jailbreaking is the act of adding software or firmware to the iphone that apple does not want on the phone, thats why BLACKRA1N, is jailbreaking, it puts a whole new firmware on the phone once you download it, thats why it does a recovery mode and when it starts it has the geohot pic before going into you your phone, so this is not tethering without jailbreaking......

to jailbreak means to allow your iphone to install third party apps and blackra1n is a third party app so using blackra1n means your installing a third party app on your phone therefore you are jailbreaking your iphone which means that you do need to jailbreak to activate tethering fail!

Doing this on an Iphone is jailbreaking it.... he just chose not to install the software.... and do it on a new Iphone 3GS and you'll have to have it connected to a computer and re-jailbreak it every time you restart or shutoff the phone... yes it will delete all your files so beware

im sorry but your wrong blackra1n is jailbreaking the device because as soon as you run it on your ipod or iphone it unlocks your root directory of your phone and allows you to have an unlocked file system! now when blackra1n finishes you are left with a unlocked file system and the blackra1n app! now when you go into blackra1n and only select unlock your unlocking the phone not installing cydia doesn't mean your phone isn't jail broken it just means cydia isn't installed!!!!!!

you have to run it each time you turn your device on just plug in you iphone or ipod touch and click make it rain and boom there you go!

Blackra1n IS a jailbreak...... By running it you are starting an afc2 service that unlocks the root file system. That is jailbreaking..
