If this 15-year-old, 5' 3" little Jap guy doesn't grow much taller in the next few years, his future table tennis career will be in jeopardy. One way or the other, it is hard for him to raise his head and shoulders among the Chinese crowd who dominate the professional TT world. I won't bet my smart money on his future! ☆
@smart0money .. you do have a point but when he grows bigger he'll move slower. His style right now relies heavily on his "weight" because he's so light and agile so he can get into position to counter attack.
i think it's just that we are looking at his serve from an upper angle (the camera) so the serve seems illegal. if we were at ground level, i think we would be able to see the ball contact. and you must also take into account that lefty serves r a bit more difficult to see if ur a righty (which isnt the problem in this case)
Koki niwa actually came to Cartagena, Colombia to the World Junior Championships. Before the tournament. he placed 8th at World Ranking in Juniors. and after his very well action in the tournament.. he must be placing top 5 in the world

If this 14-year-old little guy Koki doesn't grow much taller in the next few years, his future table tennis career will be in jeopardy, and what you see now is probably his peak performance and then he'll go downhill and out of competition and fail to live up to the great expectations of the Japanese public.
koki is good, he also needs to use his non playing arm a little bit more, its just hanging there. Im told you need it aswell for your balance and other things.
@tyoungas The midget named Niwa.

@smart0money
Size is never an issue, especially in non contact sports like TT, where finesse and quick reactions are valued above ALL else.
Irfan87 1 year ago
@Irfan87 and speed. TT is not only about finesse and reactions. It's not like some board game.

I said QUICK REACTIONS as well. QUICK REACTIONS = SPEED.

Koki Niwa is currently ranked 5th in the world for boys under 18. And I'm sure if Lee's serve was hidden, the Chinese umpires would call him on it.

thanks, great match both powerful players.

and lee's serve is 100 % hidden

Not enough power for Koki Niwa to beat Lee Jung Woo. His footwork and power is very good

What kind of game is it when you have one guy hidden-serving all the time? I'm so disappointed with the umpires :(

I couldn't agree more...Lee Jung Woo's serve is nowhere near close to legal.
