This is their best song from their best album. Its really strange that the last album didnt get the applause it deserved. Its the one album that has the most long lasting appeal, its vintage.
I'm proud to have told many people about this song...it's a gem.!
Modern day Lennon/Morrison.
Even though he has an off and on addiction problem.
I really dig Weiland. He get's in trouble w. the law but generally seems to handle his drugs well like Lennon and Morrison did...But I don't champion drugs, just saying since many will say "no, he's a druggie, he'd a waste"...Not so, he's rock and rolls Prince! :)
I agree. My favorite of theirs. Almost Sacrilege to say as I generally prefer a bands earlier work as they are a combination of more hungry and untainted. Surpised how my favorite was thier last...or was it?
I love STP and this song puts me to sleep every time I listen to it, it's relaxing and soothing. Scott released a new album called Happy in Galoshes last week it's really folksy, it doesn't really have the STP sound. I do like the songs Missing Cleveland, Paralysis and: Pictures and Computers
thats right even this song'sreally soothing gives a completely different feeling,, i really like the lead part of this video version,, well my favorite song froom scott's new album is big black monster,, its really cool.
I guess the meaning of this song means asking forgiviness from your past, for ruining your present. Hoping for a better future. But i'm just weird like that
btw. if your a scott weiland fan and haven't heard his twelve bar blues album yet you'r in for a real treat! check it out, i think it to be his best work ever. it lets all of the true scott weiland shine without the influence of other band members. a true golden nugget
thanks for posting! good ole scotty. what an amazing musician. I'm only twenty and have been listening to stp since i was ten. I got to see scott play with VR at virgin fest 2 years ago. I can die happy now. he is one of the few greats that hasn't died or overdosed yet. rip layne and kurt
My brother's best friend turned me onto this group and i thought, what wonderful and beautiful music. This song reminds me of their last moment together.
This video reminds me of the end of the beatles when they were posing in the field in one of there last photo shoots, I think maybe Scott was trying to emulate that because he knew that STP were breaking up too. And the song captures this emotion as well.
I generally rpefer it when STP rocks via Core or purple or No. 4 than slow down with quieter ballads and sound experiments. I like this loungy number, though.
STP never really had their own sound, but I wouldn't say they were copying anyone either. A lot of it had to do with Weiland, who is really a vocal chameleon and quite creative. I always said they're a poor man's Zeppelin, in part because both worked a lot of sounds.
jeez.... scott really un gayed himself on this vid...hes not ever wearing eyeliner...anyone else noticed that he started to look more...um well..."fruity" tiny music lol....no matter how he looks tho ...stp is still the shit...
Every band/artist has influences. Art isn't created from nothing, and STP would tell you themselves that they have bands that have influenced them and shaped their music. Every artist owes their art to something/someone that came before.
they are working on a new record can't wait. Its funny listening to these lyrics because when he says I didn't think we would last that long it made me think of velvot revolver. STP together and only together make awwesome music. Army of anyone was ok though.
I agree shangri la dee da is a great album, you can tell they put a lot of effort into those songs, but is not an album for the average listener it takes more than that to apprehend its full greatness...
Scott needs to go to Peru and take Ayahuasca under the close guidance of seasoned Shamans down there in order to kick any/all addictions...whether to drugs, fame, or memories of an abusive father/upbringing. The Shamans heal addicts all the time, assuming the addicts go with the intention of truly wanting to be healed.
No, I'm not. I'm talking about true Shamans from amongst the indigenous, and not merely Peruvians. I was there not too long ago and took what I've urged above.
His whole predicament is due to the struggle between 'wanting' and a true sense of emotional freedom. He wants his dad back, as most of us do. Addictions of any kind are simply stand ins for deeper spiritual/emotional voids that we're not consciously aware of. The Ayahuasca would at least help in providing him with some clarity.
You don't "get" Ayahuasca like it's some common street drug. It's a plant medicine best administered by Shaman, and ideally in South America. Taking it here in a garage with friends is futile at the least, metaphysically dangerous at the most. Google around on it a bit and you'll see.
As for Scott, he is an addict who is fighting subconscious rage and fear, as most/all addicts do. Any addiction, whether to drugs, fame, porn, or plain numbness, sparks from the same psychic/spiritual pile.
does anyone notice the place is been filmed this video is actually were they recorded the whole shangri la de da ... id never seen another video besides days of the week ..
All of their albums were underappreciated, really. I agree with you. Neither Shangri-La-De-Da or Tiny Music were given anything near their due. They get better with each album, but no one seems to notice.
i luv stp. shangri la de da is by far their best. the old stp rock like a mutha. but i prefer this stage they were at. very sombre and humble. hope to see them again at some point.

Yeah, but the question here is:
"Would he really want to ?!?"
DJ
chowderhead69 3 years ago
His whole predicament is due to the struggle between 'wanting' and a true sense of emotional freedom. He wants his dad back, as most of us do. Addictions of any kind are simply stand ins for deeper spiritual/emotional voids that we're not consciously aware of. The Ayahuasca would at least help in providing him with some clarity.
giterdun77 3 years ago 2
Wish I had some (Ayahuasca). Where does one get some of that?
Really though, Scott's just a fup that likes drugs... great singer though!
21Mar08myChannel 3 years ago
You don't "get" Ayahuasca like it's some common street drug. It's a plant medicine best administered by Shaman, and ideally in South America. Taking it here in a garage with friends is futile at the least, metaphysically dangerous at the most. Google around on it a bit and you'll see.
giterdun77 3 years ago 2
As for Scott, he is an addict who is fighting subconscious rage and fear, as most/all addicts do. Any addiction, whether to drugs, fame, porn, or plain numbness, sparks from the same psychic/spiritual pile.
