  • Una de las mas antiguas, que lástima que las nuevas no copien lo de las rejas que evitan que se llenen de peatones

  • Thanks for bringing back fond memories of my childhood. I lived on Ocean Parkway between Cortelyou and Ditmas. I think you passed my old apt. house. On the other side of the parkway there was a path for horseback riding.

  • I ride on ocean parkway often!

  • Thanks for uploading. Can anyone tell me if this is a good path to get some exercise? If I were to bike it during off hours (late morning or early evening after the rush hour) would I have to stop at the lights often and yield to traffic, or is it pretty smooth sailing? Thanks!

  • @SylvanaForrester I'm going to answer my own question since I've ridden my bike pretty much from beginning to end a few times. I like it as someone who is older because you definitely get exercise regardless of whether you are going north or south. There are hills and inclines both ways, but nothing too taxing on your joints. If you are pro, you might be better off in Prospect Park. Most of the paths are pretty smooth, but some are a bit cracked.

  • @SylvanaForrester Also, as of June 2010 the path is closed off for a block at Ave. N for construction. I prefer to go there during the early morning hours or later in the evenings (my bicycle has lights on it -- I would not advise cycling fast there without lights at night) because there is less traffic and that means you don't have to stop at every corner. If you're wary, it can be a very nice place to cycle for exercise as a beginner.

  • @SylvanaForrester Finally, I just want to mention for anyone reading this: The division between the bicycle path and the pedestrian path is clearly marked but very few people seem to respect it. I consistently see groups that are four or five people across occupying the entire bike path and they act perturbed when I ring my bell as I cycle up behind them. Please walk in the area where the benches are, or at least yield to cyclists! Thank you!
