I've only just found out about this but... First, any beings so far in advance would hardly be likely to still need to hold a communication device up to the ear. Secondly, there were no satellites to transmit signals. Thirdly, hearing devices WERE available at that time and it is astronomically more likely that she was testing the device by talking, since hearing speech is the primary purpose. 1. It is not a hearing aid. That would have required a cord and large battery to power.
2. The woman is talking to someone not seen. That can be seen in the clip.
3. If she can travel through time, it is possible she doesn't need a tower to use a phone.
4. The device is not long. That is her hair, so anything in her hand must be very small, ruling out a radio or walkie-talkie.

This hearing device you show did not come out until the mid 1940's -- there was NO such electronic device at that time THAT SMALL. I've only just found out about this but... First, any beings so far in advance would hardly be likely to still need to hold a communication device up to the ear. Secondly, there were no satellites to transmit signals. Thirdly, hearing devices WERE available at that time and it is astronomically more likely that she was testing the device by talking, since hearing speech is the primary purpose. The mic on those early aids was on the chest. (Otherwise, it could be Einstein in drag having a laugh.)

The problem is.....who is she/he talking to, if it was a hearing aid? More likely an early version of the walkie talkie or an inside joke or prediction of the future from Chaplin. The idea wasn't new, so he could have guessed that this technology would be available in the future. More credit to Chaplin if he did. The footage does come from a Movie after all!

@TheCsukar Think outside the box. It doesn't have to be a cellphone. Who is to say that it couldn't be some other device not native to the 1940's? Why would she be using a Siemens hearing device when there was no reason to?
