Yep. Still more interesting than reality TV, or american idol, or sitting around a bar watching a huge screen tv showing overpaid little kids throwing a ball back and forth, or any number of other "hobbies".
It may be nerdy, but it's a chance to get out and drive around, a chance to see parts of the neighborhood that you may otherwise pass without a second thought. It's a chance to actually interact with people, not just sit on facebook all day or play WoW.
@SmokeTreeAllDay This, though, has practical applications. There have been several incidents since I got my license where RDF came in handy; tracking a small planes ELT when it went down in a rural area and tracking someone who had been jamming local police channels. Not so much with LARP.
