  • Im totally tripping balls

  • I don't think Clooney's speech was "smuggish".

  • And just like good liberals, her Oscar came for portraying a stereotypical idea of a black woman in the South, in a movie that was grossly inaccurate concerning the Civil War. And for years blacks were still relegated to playing criminals, drug-addicts, bafoons, clowns, sexless sidekicks, oversexed non-committing players etc. YA Hollywood you're sooo understanding and open-minded. Oh, I forgot usually the women cared for white people or were hookers.

  • @TheDissident77 You are so right. Hollywood is like the biggest racist thing all. They only hire Asians to play karate movies or fighting movies and they hire blacks to play criminals. Hollywood is against every single minority in America.

  • @cheersdrinktothat - glad I'm not the only one who sees Hollywood as a bunch of hypocritical self-absorbed assholes. I love movies, don't get me wrong. But I know the people are full of shit.

  • @TheDissident77 they do this to every marginalized group....reward the actor/actress for perpetuating their respective stereotype. very annoying.....

  • I actually loved Clooney's speech.

  • @BuriedTreasure255 Do you drive a hybrid?

  • @BuriedTreasure255 - Why? For the falsehoods? Taking credit for things they didn't do? Thinking that they're social philosophy, which they don't practice but expect us to b/c they are so enlightened, is better than everyone else? Clooney ignored Fannie Lou Hammer, Emmit Till, Mose Wright. Look them up. They were on the forefront of the Civil Rights movement, while blacks were still shuffling in hollywood. Too much money, time and too little education = left wing activist limousine liberal

  • You wouldn't know it was smug based on the applause given

  • The worst part was that he said the Dark Knight and Christian Bale were Great.............Geez he was so wrong about that.

  • 2:09 jamie foxx looks at him and says, "imma kill dis motherfucker" $>:(

  • @mikerios77 - I'd agree but He's a bigot too. Have you heard his radio show where he blasted Miley Cyrus? Out right bigoted comments. Says she's nothing till she shows her tits things like that. Blacks slurring whites is no better than the other way around. Its hypocritical. And he was only good in Ray, everything else he's done sucks.

  • Good for you!!!.......THANKS!

  • Doctors brought awareness to AIDS. The gay community also played a large part in bringing awareness. Hollywood only started wearing those chipping in in the early 90s, when millions had already died. Civil rights? The reason Hollywood hasn't made a film about MLK is because they don't think White people will see it. Racist hypocrites.

  • @atrophyfilms2012 I don't want a huge Hollywood production of the story of Martin Luther King Jr. They will fuck it up and ruin his message like they always do when Hollywood does movies about great leaders.

  • Clooney mentions in his speech that the Academy gave Black actress Hattie McDaniel an Oscar in 1939, when Blacks were still made to sit in the backs of theatres. He neglects to mention that at that same Oscar ceremony the Academy made Hattie sit down the back, segregated from the

    rest of the attendees.

  • Funny how they put a shot of a black guy in the audience

  • wow ..... i hate the glorification actors and famous people in general give themselves .... smug pricks

  • your batman was bad and you should feel bad!

  • That Southpark was so funny, it makes me snigger every time I think about it, especially the sound of his acceptance speech coming out of the smug cloud, oh I hope he has seen it!

  • Clooney's such a fuckhead.

  • Its weird because in the big gay al boat ride commentary, they got Clooney to do a voice and practically thanked him for helping make South park come alive, its hard to tell if parker and Stone really hate the celebrities they do, but just because they know them personally does not make them immune to their criticism

  • @antisadism - No, I think they just call bullshit when they see it. Same if Isaac Hayes and his hypcrotical stance on Scientology. Had no problem blasting other religions, but when it was his 'religion' he got mad. Thats bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • Clooney is honored.. "truly" honored to be there.. not the "bullshit" honored.

  • It was funny up until the "died today in a tragic accident". Past that, it just got smug. He really mentioned batman too much. How does he not know he was the second worst batman out of the 4?

  • If I'm ever elected president, my first act in office would be to take the LARGEST hydrogen bomb in the US arsenal and implant it under the San Andreas fault line and then blow all of those self-serving, narcassistic , god-complexed hippie whiners off the coast into their own little country where they can be just as liberal and "progressive" as they wanted to be. And then we could see how long it would take them to come crawling back to us when everyone is dirt poor and desperate and begging to

  • @BlackFox0911

Do it during the Academy Awards so they'll all be in one place.

  • @BlackFox0911 You're smug because you think your opinion is so important.

  • @BlackFox0911 - part of me wishes we could do that.

  • That awkward moment when you think South Park made something into a joke and they actually just took quotes from reality...

  • I thought South Park was exaggerating. How wrong I was...

  • Wow, remember when Hollywood cured aids and racism? I can't wait for them to cure terrorism as well

  • Yeah, Batman with nips you fucking fag!

  • Hollywood is the MAIN reason why black stereotypes STILL exist!!!

  • @marcuswoods2006

Exactly, there pretty much the reason why all stereotypes exist and won't go away.

Hollywood : Where blacks aren't maids ....they just pretend to be.

  • God I hate Jake Gyllenhaal.

  • I think literature had a larger impact on these issues long before Hollywood ever thought of sticking their necks out. But, whatever.

  • @TheSlowProgression yeah, but nobody reads anymore, there is reallly no point in reading when you have movies. i see what the man is saying, a powerfull film can change peoples thinking and point of views by shedding light on subjects like history. people can learn more through movies/tv than any school can teach, shit, you can learn to fly planes by playing frikin video games

  • The speech isn't smug He's RIGHT! They weren't applauding themselves but the ones before them that were progressive for crying out loud gays are loved in Hollywood and not so much Idaho or Mississippi

  • I think someone may have over-analyzed this..

  • I am the biggest South Park fan but I always wondered why this is considered so smug. Have you seriously never seen anything more smug in your life? This was a tad smug. Not that bad guys

  • oh please, fuck this bullshit. hollywood has always had a dark underbelly history of stereotyping and racism since the beginning. birth of a nation? breakfast at tiffany's? yeah.

  • Why do you hate a man who thinks standing up for moral principles is good?

  • SMUG ALERT

  • And Jamie Foxx is still sitting in the back of the theater.

  • Yes, he's a bit smug. But people who get seriously offended by it show themselves to be simpletons. If somebody is being smug it is to their shame, not yours, so who gives a shit?

  • yes you are out of touch you douche

  • Fuck Clooney.

  • What's wrong with that? He gave a good speech.

  • The commentary is about how constantly Orwellian Propaganda networks like Fox news constantly blast Hollywood for being liberal and progressive. It was essentially his comeback saying fuck you at least we aren't backwards mother fuckers. If you ever watch Bill O'Reilly or Glen Beck they bitch and moan about Hollywood being liberal propaganda arms, which is an BS. Hollywood is money, it doesn't give a rats ass about messages as long as it makes bank. One of the most American institutions going.

  • @thepermman So Hollywood isn't full of "Orwellian propaganda"?

  • @HoosierMF It is, but not to the extant of something like Fox news, its far more subtle. Fox news constantly skews the facts, but tries to present it as true. Sometimes, I watch it just to see how much they screw with people. The only real way to get news and not get a slanted perspective is to go through EVERYTHING. Most Hollywood movies are totally based in fiction and don't pretend to be anything else.

  • @thepermman You should be a lot more concerned about subtle propaganda than the blatant kind. You might see Hollywood movies as pure fiction but most people don't. Hollywood has shaped and influenced millions of peoples ideas on everything from important historic events to politics. Pearl Harbor being one example.

  • @HoosierMF hey, I know this sounds arrogant, but I'm less gullible than most people. What are you going to do? Everybody has an opinion on something, so there's going to be bias in any media. I try to watch more independent films than studio films, though I love BATMAN. Most Americans should just get outside their box and think for themselves. It just when you have wolves(foxes) in sheeps clothing that people trust its disgusting. Many aren't even aware that Fox isn't really news.

  • @thepermman I keep hearing about how Fox isn't news, and it lies, blah blah blah. Please tell me where they have lied about something. Every time I ask someone for specifics they can never seem to list anything. They always just say that it's fake. Hollywood films are still used as a form of progressive propaganda. Progressives can't come out and make their case publicly so they have to do it using underhanded methods. Like changing history through textbooks. A vile group of people.

  • @Aiglos Watch the Daily show, or the Young Turks. Its one thing to ask for a specific case. It happens, sometimes its good to watch fox news. They handle breaking news just like anyone else. Bill O'Reilly isn't terrible. Sean Hannity lies on occasion. The Fox and Friends people are goofballs with no ounce of journalistic integrity, they go on the attack on rumors just to fill out time. They are generally more deceptive then outright liars. Anyways go to foxnewslies dotcom for examples

  • @Aiglos i mean foxnewslies dotnet or just google fox news lies

  • @thepermman You obviously didn't listen to Trey and Matt's commentary. Take Mr. Garrison to Rosie:"Half the kids in the class didn't vote for your nephew. What about them? You don't give a crap about them because they aren't on your side. People like you preach tolerance and openmindedness all the time but when it comes to middle America you think we're all evil and stupid country yokels who need your political alignment.Just because you're on TV doesn't mean you know crap about the government."

  • @thepermman Liberals in Hollywood ARE arrogant. They reek of it. They're hypocritical by their narrow-mindedness of assuming others are stupid and close-minded w/o even looking in the mirror. What a shithead of Clooney to imply that "noble" liberals supported black people in the 60's, but conservatives have always been bigoted. I guess he didn't think to check that many Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act and that it was RICHARD NIXON who de-segregated the schools. It's utter arrogance.

  • @thepermman That's what Garrison was saying regarding the 2000 election and the Hollywood reaction: When Bush won, it was a TERRIBLE day for the American Judicial System. But if Gore won, then it would have been a GREAT day for the American Justice System.

Forget Glen Beck and the other mentally handicapped conservatives. Liberal Hollywood is no better.

  • @MrGreenPoop1000 It would be arrogant if he was just making a general statement, but its in the context of an awards ceremony. He's essentially saying he's happy to become part of the group, the group is not normal, and that's good, here are some examples. Its basically exactly what the joker tells batman in the interrogation room.

"We're different, and that makes us more aware of whats going on", Its pretty hard to argue that they are different, they're successful. American Exceptionalism

  • @thepermman That's reasonable, and I do admire their success and enjoy the movies they bring to the screen (well, except romantic comedies and Rob Schneider ones). But being different doesn't necessarily and automatically make you right.

Sure he has his opinion, but I just didn't like the smug execution by implying Hollywood played a major role in the social revolutions of the 60's. That's not entirely accurate imo..

  • Ugh, the only reason why they could "popularize" these topics is because the audience--THE PEOPLE--made it popular first.

I mean, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King were nothing without Hollywood steering the way.

  • @skatergurljubulee "Hollywood steering the way"? News reporters and politicians were the ones who brought attention to MLK and Rosa Parks, far more so than Hollywood. You're giving them way too much credit..

  • i dont find this smug, i found it kind of cool?

  • Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenks

  • Thank god "Hollywood made civil rights popular", I almost thought those people down south like Rosa Park and Malcolm X were getting big-headed.

  • @HanzSygnal Yeah fuck me, Martin Luther King ain't got shit on the Hollywood A-list.

  • @HanzSygnal malcolm x was a socialist muslim >_>

  • @HanzSygnal haha!

  • @HanzSygnal haha!

  • I think he ment to be a part of moviemaking. As the movies are one of the most influential art forms. Not that he himselv and his frends were ahead of the curv. Anyways funny ass hel what south park did.

  • He probably smells his own farts right after it comes out his ass

  • @supercoolguy4000 And kind of like how people mock redheads& Canadians much more now. They're only doing it just because of "South Park," not because they have any personal feelings towards them..

  • Comment removed

  • You guys are all tools. Embrace South Park and their ideas but don't brainwash yourself into thinking it's your own.

  • I bet a vast majority of you guys didn't even notice Clooney's pompous speech at the time. I like how most "South Park" fans have the inability to render their own opinions. "OMG, Trey Parker & Matt Stone say something sucks, so that means I don't like it either..."

  • @KleWdSide I watched the South Park episode. Afterwards, I promptly searched for Clooney's acceptance speech online. After watching that, I then rendered my OWN opinion: he came across as an arrogant dick.

But you're right! Shame on me for being unable to have my own opinion simply because it wasn't the opinion YOU happened to reach! God I'm really not ahead of the curve like Clooney is :(

  • @MrGreenPoop1000 Blow it out your ass.

  • @KleWdSide Haha I accept your surrender. You're clearly retarded and incapable of presenting a legitimate argument. And I'll be sure to blow out my green poop all over your face when you go to bed lol.

You can go back to wacking off to Clooney and Damon now :)

  • @MrGreenPoop1000 God, you're an idiot.

  • @KleWdSide Haha nice job of projecting your own stupidity. George Clooney is an arrogant prick. Period.

    God, you're an idiot...

  • @MrGreenPoop1000 Yeah, that says alot coming from someone with the quintessential troll user name.

  • @KleWdSide I like the color green. So what? I like it when people underestimate my smarts by looking at my username.

Come on man. You seriously can't think that Clooney is a great man who's ahead of the curve with us "stupid folk" simply b/c he's a liberal celebrity..

  • @KleWdSide Actually I don't watch the Oscars at all. I've never liked those pieces of shit much less liked watching them kiss their own asses. I got tired of that long ago. It is what Hollywood does do best though.

  • funny thing is he starred in south park the movie...

  • @BechTalent was in one scene cus he begged to be in it :P

  • how is sitting at the back of a theater punishment? i mean you get the best view.

  • @amyrosefan926 RIGHT!

  • @amyrosefan926 no surround sound.

  • wow iv been looking at a few comments here and well yea its true everybody knows that george clooney is arrogent but people in his position are smug and arrogent all the time if you look at some of the hippie crap angelina jolie has spewed like having a baby from every country the only diffirence is she is a goodwill ambasador so she has somthing to back it up my point is all famous actors like george clooney are smug i don't like his acting he is not in politics but some of the threats here

  • Comment removed

  • It's not just this speech. Clooney oozes liberal smugness pretty much all the time.

  • He is really ahead of us i most say....

  • that didn't seem too bad. i'd rather watch south park than syrianna though.

  • You guys are a bunch of cunts

  • wow. usually south park is on point, but this isn't as horrific as south park made it out to be. I mean, why pick out this speech when professional athletes spew crap much worse than this on a regular basis.

  • Hollywood morality is to morality what Hollywood accounting is to honesty.

  • Yea. I think this speech was pretty misconstrued by stone and parker.

  • @Dreamewalker I agree.

  • hes joking. jesus you fucks can't take a joke about being smug. he doesnt really take himself that seriously because when hes actually serious, he is very humble

  • @BeardAxeMcAxeBeard He wasn't joking at the end of it. He was saying that Hollywood was ahead of everyone else in moral standards.

  • @BeardAxeMcAxeBeard this is true and i think that was his mistake. he usually is joking when he says something smug, though, and I give him props for that

  • Jesus Christ... he thinks he's better than everyone, go fuck yourself cloony you are just a fag

  • George Clooney, Academy Award Winner ®, Sexiest Man Alive (1997), Batman, died today in an auto-erotic circle jerk gone awry.

  • I didnt see anything wrong with the speech, he is only saying that hes proud to be progressive and not some dumbass hick

  • @TheSandboxking Hollywood celebs are the most ignorant people on earth. and he takes credit for the civil rights movement. it's disgusting if you ask me

  • @morradi10000 He didnt take credit for anything he just pointed out that hollywood accepted blacks long before the general public did thats all

  • ...and the award goes to Matt and Trey for calling it like it is.

  • sounded like a good speech to me

  • Matt & Trey accusing anyone of 'self-congragulatary' or 'smug' could create an Ironyado

  • @festdir So? They have the right to be smug (even though they're not), South Park>Clooney's entire career

  • @aBDKstan "They have the right to be smug"

So does everyone else...or is there an Anti-smug law I am unaware of?

    "South Park>Clooney's entire career"

    By what criteria?

  • @festdir At least they also criticize their own show. In one episode they repeatedly picture Randy shitting and place the words "emmy nominated series" on the screen, making fun of the fact that anyone would even attempt to honor them with an award. I think you jumped the gun on considering them conceited when they make fun of everyone, even themselves. What about the episode where they say "At least Family Guy isn't up it's own ass with preachy messages"? < another joke about themselves.

  • Ooh, George Clooney got on my love to hate list with this speech. I love South Park!

  • chill out hes a good guy

  • haha remember return of the killer tomatoes

  • And it's not sheep-like to think exactly how South Park tells you to? I love South Park, but they're up they're own asses like everyone else, and at least they know it. By the way, it's SELF-RIGHTEOUS and OVERRATED. Learn to spell. Not to mention calling someone a "retard" never helps your poignancy or your intellectual argument. And for everyone using "liberal" and "communist" as a swear word, wake up and smell the new millennium. And my farts DO smell awesome!

  • @liveire13 Your misguided thoughts tickle me.

  • Self ritious bastard.

  • all winners are kissing the academy's ass and that's how George decided to express it, is he a sumgg ? o yea

  • What an ASS!

  • Clooney is the real life James Bond you little weasels are just haters

  • @cbappa2 James Bond is not a pussy.

  • You fucking smug, up-your-own-arse, self-satisfied, overated, hypocritical, liberal bastard! Only sheeple, retards and arsekissers, follow liberal scum like this guy.

  • So the whole concept of Hollywood is just for themselves and the mass market they regurgitate their bullshit too are all common, simple minded sheep. Thanks a lot. We pay your wages arsehole!

  • Comment removed

  • "Progressive" means communisn. Piece of shit liberals.

  • That was the smuggiest thing clooney you asshole!

  • yea clooney blows!

  • Thank GOD we have Clooney here to lead us fucking simpletons. I cant even tie my shoes you mother fucking asshole Hollywood fuck puppet! Fuck you George Clooney!

  • @sarcip7x lmao

  • Two words: arrogant airbag.

  • I feel so privileged as a 'normal' citizen of the world to watch this video

  • It's not the first time Clooney has said something like this. When he was getting accolades about how great "Good Night and Good Luck" was, I seem to recall him talking about how "brave" he and his friends were for making the film. Given the fact that he made a movie about the McCarthy era, I remember one person wondering if his next "brave" movie would be about the Dred Scott decision or the Fugitive Slave Law.

  • unless of course they actually do a time warp and start acting like they did back in the 50's: responsibly, with the knowledge that no matter what their parents say, kids are going to do as the celebrities do

  • @k4inan Not to mention that the progressively more risque movies can be blamed for the increasing degradation of american values. I mean think about it...John Wayne never had any sex scenes, and not only was tv still good, but we didn't have young men thinking that not only was it ok, but it was ENCOURAGED, to have sex with as many women as they could. So I'll say it as it is: Hollywood needs to meet my old friend the H-bomb.

  • 1:29

He's probably thinking "I'm the better Batman bitch."

  • @Smael64 He would be...If he was Christian Bale!....Oh, thats Matt Dillon btw.

  • @katich5 sorry he just looked like Christian Bale to me.

  • He is right though.

Hollywood did do something that was forward thinking.

Keep doing what you are doing Clooney. Say it as it is.

  • @Lorneisoptimistic Dude.. Hollywood is the sole cause that young girls feel horrible about the way they look, the reason why so many have false dreams they can achieve greatness and become famous... FUCK HOLLYWOOD IN ITS ASSHOLE. sigh

  • @K4inan Dude? Says it all really but anyway. Hollywood does have a lot to answer for, but in this case, Thank God for Clooney, Redford and for Micael Moore. Men who have the guts to say what they have to say IN FRONT of a camera and not behind a computer screen. They inform about the realities of what is going on all over the world,

  • @MissJodieHarkness People do that all the fucking time. We see the horrors everyday. But truth is that humans does not care one dime about what happens with other people, except their own family.

  • good speech. don't hate because you were told to hate.

  • what an asshole!

  • Jamie Foxx is like "tell me he didnt just say that''

  • GOOD FOR YOU! THAAAAAAANKS!

  • wow..that was smug. as if only actors were the ones trying to change. it was the people who actually fought for that change. who marched in the streets and got their hands dirty who deserve the respect. people who actually worked their ass off and knew what the real world is like. its the people who are in touch yet want change who are heroes, not people who make movies and are out of touch with the rest of society.

  • 'We were talking about aids & civil rights when it was unpopular'

Actually that was before your time George you didnt do any of that. And thats nice you want to take credit for civil rights but they would have been achieved w/o you guys.

And gimme a fucking break like you thin-skinned hollywood pussies would ever fight a cause that was truly unpopular. You all just follow eachother in whats popular, hardly ever producing an original thought between you

  • @mikedd56 case in point, blacklisting suspected communists from show business

  • Has George actually got any real black friends ? What a load of horse shit .

Furthermore the first black oscar recipient was awarded because of acting talent . Not skin colour . What an insult to black people .

  • i would pay anyone 1000 dollars to punch this guy in the face

do the deed, ill read it on the net, i'll paypal you the money

    regards

  • @midgetman8888 for some reason i actually believe you would pay the money lol

  • THAAAAAANKS

  • George Clooney, smug as fuck

  • Aww look at the mad little conservatives upset because George Clooney spoke up. So cute.

  • Dick

  • Another reason i have no respect for hollywood

  • George Clooney> Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi

  • Who gives two shits what this cunt thinks. He's an actor. He ACTS. In the grand scheme of things, it's whatever us as people put stock into. I don't care about them.

  • @daniellaoalsson You have seen Men Who Stare at Goats, haven't you.

  • this man almost destroy san fracisco!!!!! fuck him!!!!

  • @handsomechill22 really? Tell us the story.

  • jamie foxx
