Different amounts of tier charges different amounts of RL money for subscription. Owning an entire sim costs $195 /month for mainland land (As Torley explains in the video, estates can rent without the RL money cost)

ittekimasu : the first 512 land that you have you dont have to pay any rent on, anything after that you do.

So if you were to do like the video and only buy 512 then no, you would not have to pay rent(tier)

You must pay tier to buy land. $5 is the minimum monthly RL charge, which allows you to get 512 m2. An island costs $195 a month.
