  • what is that game with the allien ?

  • the water seems too "gummy" if anyone is following...it just seems like its not reacting like water whould but a more viscous liquid

  • for me physx will always be the new clothes in the wind simulator

  • i dont know if this is supposed to be simulating water cause it looks like clumpy jello

  • would there be a point of buying a card if most games only use 4 cores and you have a 6 core XD

  • @Mrhanzax GPU have from 100 to 1024 cores, depending their price.

  • THAT ALIEN IS JUST DISTURBING...

  • haha why is there just ATI OR Nvidia for you. My system runs with a radeon 5850 for normal graphics and a Geforce 8800gt for physx. Best way to get perfect performance for little money.

  • well add a lot of models and buildings when you make a game, and then you'll want screw that cloth system :))

  • What game is it at 1:50?

  • i haz nvidia geforce 470

  • ON VEUT VOIR SA DANS É ANCIENS JEUX !!!!

  • Think of HL2 Episode 3 Using this *_*

  • @Elbarto1277 but HL2E3 will probably be using valve's source engine physics. You'd get something similar to nvidia's, just valve's style.

  • What an insightful and refreshing explanation of PhysX. Thank-you.

  • I don't know, stacking crates on top of each other seems a bit hard for 10 year olds playing with Halo3&Reach's Forge =/

  • 03:33

    Balls. They're touching

  • ATI just get pwned

  • Fuaymuayte

  • Been three years, developers havent made shit anything close to this.....

  • WHAT GAME IS IT?

  • @xXSkyZXxx its a demo...

  • "in a year or two physics will be much better than just stacking crates on top of another" its been 3 years and nothing!! i hope physics do become a part in games

  • Unreal Engine 3 !! 5/5

  • it looks like the inside of a vagina

  • where can i download this new physx drivers for my nvidia 8600gt?

  • "Special type of physics processing" or "completely wrong physics". Stokes/Navier are rolling in their graves!!

All these physics fluid demos are hilariously wrong. Call me back when you can emulate a simple wood block being pulled along a wooden board, hint f=u_sN, f=u_kN. It is pleasant to look at though...

  • i like your voice lol.

  • FUCK physx because of it i cant play any of my new games cause i cant install it on my computer

  • @ES7upyours

erm... yeah you can play any game, physx is an option.

  • @mckseal i figured out i had to go to nvidea options and enable my video card to use physx

  • @ES7upyours

you can use physx on an ati card, it just defaults the physics calculations onto the cpu.

The confusion stems from the fact that Nvidia physx is more than one thing, it is a) a physics engine and b) a method of calculating any physics on the GPU.

with an ati card all of this fluid simulation would run, but it would run slowly and on the cpu.

  • i get a warning saying: "unable to find a PhysX card, or physX being used by other application." ive got a GT 240 which supports physX, do i need to download a diffrent driver, i updated my drivers from the website

  • i was eating while watching the video...

couldent eat anymore at 1:40 :(

  • Fuck this synthetic shit, put even a little little LITTLE part of into the game PLEASE!!!

  • aw man, a game where every enemy was made of jelly would be pretty cool with this graphics card

  • this is BS!!! it NEVER looks like this in a GAME!!!

  • @faheemthedream2007 u need to turn it on and some game doesn't support PhysX

  • this guy keeps talking about applying these types of simulation to games by... using them in graphical effects

games aren't about graphics, they're about interactivity

if you slap in physics then you don't change the game--you only make it look different

the real challenge is to design deep interaction between player and fluid, or between player and cloth, or whatever

no particular kind of hardware is needed to do that

just some talented people coming up with ideas and developing them

  • @Bananadine dude, the entire point of video cards and physx processing cards is EFFECTS.

    Thats it.

And in case you failed a basic logic course in school, interactions between player and fluid, or player and cloth... That is PURELY physics based effects, and yes, you need powerful hardware to run those types of interactions. A nintendo 64 could never render the type of cloth effects seen in any newer game.

Your post manages to fail 3 times in a row just to make a single (incorrect) point.

  • @MastaSquidge if interactions in games were PURELY physics-based effects, then there'd be no games on your N64, condescending guy

player may for instance... delete a cloth, in a building game

    that takes zero physics

video cards transmit visual info to a viewer

    physics cards simulate physics

"EFFECTS" don't cover all of that

in general, sufficiently powerful hardware is needed to run a simulation, yes

    nVidia hardware is not

    PhysX hardware is not

just any old computer that's fast enough

  • @Bananadine No shit genius.

The type of interactions you are speaking of ARE physics based. Thing A impacts thing B, thing B moves.

You never said anything about deleting "a cloth, in a building game". That has nothing to do with phyics, and requires zero calculation other than telling the software to remove it from sight.

Physics, in terms of what you are speaking of ARE JUST EFFECTS. A piece of a cloak brushing over a character's ankles. Effect. Leaves = effect. They dont enhance gameplay.

  • @MastaSquidge you're saying obvious things

    say something new

  • @Bananadine....

Until your GPU can perform the parallel computations fast enough to do this smoothly, then you do not need dedicated hardware.

It is clear you do not understand what you are talking about:

"the real challenge is to design deep interaction between player and fluid, or between player and cloth, or whatever

no particular kind of hardware is needed to do that"

Your CPU cannot perform those calculations on a currently acceptable (not terrible) level. Period. Hardware IS needed.

  • @MastaSquidge if "hardware" in this context weren't needed then nVidia as we know it wouldn't exist, and this video wouldn't exist, and we wouldn't be talking

whether what I actually meant was right or wrong, you're way behind and I've lost interest

  • @Bananadine I am talking about the hardware needed to run these "simulations". This hardware is also needed when you start talking about complex physical interactions between a player character and fluids, such as water or oil, complex realistic cloth interactions. Realistic bullet deflection. The list goes on and on, but the point is that a CPU IS NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO DO THIS ALONE.

You are talking about physical interactions and how they shouldnt need dedicated cards. But they do.

  • @Bananadine Any sort of "deep interaction" between a player and anything requires calculations. Anything which involves any form of contact based movements is physics calculation.

You say that your examples of cloth and fluid require no special hardware, yet until the primary processor is powerful enough to do the required calculation, this hardware is in fact required.

Why? Because those two things are PHYSICS BASED INTERACTION!

  • 1:38 Taking tentacle porn to a whole new level. With new fluid semen physics.

  • @VladtheImpaler31

    You sick, bro'?

  • @ROBLOXingHabbo Yes, however that is beside the point. I was remarking what the new usage for this technology would probably be with the direction of the internet, momentum travels, the momentum of the internet is pointed towards porn. Tentacle hentai to be precise.

  • @VladtheImpaler31

Yes, but your comment is not right.

  • @ROBLOXingHabbo When is a comment on youtube 'right'. That, is the question.

  • wander if they would be able to make the water start bubbling why and reacts to temperature. they make sand look very easy to make on this even though they didnt have it. hope they add wind to physics too, not sure if it would be hard or easy to make

  • Comment removed

  • These fluid simulators lack the ability to recognize the aggressiveness of water and render white surf -- which most people miss.

Other than this, its all very impressive.

  • i see lag... -_-

  • A question: what physics program may be used to create ,for example, that alien creature, with all its movements and stuff??...it looks quiet impressive actually!:)

  • @TheMothsoul you could try use blender, it's free, but it can be very hard

  • Now, moving back to the topic of the PS3 processor and a PC one, or indeed mine, if you still want to make the comparison. A PS3 cell processor only has 1 fully functioning 'main' core, another core, as you stated, is not run for reliability measures and a further 2 are not even used for processing in games AT ALL. The processor in a PS3 is more comparable to an Intel Atom than more sophisticated i7 and Phenom 2 models.

  • @no1doesitlikeme the 2 cores that aren't used for the games is for the ps3 OS. its a vector processor with the PPC architecture so its not really similar to anything x86 based. but, since it is still considered a CPU, its processing capabilities are comparable, and its capable of processing more than cheap i7s, or just about any phenom II. like i said, i'm an amd fan. but the whole reason i said anything in the first place is to show ps3 is not rubbish

  • @schmidtbag Now as far as this argument goes, I could carry on forever talking about core architecture, out of order processing, all sorts, and you would carry on forever and we would both be very bored people. I could also go the other way and say that I wasn't going to bother arguing anymore, in which case, you would almost definitely tell me that I had 'lost the argument. I really have to go for dinner now. It was nice discussing matters with you, however I wont be replying anymore. Goodbye.

  • Yes, I understand the purpose of quoting. But it would seem apparent that the quote you made, didn't have a purpose. You just randomly decided to take a sentence that I said and recite it back to me, without explaining what the point was. And ok, I have read back through this ridiculous argument, had a little think, as you told me, and still have come to no reasonable conclusion as to how I am a hypocrite. Please, elaborate and explain.

  • @no1doesitlikeme i quoted you because i was trying to point out how you said sp3 is rubbish when it really isn't. i'm not sure how thats a difficult concept to grasp. i said you were a hypocrite for calling me stupid, when at the time, you decided not to argue with me (meaning, supporting your own thoughts). your reasons for not wanting to argue were stupid, and therefore by being stupid you are becoming what you accused me of being, making you a hypocrite. i can't elaborate more than that

  • @schmidtbag No, my reasons for not wanting to argue were perfectly reasonable. In YOUR OPINION my reasons for not wanting to argue were 'stupid' and therefore, by your logic I am a hypocrite. However, I am not likely to call myself stupid and so in MY OPINION I am not a hypocrite. My point here is that opinions do no work in a situation like this. If I had said something that made me 'scientifically and provably stupid' then ok.

  • That sloppy, flappy, slug, alien thing almost put me off my chocolate brownie. Almost.

  • This guy Read my Mind,Bioshock Should be Remade using PhysX.

And Since PhysX is Advancing (At least i hope so), It Will be more Impressive than Shown here.

  • What is Physix? is it actually a part of the hardware or is it just a physiks engine like the havok engine is?

untill now I haven't seen any game where physix really is strongly noticable only tech demos

  • i am beginning to like Nvidia very very much.

  • "as he blobs his way around the room" XD

great video. very interesting. cant wait till this is in games.(and i have a computer that isnt so crap)

  • the alein looks like a bullsquid

  • Just by curiousity, is the 200 series the most powerful card?

  • @TheLeader1197 no, not now, now the most powerful nvidia cards are the 400 series

  • @nealcolman Does the ATI 5900 series provide some sort of Physics in those Graphics Cards, or is it just the NVidia cards?

  • the blob and cloth = perfect for the pr0n industry XD

  • ya i like your video, and nothing is wrong with your voice dude.......

  • why does evryone trying to make us understand how graphic thingyes work all have the same accent, voice?!?

  • where do you find this demo

  • when the water turned black, it looked it it was the fault why an oil spill happened O_o

  • about the cloth, did you ever play Nocturne? The vloth in there is very realistic! And the game is pretty old

  • The first demo takes me 1 second per frame.... It really sucks :P

    GeForce 8400M GS

    2.2 Ghz Dual-Core Pentium

    2 Mb of ram

  • Im only just starting to toy with PhysX myself.

I have a 250GTX in one PC, an 880GTS in my Phenom

and I have a pair of 7800GTX in my Opteron and just last week I bought an Aegia PhysX card to have a play but so far, its proven useless.

I am probably wrong but both the 8800 and the 250GTX are faster than teh PhysX card anyway, so p[utting it with one of those would be worthless.

The 7800GTX on the other hand could do with PhysX however these are not fast enough for PhysX capable software?

  • i have AGEIA physx what is this?

  • If I turn PhysX off should my card put everything into the graphics? I don't think I need my GTS 250 to help my Phenom II 965 with physics, do I?

  • i have ATi Radeon

  • 0:45

    omg sybiote factory

  • bioshawk hellz yeah

  • Very good video

  • ati's 5970 don't have PhysX, wich is unfortunate. What's totally messed is that it was able to combine nvidia and ati as to use PhysX . I mean those PhysX kind of ruin my fps in a game that uses em... Need a solution, cos I don't want to miss out on PhysX, and still want to use ATi card.

  • @Stn3dRaid3r

Here's a solution: buy an Nvidia card. Problem solved. Because you can't do PhysX on your card, and NVIDIA does SLI, but ATI only does Crossfire, so you can't combine them.

  • @AETutorials42 I'm quite satisfied with my ATI, thank you very much.

  • @Stn3dRaid3r Well, then stay without PhysiX

  • @Trualdie that seems to be the best solution by far... erm, thus far...

  • @AETutorials42 ATI is ALOT cheaper for that reason...

  • @jimbo80982

Yeah, well, you buy cheap, you get cheap. I realized that after I switched ATI graphics and an AMD processor with an Intel processor and NVIDIA graphics.

  • @AETutorials42 to be honest when i switched from nvidia to ati i wasnt sure what to expect , I got the card because it outperformaed my nvidia one i bough at the same price by many times , the only reason i can regret buying one is the fact that they have no physX but then theres not many games that utilise it , even nowadays , last one i played was Unreal Tournament 3 (the PhysX map pack)

  • i want to swim in that water

  • Acctualy the physx comes only to the PS3 cuz it has an nvidia graphics card while XBOX360 and WII have an ati one.

so nvidia wont let the XBOX360 and WII developers to use physx.

while ps3 will have this with fun.

  • no it wont!dumbass you dont know jack shit..it has an nvidia card but it doesnt support physx...fucking fanboy

  • Just a shame that Physx is an nvidia gimmick. Physics engines are shifting over to havok which is much much better.

  • the PS3 has a 7800 GPU, physX is only supported on 8XXX series GPUs and up.

only the PC gaming master race can appreciate this mate ;)

  • @keshaz12 LOL, even if that bullshit of what you speak was true, the GPU in a PS3 would be too old to properly utilise PhysX. Do yourself a favour and buy a decent computer rather than slobbering over that low tech, blu ray playing black hunk of japanese rubbish.

  • @no1doesitlikeme

i don't own a ps3 and never plan to, but the cpu in ps3 is probably better than what you have, even if you have one of the lower-end quad core i7s, and it probably costs less. sure ps3's graphics aren't really that spectacular but its cpu is fairly cheap yet incredibly powerful, which is why people buy ps3 in bulk to make affordable supercomputers

  • @schmidtbag That maybe true about the CPU but I never said anything about that. I said GPU. Learn to read, idiot.

  • @no1doesitlikeme

...you were saying ps3 is a "hunk of japanese rubbish". the gpu on it isn't THAT bad, and my point was for its capabilities, ps3 is pretty good.

    learn to think, idiot

  • @schmidtbag Firstly, well done, you managed to repeat what I said. Secondly, I never said the GPU was bad in the first place, I said it would be too old to properly utilise PhysX. And thirdly, 'learn to think'? Haha, really, that doesn't make any sense. Maybe if you could correctly construct an argument that had any depth or real meaning then perhaps I would actually need to use any sort of intelligence to argue with you. However since you are so stupid, that is not necessary.

  • @no1doesitlikeme what? i didn't repeat anything you said. and again, you said it was rubbish, so obviously you think the gpu is bad. and obviously if you can't understand what "learn to think means" then ironically, you just supported the statement.

i'm going to consider the last part of your comment as "i just lost but i'm too proud to admit it". calling someone "stupid" while you don't even support your own opinions is pretty hypocritical btw

  • @schmidtbag Yes, you repeated the words 'hunk of japanese rubbish'. Well done. And no, that doesn't mean that I think the GPU is rubbish, that means that I think the overall performance of a PS3 is rubbish when you put everything inside one together as a 'team' shall we say. Also, I would like to know which of my own opinions I do not support and why your extreme sense of imagination leads you to believe that I am hypocritical.

  • @no1doesitlikeme i quoted you... do you not understand the purpose of quoting? i was trying to make a point which you for some reason turned into "lolz you're repeating me, idiot". i have no idea what you were trying to say in your last statement, and if you actually took the time to read and THINK, you'd understand why you're being a hypocrite

  • @schmidtbag Oh and by the way, just to prove you wrong about something else, my system has a Phenom 2 955 BE quad core processor which at stock runs @ 3.2Ghz each. Taking into account bus speed and system memory, I think it is safe to say that my processor, and indeed my sytem would destroy a PS3.

  • @no1doesitlikeme

wow you just proved yourself wrong. yes, ps3 is very limiting on memory but games don't need that much, most memory goes to the OS. i'm an amd fan but your cpu is no match for the cell processor. ps3's cpu is 7 operating cores, each operating at 3.2ghz. 1 core is disabled deliberately for reliability

  • @schmidtbag And here you are wrong again. The PS3 does not have 7 operating cores in the same way that a computer would have 4 cores. And they do not all run at 3.2GHz. The architecture of the processor used in a PS3 is completely different from that of an AMD or Intel one. A PS3 processor was made by Sony in collaboration with a few other companies (IBM, for example) the way it works is COMPLETELY different. Put something like that in a computer and not much good would come of it.

  • @no1doesitlikeme that made absolutely no sense or relevance to anything. ps3's processor contains 8 cores (if its logical or physical, i'm not sure), 7 of which are in use and they are all running at 3.2ghz. look it up before you post. the architecture is different but whats your point? just because YOU can't run windows on it, it doesn't mean its no good. people use ps3 deliberately for its great cpu processing power, which can be taken advantage of by installing linux

  • this effect physX coming soon in Xbox 360 and PS3. and WII. yes the Wii have a physX accelerator. Red steel use PhysX. effect cloth rigid bodies and ragdoll

  • should i install my PhysX?

  • Lag yeah thats right ... Just robs Power from your GPU .. Programmers need to put more energy into using multi-core cpus .. Then this tech will become redundent

  • I got a quad core and it's a fuckin beast. Multi-Cores are the best thing since sliced bread.

  • not really, in most computers the bottle necks lie in the CPU, which prevents the GPU from working at it's full potential, now you can let the GPU do some of the work and let the CPU buisy itself with the million of other tasks it does.

  • finally something other then anti-aliasing that will give my gtx 275 a little exersise

  • i can't wait... physics own!!!!!!!!!!!

  • looks slow and crappy to me... total lag out and if thats on demos well errrm cough cough.

  • You know, it could be slowed down on purpose to show the physics.

  • @SnaffleJBean son solo efectos que llevan a los juegos a un nuevo nivel de realismo a un efecto y reaccion en los objetos etc

  • @SnaffleJBean Actually, think about it this way: If the water really was to scale, and that building really was as tall as it was in comparison to the window, then the water really would take that long to fall (just a guess)

  • u need a very good pc to run this. i have 26-30 fps in the demo.

  • Or just a semi decent Nvidia card? :P

  • we talking about 3d renderman prog_ or maxion 3d and if so what's the cost of this video phys

  • yea i have a 8800GT, and when I got the driver to use PhysX I thought it was gonna be awesome. I played Mirror's Edge with PhysX enabled and, well, introduced a lot of random lag, but generally it ran well so I would agree its not built for it but it managed alright.

  • well there is a game out with the physx fluid water thing. its the survivalhorrorgame "cryotasis". the physics look epic!

  • this is really good tho, this fluid like physics can be applied to every aspect in a game. ACTUAL wind( real an atmosphere) skin, objects which would be able to brake apart, completely,blood/water.. basically if you can create a game with every thing made out of an atom like property you have taken a huge jump closer to reality.

  • the only thing would be left is for the characters to have a mind off there own to a point where there personalities would be able to change due to what happens around them.and that would solve the increase the ai in games.

  • this thing is amazing,i installed a few demo & it seems one of those demos installed this nvidia thing,i was unaware. and then i went back to play gta4 an i was Amazed at the improvement in graphics,i didnt kno if my eyes got better or what was happening, frame rate increased alot and i was able to put everything on high.and the funny thing is i have a ati chip set with a ati graphics card. they go great together, strange combination.can only imagine how good it would be with complete nividia

  • physx :)

  • Can someone tell me the name of that demo?

  • 5 people bough physx card hahaha xD yeah right mate... :D never would do that

  • intense

  • this is perfect

  • I got a Nvidia Geforce GT 120 and just wondering if this supports for my grafic carad ...Nvidia gT 120 is same as 9500 gt I think..

  • souns like my physics teacher xD

  • metal clothe would be perfect in all online FPSs

  • Could somebody please tell me the name of the game with the alien in?

  • It's not an actual game, it's just a tech demo from Nvidia. Walking around while tazing and looking at this creature is all you can do...

  • yes

  • Comment removed

  • yes

  • Its an accent you fool.

  • lol

  • RED FACTION DUDE!!! It Ownes..

  • lmao as if cloth physics are more impressive than that soft alien skin?

Amazing physics. Even Crysis, nor Dead Space has this stuff

  • He's probably trolling us about his fascinating about the cloth.

  • one of the guys from the crysis development team sed when better graphics cards come out they are releasing an update that will add these sorts of this + better graphics for the game. theres a game that has the clothe things he used in these videos and they are used very well in it although i cant remember the game name :(

  • Also forgot to say im using a Geforce 9800 GTX+ OC 1 GB SLI in my new computer, each of them costed me $214 ($230 plus tax) in Best buy. But the GX2 or the new GPU from the 200 series might cost higher. I hope this helped. Alfo for the guy that asked about this testing, usually they come with the Nvidia disk provided with the video cards =)

  • It dependes since i think this technology is shown since the 8 of nvidia processors were launched, i have a computer with a Geforce 8600 GPU that has this technology, the prices goes from 100-150 up to 500-600 dollars, the prices depends in the country where you live at, here in mexico the price for a 9 series card goes the double or triple, rip off, buy your stuff in the US, cheaper! if you already live in the US, rock on! cheap stuff for you!

  • I live in Britain so everything is a rip-off here too!

does the 9 series have better physics simulators than the 8 series or they the same?

  • Well its supposed to be the same, the only thing that changes is the speed in the frames per second and some other technology that it has, im not a professional but if you woud like to spend good money i would suggest the Geforce 295 or a GX2 but... 2 9800 GTX+ OC are better than 1 Gx2 for the same price, the Gx2 cost around 500 dollars, and like i said i paid 460 for 2 of them, i would invite you to search some videos that compare the GX2 with the GTX+ OC here in youtube.

  • So what sort of graphics acard do I need to do that sort of thing? and how much is it......

  • I posted a comment that will asnwer your question about this video =)

  • PERFECT

  • where do you get that testing ?

  • very nice

  • suggo!!!!

  • someone compared a physx card to a gtx 280 and the nurien demo got 10fps with the physx card while with physx on the gtx 280 he got 50-70fps XD physx card sucks... nvidia rox my 8800GT got 30-40fps in the nurien demo

  • doink!

  • great video, very interesting

  • well im running a 256 8600 m and my framerate on this simulation sucks balls.

oh well. it IS a laptop after all

  • You could have an old card (like i do) such as an 8800gt or a 7900gs

if you get a better card you can dedicate that as a physx card

So its not just the people who brought the physx cards who can have better framerates =D

and an 8800gt is nice and cheap so if you do get a 200 series card or a 9800gtx+ (my card) then an extra 40-50 quid on the side will be noticable

  • i really think physics in a game is more important than the graphics because if you have the perfect game only focused on graphics it wouldnt have been fun at all

  • wat game was that where that whered thing fell out of that weird electrical cage thing or did u just make it to show the physx

  • OMG who let Sally Struthers out of her cage?

  • Whow...amazing :O

  • Congratulations! You win at needlessly abusive comments. You embody everything that is wrong with the internet. I would suggest you feel proud, but I doubt you have the cognitive capacity to feel anything other than bitterness and jealousy.

  • If my voice is a bit weird in this video It's more likely that I had a cold, or was experiencing major hayfever at the time.

I find it interesting that you jumped to the 'mouthful of sperm' explanation before considering the 'slightly blocked nose' option.

I'm not sure what a mouthful of sperm sounds like. Perhaps you could let me know?

  • @PotentialGamer hahahahahaha
