  • Muy bueno Peter. Volve a Buenos Aires

  • Why does he use two mics?

  • @zinkferd the headset is wireless, if you see on other vids of this concert he is moving around the stage a lot. I also expect the mics are on two different levels for example the headset is at one level for when playing with the band and the mic on the stand is at another level for him solo...

  • @bigwillybiker The wireless headset is for later in the show - they've gotta get him wired up before curtain so they don't have to do it later. He's also wearing an ear moniter so he can hear himself. He's using the stand mic. for this song...

  • I kinda lost Peter Gabriel after the 80's also. After so many years i see this video and it sledgehammers the beauty of this man's voice and talent right back into my head! What a performance...

  • What nice inflection behind those eyes; more handsome with age, and wise.

  • This is the first I've seen Peter since the mid 80's when he did Sledgehammer and one of my favourites with Kate Bush. We've come a long way Peter since the days at Genesis. I salute you !

  • CLASSIC SONG. PETER GABRIEL IS A GREAT PERFORMER AND SONG WRITER. HE IS IN A CLASS ALL BY HIMSELF.

  • @Svenlum and robert fripp version....

  • Anda bagus sekali , MR Peter dalam bernyanyi..i was liked your album songs since your left Genesis./are you versus with Phil Collin?

  • He's one of those few lucky artists who is even better live than recorded!

  • What a musical genius....

  • Mein Gott, diese Stimme... absoluter Wahnsinn.

  • I love this one, but @drbrassel who is an idiot? do you like every stuff others like, or what?, You are great, if it´s like that, if not, be quite!

  • My Poet..........!!!

  • Very similar to In The Rapids - Genesis

  • @1803fe

hehe, weird, never noticed. but its very true.

  • @1803fe ''In The Rapids'' is way better though.

  • The VOICE!

  • hey peter write a song about the middle east wars and its sadness

  • This & Pixies' B-side 'Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf)' from the 'Pump Up The Volume' Soundtrack (&, later, the 'Southland Tales' Soundtrack) are the only two instances I can think of in which a forgettable "rock" sounding song is reworked by the artist(s) as a slower, haunting, beautiful masterpiece, vastly improving upon the original. Particularly this one--one of my favorite songs, too.

  • He looks like he really grew into his voice. And this song.

  • I was lucky enough to be there. One of my favourite songs.

  • He and his performances always touch my heart.....and often make me cry..........

    Thank you Peter

  • one of the only artists that's better live than in the studio

  • @sznj94 PG and Roger Hodgson. The only two I know who are better live and definitely better now than 30 years ago!! Real musicians, full of talent and with a huge heart.

  • i cannot listen to this song without crying. it's so beautiful. saw him tonight in concert and he was soo amazing. i'm 20 now but i've grown up listening to him because of my parents and so glad they influenced my music because this is real music.

  • Thank You...

    Again... The King !

  • I say this man in the late 70's early 80' at the Paradise Club in Boston MA on Halloween.

  • 53 people drowned in the flood. LOL Sorry to be excited it's the first time I got to type this comment !

  • Pure beauty. Thank you for playing the right strings of my heart.

  • The lyric here is incredible...many songs today are just empty, this songs got a meaning to them...a deep meaning that can touch all hearts out there...

  • Loved this show, song and Peter is inspiration for many artists and musicians.

  • This one always makes me cry like a child...

  • @VelvetViolator Totally agree! Such a heartbreaking song....

  • tears flow freely down my cheeks...oh Peter! Your music moves me beyond words.

    Love you!

  • Everytime life beats the shit out of me, I listen and cry to this song. Peter, your music is helpfull.

  • Una de las mekores canciones de la historia...

  • Not much time left my friends.

    Stay close to your families.

    Keep looking UP.

  • Just an incredible poetic song, a song about life and triumph and sacrifice and the futility, and how we go on anyway; and the singer only gets better with age.

    Thanks Pete.

  • Saw him live in 1978??? on the III tour. He ended the show with this song with piano solo. Magical and what a privilege...

  • how poetic

  • If lieF was Really real it wouldn't need words....Flesh-Flash

    . Subliminal hypnotic suggestion everything.

  • Pete... Quite a master, quite a pleasure to live in the same rock at the same time... God gave u a big gift... always Peter G.

  • this moved me to tears

    amazing

  • @ducktapethis So I am...

  • i`m back in 1978, great

  • Whats the connection with Lauro Nyro and Peter Gabriel ??? I dont think any similarity AT ALL !!!!!!!!! AND Peter Gabriel way way ahead of her:::::::::::::::::

  • Amazing

  • whenever i hear this i always cry.

  • com'è diventatao...grandeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...la tastiera unita alla voce è armonia dolcemente teneramente invadente...bbbelllaaaa;)

  • Peter was way ahead of his time with this song. I hear a lot of piano/vocal songs on tv shows - and suprisingly many sound like poor copies of this - the real deal. Peter Gabriel: a timeless, profound, soulful, rich and meaningful voice with a great range.

I would have loved though if Peter had used a modern small and intimate piano sound instead of the outdated beefed up 80s stule MIDI stack piano.

  • @aihoschema Try listening to some Laura Nyro. That's ahead of time!

  • @aihoschema

namely...for the pianos - there's no time, no outdating with this man. Out of time

  • how can his voice be so amazing?

  • Why oh why does he lose the phrasing to look at the keys????

  • Peter Gabriel is amazing!!!!

  • pure conviction , pure PG, timeless. extraordinary touching song.

  • Peter Gabriel u have changed my life too many times :´) .... but i still love u after all these years so "Dont Give up "

  • I found the timing of my hearing this song for the first time very odd, given that I have had the Japan earthquake high on my mind, coupled with what many YouTube'rs have been talking about with the upcoming Pole Shift and the tidal wave/flooding that would be caused on the coastlines around the whole planet as a result of such an event, then I see this video right after I got off the phone with a close friend from talking about this

  • I know Peter Gabriels music since i am was 15.Since 30 years. He is anexception artist for me. One of the most creative and modern artiste, that i know. You can see it at the title "Biko"-its very modern, see to Gaddafis Libyien.

  • It says it all. Keep the faith Japan. Don't be afraid to cry at what you see.

  • Peters voice matures like a fine wine, only gets better and better

  • Love to the people of Japan - hang in there - it will get better

  • Prayers and Positive Energy to All Japanese People out there. Peace, Love and Hope.

  • @yestopographic73 dude there is no god

  • Reminds me of Japan.

    HA.

  • Fantastic Show =)

This Song in german was great!!!

  • Genious - I have loved this voice since 1986 - he has grown older, but his voice is still fantastic!

  • @Paetrouchka

How about donating some money, sending clothes, supplies or informing others about how to do the same? Hollow comments like this REALLY make no sense. "Now only this song can cure us. So I sing" ? Idiot.

  • @alexgaralexgar The guy is Japanese.

  • @alexgaralexgar People not nessesary need clothing, and supplies etc etc etc...

    They simply need hope.....

But I love nature, cause the strong always survive.

And I love also Tsunami`s, or Tornado`s and all what you people see as `disasters`

I see them as amazing symptoms.

  • @ikelleners - What a load of dick-weed,dumb-ass,tree-hugging crap. I guess the 20k+ dead were just weak,and the homeless don't need shelter,medicine,and food either.

You can't fight radiation sickness or the many illnesses that might come from this "amazing symptom" with just hope.

The only hope I can have is that you will be caught up by one of your "amazing symptoms", and find yourself living in the woods subsisting on three square meals of hope.

  • @obtuse100 Of course you are smarter then mother nature.

Next time you eat a hamburger, kill and butcher the cow yourself.

    No more comments.

  • @ikelleners I have raised, butchered and eaten my own animals. I raised them humanely without genetic enhancement and without overcrowding or neglect. I raised them for the express purpose of one day selling them for slaughter and/or eating them myself with friends and family. They were delicious. That has nothing to do with this song being good, or whatever argument you are trying to foment. I wish that your "symptoms" would erase morons like you, so others can enjoy music plain and simple.

  • not only does he get better with age...but he is even sexier the older he gets.

  • Why he has two microphones?

  • @dowas115 it is for sound control and so he can hear himself, singing into the mic is one thing, but he cannot hear his own voice and the mic in the ear allows this

  • @dowas115 looks like only the headset microphone is on, because when he puts his moth away from the mic on the tripod, the voice is still clear. There can be many reasons for two mics: as backup if the head set fails; Peter could have asked for a extra mic on a tripod if the headset starts to be annoying..... I don't know.

  • @aihoschema it's because Peter sometimes walks on stage and still sings while for example riding a bike. It gives his performance a certain freedom. I saw this exact concert in Germany some years ago, the sound was very crisp and of course he was amazing.

  • @dowas115 He has two microphones because one (the mounted one, I believe, not the head one) has a lot of reverb on it, and is only used in certain songs. I think that ones turned off right now. But on certain songs you can really here him use the reverb effect well, particularly mercy street.

  • I just love this man. What a beautiful and rich-timbre voice, what a great composition. The perfect mixture of class, heart and soul.

  • good to hear him again, i´m a fan of him since 1968 :-))

  • His voice gets better with age, do you think? I listened to this and I was choked on my own emotion which is often stifled these days. Where has emotional music gone? We need an emotional revolution, a change in the passage of the human kind...it's not too late.......

  • Utrolig vakkert. Gjelder forøvrig hele DVD'en.....

  • Beautiful song-------Great first album without Genesis. Drink up dreamers-----------
