You can't skip the credits on Halo for the pc (I've tried by clicking my mouse, moving it, and hitting different keys). I'm not sure about the Xbox version though.

Yeah, you can only get the Johnson/elite scene if you beat the level on legendary. Otherwise it goes straight from the scene showing the gunship leaving the Pillar of Autumn to the scene showing the gunship in space racing away from Halo. The warthogs in Halo: Combat Evolved are indestructible, but not in Halo 2 or 3.
