The report is actually wrong...

It is not the first non eurostar train to enter the tunnel as in the early 1990s (94 I think) a British rail class 319 ran through it carrying the Queen. And it's a passenger train.

@glitch4465 nope dats not it. the eurotunnel train dat carries ppl and their vehicular transport through the tunnel to france from uk and vice versa is first non eurostar passenger train

@Lifty4ever Because the class 319 was run before any other train ever went through the tunnel. I used to go on that exact train to school. As I remember seeing the plaque on the side of the train. The train was named "Coquelles"

It would be great to have a Eurostar connection London-Paris or London-Brussel, and a ICE connection London-Frankfurt(M)/Amsterdam (via Brussel).
