That's pretty cool, it's also a good excercise for shooting ratios. Even though digital has almost infinite amount of footage you can take, learning to only shoot what you need will save you alot of headaches in post.
Hey I am from the Usha Pravin Gandhi College Of Management, Mumbai, India..i really liked your film..We have an international short film making competition in our fest 'Aahan' coming up soon..Pls let me know if you are interested to participate..Waitin for your response!!
@Soundstage8 Yes, but the new ones aren't cheap. You'd be better off finding an old one at a thrift store, garage sale, craigslist, or ebay. I got one for a dollar at the flea market, and it still works.
Yup, was taking a workshop, and it was a super 8 project that we needed to do. love the class. and love super 8, however there are some really nice prosumer HD cameras that im planning on getting.
Very cool... I love super-8, always wanted to try an in camera film, never got around to it. This is one of the better attempts I've seen, especially considering the stop-motion animation. Love live 8mm!
Well done. You made a nice film. I have done a couple on super8's without any editing and just shooting with the one roll of film. Its a real chanllenge and you done good. Espicialy clever getting the animation in. Congratualitions
well i find this highly implausable. Toys do not come out of books. Reading is not imagination. No-one runs their finger along books/dvds when choosing. Why not play two player? Spectacles suddenly appear on frumpy flatmate.
dude. that was really dope. seriously. great lil concept, well executed. no editing--very nice. inspiring. i'm at the end of my 3rd bw roll of my first super 8 camera. looking forward to seeing what i got.
The reason i said there was no editing was the fact that i couldn't do any linear or non linear editing after wards. if given the ability to do that i might have been able to make the movement a lot smoother. all i did was shoot frame by frame. so i never had to do any editing, just shooting. so technically its all in camera editing with the super 8.
umm you need to find someone that can do it for you :P honestly depends on your city, im lucky enough to have several places were i can go. i didnt go for HD though just put it on Mini DV
A story well told. I've developed quite an interest for super 8, as it is such a cheap alternative to 16mm, and also as I hate digital video with a passion. Keep making films brother!
Nizo 116 Super 8 got it off of ebay. Great deal. fun camera to use. the only thing that sucks on it is the view finder is really small. but it allows me to do single frame 18fps or 24 fps.
I'm very impressed. It takes a lot of planning to execute stop motion when editing is not allowed. Especially on super 8mm. Congrats, it looks great!

really like the look of the film. it had that washed out look from 60's footage.

haha that was good, Did you shoot it 24 frames or 18??
Choadifer 4 years ago
thanks. glad you liked it. i shot it at 18fps. the projector we had in class runs 18fps so i didnt want my film to look like it was in slow motion.
