No, it's a '42. a lighter bolt can raise the rate to nearly 2000 ! rounds a min! impressive toy, eyh? for 70(!) years ago. That "chainsaw" fertelised europe's green acre's with plenty o' good ol' "American heroes" Hiiiyyaaa !!
That is not an MG34 in any way. Could still be the MG42, the cyclic rate is down however there are ways to slow the rate down if you want to. I have used one during reenactments and live fired it as well. By changing the spring and the bushings we got the RPM down to about 900 to save money.
My dad use to feed the bullets into the gun during the war.,but after it was fired they had to run to a different position. He told me about how the barrel was quick to change
sounds like a slower rate of fire because with the mg42, you could not tell when one bullet was shot to the next. With this gun you can tell when each bullet is being fired
Sorry to hear that, my dad didn't have a good feeling inside after the smoke cleared. Seeing all the men that won't be going back home. you see my father was a german soldier, in the 16th panzer grenedier division. My dad also lost alot of his buddys. One last thing that he said was "my freinds are still young and I'm an old man" what men have to live with after being in a war is absolute dispear.
Its really a great machinegun - accurate at longer range than all other machine guns I know of - And really gives a spray of real stopping power with 7.62 mm round - We still use a never version of it in the dainish army - Its so mean at taking people down that it is knick named the "Hitler-Saw" A good thing its on our side now =)
The rate of fire is even lower than that of the MG3 which has pretty high 1200 rpm.
I would say this one has between 800 and 900 rpm like a license produced mg3 from Italy or Spain which come with very heavy bolts and different recoil reinforcers to limit the rpm.
Either it is a Mg42 with a not historically correct bolt installed or it is non-german produced licence MG3 ;)
Its an Mg42... The MG3 has a different barrel; cant be an MG34 because the instalement of a performance jacket and the receiver and gearbox its too square. The rate of fire its still fast
Actually it was a big misconseption that the 42' was the only gun with that kind of fire rate. The MG34/41 version of MG34 could cope with a fire rate upto 1,200 rounds a minute 300 were made before the finished MG42 design but to bed the MG34's in terms of production, and the MG 15 could fire upto 1,250 rounds a minute - I wonder if troops confused the MG 15 with a 42' since they had similar capabilities in terms of rate of fire?

This looks like an MG3 to me, the modern German army uses this model which is similar to the mg42 but has a reduced rate of fire. Nevertheless nice!

The MG42 had 2 bolts, light, and heavy. Heavy brings it down to 800 RPM.

I might sound like a dumbass asking this but i was wondering on a gun like this (MG42) why do you need to hold the bullet belt up?? LOL

it helped from jamming up thats what i heard.

I'm not sure if this is right but i think it's to help feed the amo beter and prevent it from jaming correct me if i'm wrong.

This is a modern MG 3, which is the throttled version of the MG 42. The title of the video is wrong.

When the barrel gets hotter the fire rate goes up, some guns could get up to 1500/m on occasion. Not always of course.

It's a Yugoslavian M53, due to its slower rate of fire.
Gooner018 5 years ago
it could be an Austrian MG74, too. It´s based on the MG3 of the German Army (Bundeswehr), but is slowed down to 800 rpm.

It was called Hitler's "Buzzsaw" by US troops because of the high rate of fire. It sounded like a loud saw when firing non-stop on the D-Day beaches.
