
@Reynanfiel1 I was stating that we do have one thing in common: "that Christ is the savior of mankind...", I wasn't saying we don't have anything in common, and I was also saying contention should not be done, maybe I worded it strangely. Anyways, you are correct that He looks into the heart and can see our intentions.
I'm sorry for my wordings as well, I thought I wrote: EVEN IF we (all religion including islam) do not have a single thing in common we should not raise contention. Because as saints we honor and respect the privilege of others to worship whom they want to worship as long as they do not infringe on other people's rights to do the same.
... that Christ lived and because of Him and through Him, all men can be saved. Christian should never quarrel with Christian. We should celebrate and congratulate one another for realizing that there is an Almighty, who is our Father. We should bring our sects closer on what we can agree upon, and not separate ourselves through worthless arguments. Christains are already one of the most persecuted, let us not add to our own persecution.
I am deeply dissapointed in fellow Saints who would argue here with other christians. It is not arguments that convinces a man what church is true, it is the the power of the Holy spirit and the lovingkindness of God. Never turn religion into arguing and throwing scriptures at one another. This is not what it's about, and don't try to bring down a religion for different beliefs, rather, we should celebrate that there are still men who believe what every Christian knows: ....
Your post is an argument. And it is good that you argued. Now see my reasoning on your other post. Please do not feel disappointed. Christ argue but he argue with love. He rebuke but he rebuke with love. He smote the seller of doves but he smote with love...it is the heart that you should also see and not just the words which have been written.
i cor 8:4".....there is none other God but one." psalm 93:2 "Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting." psalm 90:2 ".....from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God." john ch 1 "In the beginning was the Word(jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" 1 Tim 2: 5 "For there is one God, , and one mediator, christ jesus"
isaiah 45:21 ".....and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me." isaiah 45:6 ".....there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else." Numbers 23:19"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:.." john 4: 24 "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." luke 24:39"a spirit hath not flesh and bones" matt 22:30 "in the resurrection no marriage, as angel
I absolutely love this song. It speaks to my spirit in a way that simple words cannot, and what it tells me is that there is eternal life. We all have spirits inside of us that will one day answer to our Father in Heaven. We will meet our Savior face to face one day. We are part of a plan that is much bigger then anything else that exists in this probationary period called life.
The only God worth of worship is the one with a tangible body of flesh and bones, like unto Jesus's resurrected immortal and physical body, and one that dwells within space and time.

The answers to all the questions in this song are; YES, YES, YES, YES etc
Generations of Gods began to be with the Father.
The Grand Beginning IS God the Father
The Last Creation is at the EDGE of HIS Kingdom.
The Outside Curtain is what separates Darkness from His Kingdom.
God the Father has no Father. He is ROSH (The Head).

Reynanfiel1 3 months ago
@Reynanfiel1

Kool down will you!
Gospel principles chapter 47.

Pure Space = Nothing
Nothing* by it's very nature doesn't exist. Nothingness is the opposite of Existence. ONLY EXISTENCE EXISTS.
Gods and Matter do not end....unless you say thing in the context which I gave....pertaining to the ever expanding Cosmos which is THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

Reynanfiel1 3 months ago
@Reynanfiel1
LoneIndividual 2 months ago
@LoneIndividual
Reynanfiel1 2 months ago
Nevertheless, as a brother I would say, comprehending Him may not be completed even upto the very end of our lives here. Therefore I woud hear what Chrisclem1 has said.

Ecclesiastes 1:14 - you should try to read everything of Ecclesiastes, it's very interesting. What ever your beliefs are, may it be in God, religion or science - you will never know anything for sure. If the earth is flat or round, does it make any difference for your life? The "preacher" describes himself (his views, his conclusions, his observations) while he was in his fallen state. To conclude like him when he said "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit." is to be like a fallen man. There is a way to know things for a surety! If there is one tyhing the preacher wants to preach is that: be not like him (in reasoning, in views,

@DerAnstifter
Reynanfiel1 3 months ago
@DerAnstifter
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Things that are seen (the material world), are made up of things that are not visible (energy). Paul understood thousands of years ago what modern science has just found out.

I don't believe in Mormonism, because I am half black...But this is a very pretty melody! I can appreciate good musical arrangement, even if it's done by people who think I'm cursed...
goodgirlkay 4 months ago 2
@goodgirlkay I’m a Mormon, and let me first just start out by saying we believe God loves all his children equally. I’m guessing you may be referring to 2 Nephi, I get where you’re coming from; when I first read that verse, I was utterly confused, because I knew that’s not what we believed at all. (I'm going to have to separate what I'm saying into three different parts, the character limit is to small).
focusonthegood 4 months ago

@goodgirlkay But then after talking with other people and reading some explanations on that verse, I came to discover that the so called “cursing” wasn’t an actual degrading of the people, it was a changing of skin colour so the Nephites could distinguish themselves from the Lamanites. We do not believe that made the Nephites anymore righteous than the Lamanites, in fact at more than one point in the Book of Mormon, the Lamanites where much more righteous than the Nephites.
focusonthegood 4 months ago

The church has many enemies that love to twist our beliefs by taking 200 year-old non-connonized, non-verified quotes out of context, but I would not put too much salt in them.

let me make a brotherly view on the changing of colors. first, that revelation about the color change was not intended to discriminate the race but to simply explain the existing condition... it is an honest explanation of why things are it does not say how we should entreat you as our brothers..... that is why no mormon engaged in slavery unlike other religion who critique on us for being racist but their uncestors engage on slavery. second, that the priesthood was not
Reynanfiel1 3 months ago
@goodgirlkay
second, that the priesthood was not allowed to be bestowed to the race was not an issue of lineage....it was an issue of character. the race's pride was utterly destroyed by those who engaged on slavery and racial discrimination, the black race begun to loose their confidence about themselves - about their very nature as sons and daughters of God endowed with godly potentials. Many considered themselves as indeed of lower ranks of the human family or worse not members at all.
Reynanfiel1 3 months ago
@goodgirlkay
Reynanfiel1 3 months ago
@goodgirlkay The only curse you seem to have is that you are half ignorant, not black. But it is okay, God wants you to change. Easier to change your ignorance than your skin tone. After all it is only skin tone... God loves everyone.
RevEffect 2 months ago
@RevEffect I hope that this isn't your usual missionary tact, because just for the record, insulting people isn't a very good way to get them to convert. Anyway, I'm quite content to be a God fearing Christian, and feel no need to convert to another religion. I'm fully aware that God loves everyone equally, and reaches out to everyone equally regardless of their skin color or ethnicity...It's unfortunate that it took your church a century and a half to figure this out...
goodgirlkay 2 months ago
@goodgirlkay the reason that Blacks could not hold the Priesthood has nothing to do with racism and nothing to do with God's love. Answers to God's actions do not come simply because you are outraged over them. God wants you to first have faith and follow him. Then he will give you answers. I believe I understand his purposes in this matter, but it took me a long time. But I did not find the answer by immediately assuming it was something evil. I sincerely tried to understand.

@wmsnedden Thanks for pointing out that W. Phelps wrote the text, but the music is arranged by R. Vaughn Williams. All three are Godless and are without Jesus the Christ.

FighterOfWhatsRight 6 months ago
@FighterOfWhatsRight
Reynanfiel1 6 months ago
@Reynanfiel1 I suppose you do have a point. However, it should not be done in the manner others have. It should be done in this manner:
Ask a question about a topic you think is wrong in that church and let them explain, just do not use harsh words. But it sounds like you meant that since you said to "argue and reason with love", just most I've seen is with hate.
FighterOfWhatsRight 6 months ago
@FighterOfWhatsRight
Which words you think were harsh? If they were harsh, then I'll take them back and apologize for them, but if they are not then I give them to whom the words are intended at.
Reynanfiel1 6 months ago
@Reynanfiel1 Well maybe not harsh, just that an argument can arise bitterness. I guess there isn't anything wrong with what you're doing.
FighterOfWhatsRight 6 months ago
@FighterOfWhatsRight
Reynanfiel1 6 months ago
@Reynanfiel1
FighterOfWhatsRight 6 months ago
@Reynanfiel1 Forgot to add, and if you disagree with their explanation then you show why, but name-calling and harsh words should be avoided, "...that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man" Mathew 15:11
FighterOfWhatsRight 6 months ago
@FighterOfWhatsRight

FighterOfWhatsRight 6 months ago
@FighterOfWhatsRight
Even if we do not have a single thing in common contention should not be done. But reasoning and argument is a good thing. Christ looks into the heart; He knows if one contends or one argues.
Reynanfiel1 6 months ago
@Reynanfiel1 I was stating that we do have one thing in common: "that Christ is the savior of mankind...", I wasn't saying we don't have anything in common, and I was also saying contention should not be done, maybe I worded it strangely. Anyways, you are correct that He looks into the heart and can see our intentions.
FighterOfWhatsRight 6 months ago
@FighterOfWhatsRight
Reynanfiel1 6 months ago
... that Christ lived and because of Him and through Him, all men can be saved.

@FighterOfWhatsRight

I'm a non-active member of the church, but this is one of my absolute favorite Hymns!

@viveann08 I'm active in the church, and this hymn is one of hope. It's not only beautiful, but the words give hope for a better day. God bless you.
